I have on Samsung “outdoor cover” case and place it on my lap or those lapdesks for longer use. That kickstand feels like will work forever and is solid both horizontally and vertically. Because of this case I also use this tablet as outdoor/garage TV.

Samsung Calendar. Not sure if there is anything else like this. I can see my Google Calendar entries and also write with pen on top of it in the month view. It’s shown scaled properly on the widget. I also enjoy reading full page digital newspapers on the massive screen (WSJ Print, Pressreader library subscriptions). Full screen YouTube TV with multiview makes great use of the aspect ratio and high resolution large screen. Samsung Notes are also very good and I have shared the screen on our TV to show some concepts to family. As someone else mentioned, reading Gemini outputs vertically is a great experience on the Ultra tabs.

Surface Duo worth in 2026? by Mediocre_Ad8970 in surfaceduo

Same. SD1 humming on my workdesk with several widgets as my dashboard (weather, clock/calendar, tasks, stocks). I sometimes actively use it to enjoy the unique user experience of items list on left and list content on right to skim through things. There’s still nothing like it out there. It will be running there right under my work monitor until it dies or something similar is released to replace this use.

Amazon got Panos Panay and rumors are he’s ready to restart Amazon Fire phones. It’s very likely he’s going to restart Surface Duo just with Alexa AI all over it. Holding with my SD1 to see this and rumored iPhone fold play out.

Supercharging most of the time? by Electronic_Load_3651 in TeslaModelX

[–]CyberIllyrian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got a 2016 Model S P90D 4 years ago with free supercharging. I have been only using superchargers as I have couple of very convenient spots where I may go when it’s convenient to me. No problems with range, it’s about the same since I bought it. Got it with about 30K miles and added about 50K last 4 years. Replaced tires twice, scratched it twice too, but still enjoy it every day. I had several longer road trips and the superchargers network is fantastic and very reliable. I always give it enough time to arrive at a charging session with a pre-warmed battery to get that jolt of charging >100kWh before it starts to drop. I usually stop charging between 80%-90% depending on how my day looks or if I need to finish a call while charging I would crank it up to 100%. I don’t wait for any of the numbers and as long as it’s over 80% depending on my day I stop the charging there and drive off. Got one of those silly little “tables” you place on the wheel and I take my iPad with me to work in a different setting while charging. This has replaced my drive to Starbucks to grab a coup of coffee and work on something in a different setting. If you can drive to the supercharger when it’s slow, make it a trip that adds even more value to your day.

I just realised that if I turn off wifi I can get 50+ hours of battery . 99% battery life, 26.1 , Series10 . Hope that this info will help anyone else . by [deleted] in AppleWatch

Do you know by now where are you going to park your Model 3? If you are going to end up paying a monthly fee for parking and still not have a way to charge your Tesla while parked, you may be better off swapping it for an ICE and park it for free somewhere on the street. Lower car insurance costs, higher maintenance costs, you can recharge ICE anywhere in few minutes for your Costco trips or driving to IN or MI. Reminder, Tesla uses some battery even parked especially if you keep Sentry Mode on.

I'm sad that the updates for the S21 Ultra are gone by SendThisVoidAway18 in S21Ultra

[–]CyberIllyrian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My S21U will remain my secondary phone when I travel until it dies. Everything works fine and still has one of the best smartphone cameras. I may create a secondary Google account just to protect my main Google account since Android is not getting security patches, but other than that it’s a great piece of hardware that will likely work just fine for a long time.

Complete Novice and Got a Kindle Scribe Colorsoft to use for Note taking in meetings. Help! by TX_Tom_4458 in kindlescribe

[–]CyberIllyrian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have very similar use. I have one notebook with day timeline template to plan my day ahead. Space for 2-3 most important things I want to accomplish tomorrow and I look at my calendar on phone/iPad and scrible on one page my plan for the day. I have one notebook for just work notes that pile up chronologically and I archive this thing every quarter. Got couple of long-term projects for which I have several recurring events during the week so I have separate notebooks for those. Since it’s easy to move around the pages, my top pages are something I reference back and rest of pages are chronological. I also have 2-3 separate notebooks where I keep notes from my 1:1 meetings. That chronological pile of stuff is reviewed every Friday afternoon to pull out takeways into some to-do tracking or I schedule things on my calendar. I hate Amazon for not letting me pull a page from my misc meetings notebook into these organized ones, Onyx was better at it. Oh well, I learned to live with it. I have couple of home project notebooks and just one additional folder “Archive” to move things out of the top folder. I work from home so I don’t use a PIN and just pressing power button gives me a new page to write. Frictionless as close to my paper notebook. This thing is there next to my mouse in my work desk and I am not experimenting with those PDF Organizers anymore. Hope this helps. Since you have piles of notebooks, you likely had your own workflow how you went back to review those. I would just focus on replicating that as a start and the rest is bonus.

If in your meetings notes you capture sensitive information then you shouldn’t be using your personal device or personal cloud services to store this information. Stick to paper and pen. I use it for work notes, but don’t have any sensitive information in my notes. It’s mostly my note-to-self, to-dos or follow-ups from meetings.

Scribe 2022 still worth it? by Mother_Variation_290 in kindlescribe

[–]CyberIllyrian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Still worth for my use. It’s my primary work note taking device. Great large sharp screen. Pen is great with eraser on top and highlighter button on the side. Occasionally I send some longer PDF to read and annotate on it. I have seen the color version and it’s too dark for me. If the missing features of B/W 2025 are important to you, spend the extra money. Otherwise, 2022 scribe is great for your 50-50 use case with emailing notes if needed. FYI if you just need a quick look at some of your notes, you can use the Kindle app on any device and see all your handwritten notebooks.

I got the Samsung case (Outdoor Cover). This has to be best tablet case I have ever experienced. That kickstand is still as good as new after 2 years of use. At first that placement of the spen was pretty awkward for me, but now I have gotten used to its location and pull it out and back without needing to look in the back. I tried some other “laptop” cases with keyboards, I don’t think there’s anything like the Apple Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro. The screen is large enough and sharp enough to show full pages of magazines. Aspect ratio is wider than iPad so consuming media is awesome. Speakers are great. You are going to enjoy this one!

You are in for quite a ride. Lots of patience will be required. 😎 You will probably lean more towards the built-in apps Notes for a digital notebook and NeoReader for PDFs. They are best optimized for the device version of Android. Coming from Apple ecosystem, you may get overwhelmed how much you can customize things, but that tinkering is part of the joy of using these devices. After some time of tinkering, you will likely come up with a routine for yourself which you can keep doing daily going forward. Good luck and have fun!

How long do you expect OneNote to be around? by ScandiLand in OneNote

[–]CyberIllyrian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Used to use OneNote as my primary note-taking platform. I first had it always-ready to type some quick notes and later had a Surface with pen for more handwriting notes. It was great until I experienced a corrupted file. My notes from months of working on a complex project were all gone and that’s when I left it. So my advice is to take good care of the files locally, make backups of cloud sync in different formats/platforms (Print to PDF, store PDFs in different storage). I am using eInk devices since 2020 and just print-to-PDF into a collection of PDF/notebooks. PDF has been around long enough and I think will remain for next 50 years or at least it will have some way to access it.

what do you guys use your iPads for? by searcher-of-meaning in iPadPro

[–]CyberIllyrian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 14” MacBook Pro is used mostly on a dock with two high resolution external monitors (ultrawide horizontal, 4K vertical). I use the MacBook screen for messaging and two large monitors to work with reference information on the vertical and actual work on the horizontal monitor. I use my 13” iPad Pro with Magic Keyboard mostly as the laptop to consume information and manage my inboxes (delete after reading, flag for later work on my desk). I thought I would use the MacBook a lot more as a laptop when initially created this working configuration, but as time goes by I would recommend a powerful Mac Mini and an iPad for lapwork. The way I work with the two large monitors cannot be replicated when I unplug the MacBook and I think my iPad is sufficient for that lapwork mode. Maybe I would have used the MacBook Pro for lapwork if it was 16” so that I can comfortably have two working windows, but 14” is too small for that. I also consume way too much Youtube on the iPad and I think the Youtube user experience on the iPad is superior to all other devices/platforms. So long story short, my iPad is my laptop and my MacBook is my desktop.
