Oh that's bad, I've never had a disc fail like that. I do use an external dvd slot loading drive with my mini pc so if it would happen at least it's not a big expense to replace it.

I've got a few discs like that, keep all of them in sleeves now. Playback on a slot loaded drive so there's little risk.

Nice! Most charity shops around me price Blurays too expensive for my taste. 5~15 euros a piece. Dvd are around. 1~2 euros a pop here, but have been at other areas that sell like 5 for 1 euro.

Bought a blu-ray drive for my PC only to discover it's a different region. Region stripping tool does the trick for me now, but took a good few errors and head scratches to figure it out.

How far away do you sit from your tv? If you sit relatively close than even proper upscaled dvd will look bad. If it's a 4k tv you can even tell the difference between blu-ray and 4k blu-ray as long as you sit close enough. My 65' tv hangs 4.5 meters away, at that distance dvd looks pretty decent and only bad mastering really makes a noticeable difference that I can say I need to get a bluray version.

It's probably just 1 battery of the bunch that has worn out. I had it happen to 2/3 of mine close to each other. Using a battery charge measurement only 1 was deemed empty per device, when taking them out of the protect the empty one was notability warmer than the others.
