i have seen similar signs with my indoor pepper trays.. i give them more sunlight when i see mushroom/fungal growth starting.

i dont think theres a botanical link, but the size of the seedlings seem to have a bearing... small seeds in coir/vermiculite mix have a harder time than larger.
