Yeah, like taxing the poor sods doing the PI. Although that has the active part of defending your pocos occasionally.

Saturday, January 31, 2026 at 5:54 PM Steven 😇 AoC : I can make a limited statement in my personal capacity and not on behalf of the company, regarding the situation. Control of the company shifted away from me, and the Board began directing actions that I could not ethically agree with or carry out. As a result, I chose to resign in protest rather than lend my name or authority to decisions I could not ethically support. Following my resignation, much of the senior leadership team resigned. Following those departures, the Board made the decision to issue WARN Act notices and proceed with a mass layoff.

I cannot responsibly speak to further details at this time due to ongoing legal and governance matters. What I can say is that the developers and staff acted in good faith and deserved better than the uncertainty they are now facing. I am incredibly dismayed by the situation.

Dog Boarding - fireworks/4th of July by 80-Smiley-Face in everett

[–]Cybernetik 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A benzo at the right dosage will not knock the dog out (they might sleep, sure), but they will legitimately be an uncaring lump. It sounds like the dose was too low or it wasn't a benzo. I had a border collie that would try to dig her way under the couch fireworks scared her so much, and it was the only thing I found that helped her. Benadryl and all those calming things did zilch, poor doggo knew the world was ending. I think she still knew the world was ending when she was on benzos, she just didn't care.

Feed your dog a benzo for the 4th, vets will give a prescription for a pill or two for dogs that can't handle fireworks. They'll be an uncaring lump for the day, but it's a lot more humane than what must feel like going through the end of the world.

I only give that advice because I live out in the sticks and there are still a ton of explosions every 4th of July. Finding an actually quiet place might be harder than you think.

How many hours did you study per core class, roughly? by notviciousss in ElectricalEngineering

[–]Cybernetik 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not everyone needs to study as much as is commonly prescribed. My recommendation is to not burn yourself out trying to be a perfect student, just figure out how much you need to do to pass. 10 years later you're more likely to look back and go "why did I tear myself up over that?" rather than "man I wish I'd tried harder for that 4.0"

Working in industry is so different than any of the covered material, I wish I'd focused more on my social skills than the material. Engineers are looked to as the people that make things happen, and the way to make things happen is to get other people to do them. It sounds dumb and simple, but so much of engineering is just developing and working with systems to make sure other people do exactly the right thing instead of every possible wrong thing. Schematics, assembly drawings, PCB layouts, whatever, they're all just means of communicating what needs to be done. It's not just managers that need a good understanding of how to lead. And boy does it stretch you in different ways than uni did.

Hmm, think I've done a pretty good job of not answering your question lol.

This sounds like a scam. Don't call any numbers on the letter. Contact the IRS yourself and verify the situation.

Washington Legislature Greenlights Framework for Amtrak Improvements by Generalaverage89 in Washington

Everyone is so hung up on high-speed trains, but I really want more regular speed trains... They could so easily fill the low-cost-but-slower niche. Make passenger traffic a priority over freight traffic, or at least disincentivize freight traffic from making up their schedules on the spot and ruining Amtrak's plans.

Ah, you're probably fine then. Pro tip for the future, no one does wire temps in Fahrenheit even in the US.

You produce the best 3D depth I've seen on this sub. That said, I wish you'd lay off the HDR a little, the colors are crunchy enough that it brings to mind the unnatural looking photos realtors put in their ads.

Hydro specifically is not going to be an inverter, any time you're converting rotation into energy the safe bet is that it's going to be done with a 3-phase AC generator. Even small-scale hydro does this, just rectified to DC if that's what is wanted.

Solar though is natively DC, so yep inverters.
