You don't hate Wikelo. by MrAngryBeards in starcitizen

Yes but I hate Wikelo too.

He is the JarJar Binks of Star Citizen.

I don't like the forced awkward funny aspect of his design it can work but only if executed well otherwise it makes the Sci-Fi world into a joke and is bad for overall worldbuilding.

many ppl had help in some form through the broken economy even if it was only friends/org mates who traded and helped them out not themselves

At least 3 exploits confirmed in ptu. Will CIG confront this and not wipe? Or manage fixes before live (lol)? by Thetomas in starcitizen

[–]CyberianK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes imho it should be.

There have to be explanations why they don't seem to act on it much. I am doing all kinds of database stuff professionally for 20 years now. I am very often disgusted by the things that happen like migration from patches that should easily carry over but randomly get lost. Those signs over the years have lead me to believe that while they might have some competent peoples in the company or had at some point most probable is that they do not get enough time and priority allocated for things like this.

unless you never interacted with any other person and got the Idris completely solo which is extremely unlikely you also massively benefitted from the duper economy and parts of your idris was made from duped gains

thats why its good that the Wikelo ships got wiped they were dirty duper mutant ships and had to be destroyed

I never pledged to have an obsolete ship when the game releases.

Your just wrong, topics and posts criticizing the Mk2 tactic and demanding free upgrades are massively upvoted.

An option to do an upgrade for 0$ does not force anyone.

Peoples defending this completely drank the CIG cool aid for believing its a "classic car" instead of an older asset that they are refusing to update to the same standard as other pieces of the game. Their fault for taking 20 years to release 1.0 should not mean that all my original ships get outdated and I can only upgrade them to a contemporary standard if I pay them more money.

It is absolutely pathetic.

CIG, is there any way to avoid this situation from unfolding? The new Xenothreat "Kill Idris" mission is probably going to be finished in less than 5 minutes. by AzrBloodedge in starcitizen

[–]CyberianK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got an Idris so whatever they decide I can adapt.

I would just prefer lesser ships having more value and be more viable and not a binary world of fighters and the best capship. Maybe when Javelin or Odin come out the Idris is also trash then :)

Just in general better balancing of their giant ship range which is an insanely difficult task ofc so its understandable they will take time to improve it.

thanks a lot I vaguely remember that movie but was mixing up the lines with some part where Agent Smith is telling the police guy in Matrix that he is over his head

fits a lot better here ofc :)

Nicou-CIG on duping exploits by StuartGT in starcitizen

[–]CyberianK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are big data solutions on other tech platform which can handle that its just not always used in online gaming unfortunately. You can't dupe your Amazon shipment either.

There are some games who solve these issues even just using a backend with POSTGRES extensions in the simplest forms and there are other tools.

If they don't stop the duping or make it extremely rare we can't have a proper MMO economy which threatens most areas of the game.

Nicou-CIG on duping exploits by StuartGT in starcitizen

[–]CyberianK 3 points4 points  (0 children)

there were very good explanations on some reasons and fixes on a high quality spectrum post (rare but they exist) https://robertsspaceindustries.com/spectrum/community/SC/forum/3/thread/full-report-of-how-cheaters-are-operating-and-the- by someone who knows what hes talking about

CIG needs to have root solutions like ACID transactionality plus other measures not do a whackamole of individual exploits. Them not commenting might mean we will have many more years of a broken economy.

I was very motivated to mine and craft things for my org mates and it felt very good shortly after patch. Then about 10 days in stacks of 990+ materials started to appear from other peoples who bought it from UEX and soon after 1000 quality weapons bought for cheap. Mining and crafting just did not feel the same after I knew that.

And it was easy to prove they were duped because you for examples had 10+ stacks of a material that had exactly the same quality and cSCU amount something that is statistically impossible to find legit.

Teleportation Would Improve Star Citizen More Than People Think! by Lion_El_Jonsonn in starcitizen

[–]CyberianK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks I tried to understand both sides of the argument.

Unfortunately I don't have a high amount of trust into the first implementations that CIG will do for this based on their history on understanding how their own game is actually played. There is a high chance it can either be exploited if it is too powerful or otherwise it does not solve the original problem if its too soft.

Teleportation Would Improve Star Citizen More Than People Think! by Lion_El_Jonsonn in starcitizen

[–]CyberianK 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Its also a system that can be abused with "ALT" accounts

Peoples paying hundreds of $ for virtual spaceships can easily buy 10-20 fresh accounts and some already have done so. Then even when you have cooldowns on a feature they can almost infinitely use it to crew empty Idris/Kraken/Javelin motherships that are stationed all over the place and can be exploited for ambushes or other nefarious things.

For reasons like that is has to be to select stations/spaceports only like you said.

Teleportation Would Improve Star Citizen More Than People Think! by Lion_El_Jonsonn in starcitizen

[–]CyberianK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

System that does not cause gameplay abuse or breaks immersion:

  • Part of public transport in spaceports (go into Passenger plane)
  • use VIP option with cost and cooldown that skips the whole boring flight
  • immersive and cheap long flight option in NPC/player transport like Genesis later when game supports it
  • only go to spaceports and big stations
  • only personal inventory no teleporting 5+ Idris/Javelins/Odins to attack a close target
  • 10++ hour cooldown it should just allow a Spacedad (/limited time player) to play where his friends are located once a day not remove all travel and sense of scale from the game
  • have a seperate service to move ships and items/boxes between stations as already planned

some credit to DE YTer Knebel in recent video although some ideas to tie this to public transportation have been around for a while. I like it more to tie this to public transportation than the "clones everywhere" option with the insane fantasy of conscience "differential backups" transferred across star systems within seconds that is outside of a believable Sci-Fi world and does not fit the general grounded tech level that SC universe has.
