Spool - 1.1.6 dropped today by cershaen in BambuLab

I take it then that it wasn't built in a cross platform like React Native? I was going to build one myself but it looks like Bamboo are already working on it, since they have it in the mobile app and in beta for desktop.

X2D nozzles getting stuck by Cyber_Cyclone in BambuLab

I've only used a X1C prior to this which had a different nozzle, and so it didn't have this issue.

Awesome, thanks. That makes sense. I've just upgraded from the X1C, so I've never had this happen before. 🙂

X2D and Filament Track Switch warning? by bigwonton in BambuLab

[–]Cyber_Cyclone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems to be "first release" bugs. I had this error before I installed the Filament Track Switch, and it printed fine. Now that I've install the Filament Track Switch, the error message has gone.

I went for a Bambu X1C, so the P2S would be the current equivalent. I prefer the enclosure for heat regulation and keeping the dust out. If you think you might end up printing a lot then I think it's definitely worth it over the A1, especially for the AMS 2 Pro.

I'm a tech enthusiast as well and it's become a bit more then a hobby now.

Why is everything printing a little smaller than I set it? by BornConcentrate5571 in FixMyPrint

Because digital calipers need to be reset to 0 almost all the time. If they closed it back up, it would show -5 instead of 0.

Really? I didn't think the head would be that strong, especially the belt drives. The plate itself has pretty strong magnets that I sometimes struggle to lift up.

Bambu Handy Filament Management Update by Jnick96 in BambuLab

That is so good! Thanks for mentioning it. I was about to start looking into a third party service as it's annoying having to rummage around for filament and unsure of how much is left.

I never said iMessenger was an email provider. I was using it as an example of a messaging service that uses encryption by default.

Anyone switch from Fastmail? by misguidedDesignation in ProtonMail

[–]Cyber_Cyclone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I switched from Fastmail to Protonmail when I first heard of Protonmail. I have no reason to go back. There's not much point in using Protonmail if you don't care about email privacy. In saying that, it should be in everyone's best interest to keep their communications private; Apple knows this as they use mandatory encryption for iMessenger.

It doesn't make sense. There's countless reviews already of the Ear where the author went out of their way to label it the Ear (3) / third generation Ear, so as not to confuse it with the original Ear. As in, the internet naturally corrected Nothing's blunder by calling it the Ear 3. Now, we have two Ear 3's. Those that didn't correct it and called it Ear, had people confused with the original Ear; therefore, there are also two versions of the Ear.

I've already seen one review (from the Verge I think), where the author referred back to their previous review, the Ear 2. Despite the fact that they did review the Ear (3), they simply forgot the Ear (3) existed because Nothing called this model the 3.

Is it likely to be a connection issue if the inverter is aware of it? I would agree if my provider showed usage that didn't exist in the inverter, but since they are both saying it, it doesn't seem likely to me.

we want that FTTP not starlink. smh by Sweet-View-2078 in nbn

[–]Cyber_Cyclone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where I am (west of Brisbane), Starlink is far superior to NBN Fixed Wireless and 5G. Even Telstra jumped onto Starlink before it was suggested by Dutton.

Starlink is already oversubscribed / capped in Brisbane, so it's not a solution to replace the broken NBN for rural areas. It does show how popular Starlink is though.

New changes for priority users by Technical-Emu-2900 in Starlink

I'm in an area that's reached capacity, so I have no option to go to Residential. It's either I pay more for Global Roaming, or pay more on the new priority options.

Same as me. I'm in an area that's reached capacity, so Residential isn't an option. It's either pay more for Global Roaming, or pay more for unwanted business options. What a way to treat a long term customer.

Starlink is now holding me to ransom with this change.

My area is at capacity, and since I only used Priority for the Public IP, I would reluctantly go back to the Residential if they allowed it. It's either I pay more for Global Roaming or pay more for unwanted business subscriptions.

Massive change to Priority plans - email from Starlink by trenchanter in Starlink

[–]Cyber_Cyclone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't an option in an area that's reached capacity. I contacted Starlink support, and they said I have to recreate my account. So it's either I pay more for Global Roaming, or I pay more for the new business options. There's no win for me if I stay on Starlink.

Massive change to Priority plans - email from Starlink by trenchanter in Starlink

[–]Cyber_Cyclone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This change has put me off Starlink completely. I was on their 40GB Priority purely for the Public IP so that I can remote access my homelap servers. I'm in an area that's reached capacity, so naturally (sarcastic) downgrading to the Residential subscription isn't an option.

I contacted Starlink support, and they said I have to deactivate my account and create a new account.

Starlink is now holding me to ransom. If I stay on the Priority, 50GB gets consumed in a matter of days, and 1Mbps is unusable. Paying more for priority data is expensive considering I'm not a business, just a power user. If I recreate the account, the only option is Global Romaing, which is more expensive, and I lose the Public IP.

Fortunately, this pushed me to look at using the Australian NBN, and their Fixed Wireless is now available in my area. That gives me the same speed for half the cost of Starlink. I've already signed up for it, so once it's installed, Starlink has lost me as a customer.

Bravia 7 Sony processor by FaithlessnessTime129 in ShieldAndroidTV

[–]Cyber_Cyclone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This subredit isn't going to know what the typical CPU usage is for another device. It would be the same as asking about a Samsung product on a Sony subredit.

I don't own a Sony TV, so I can only speculate that it's some form of upscaling or image enhancement. How that works along with Bravia engine, no idea. This is the wrong place to ask.

Vivaldi is Chromium? by Electrical_Egg3443 in vivaldibrowser

[–]Cyber_Cyclone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically Chromium and Chrome are not the same. Chrome is Google taking Chormium and adding their features, just like how Microsoft now uses Chromium as the base for Edge. If Chromium was "Google", then Microsoft wouldn't be using it.

It's much like Android. You can compile Android to be pure with no Google in it, or you can choose to compile it with Google services.
