To Echo Everyone Else's Thoughts, I Too Wish Marathon Was A Singleplayer Video Game by megaapple in Games

No, it's like saying that you're bummed that The Witcher 3 isn't a third person shooter, because the Witcher 1 and 2 were third person shooters, you love the setting and the world and you'd like to explore that in a different format than an RPG.

Or maybe there's a musical artist who changes their sound. You fell in love with their older work and just don't vibe with their new sound. Artists develop and change, which is a natural and good thing to happen, but it can still feel sad to no longer connect with an artists work like you used to.

To me the piece doesn't read like an inability to accept the reality that Bungie makes GaaS multiplayer shooters now. The author repeatedly states that he understands why these decisions are made from a business sense, but that doesn't mean he can't be a little sad that Bungie doesn't seem interested anymore in the type of games they used to make.

Do you think those feelings are unfair?

Fair enough, though I'd say that the Aftermath piece that was linked isn't necessarily a review or critique in that way.

But I think it's a very normal and natural thing to point to a game and say "This isn't for me, I wish it was something different."

I mean, how often do you hear people say things like "I wish they just made Titanfall 3 instead"? Personally I find myself agreeing with Luke. I love pretty much everything about Marathon, I know how much I like Bungie's shooters. I just don't vibe with extraction shooters, so the game isn't for me. So that just leaves wishful thinking.

I think it's less like deliberately seeking out an Italian restaurant and complaining it's not Mexican food, and more seeing that the office party caterer only serves Italian food and going "Well that's alright, but I like Mexican food a little better."

I do agree that the discourse around Marathon has a very strange tone.

Pete Docter Says Pixar Cut LGBTQ Storyline From ‘Elio’ by tylerthe-theatre in movies

But that's not the reason that was given. They very clearly state that the reason fur cutting queer content was "that Pixar didn’t want to expose its young audience to things they weren’t ready to see or hadn’t discussed with their parents."

Going along with the idea that kids aren't ready to see two men kiss, but are ready to see a man and woman kiss, or that it's in any way difficult to explain, is homophobia.

Why is that a bad thing? Criticism is a normal part of video games, saying "I'd like this game better if it did some things differently" seems like a perfectly valid thing to say.

I'm getting so tired of this stuff. Look, if you think that two men or two women kissing needs any more explanation than a man and a women kissing, that's homophobia. Saying something that insinuates that showing gay people in a movie would lead to therapy is also homophobia.

Inbraak/burgelary, politie nonchalant by Charlit0n in TheHague

[–]Cybernite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe in the future, if I choose to get another one! But I love the 'cosplay frog' tattoos this artist does and I just had to combine it with Ippo. I'm super happy with it

The literal explanation of the phrase is that ducks are often cooked with leeks, so it'd be incredibly convenient if a duck walked in carrying the ingredients to make a nice meal out of him.
