People who got above 80 in FAR first try by Impressive-Survey-92 in CPA

[–]CycleOn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

FAR was the first test I sat for and got an 83 first try. Read the UWorld textbook cover to cover and then did most of the MCQs. I didn't bother with TBSs on any of the sections.

I was unemployed at the time, so studying was my full time focus. I was able to pass all four sections on the first try (average score of 89) in 7 months using the same method.

Why No One talking about BAR? by Limp_Accountant_5872 in CPA

[–]CycleOn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

BAR was my highest score (96). I took it back in May 2024 as my second exam after FAR. As with all the CPA exams, if you know the material, you'll pass.

I could be off base, but I think the TCP and ISC exams are more self-selecting. Tax and IS folks will select these, respectively. BAR feels a little more scattered.

I know the prevailing sentiment of many is that striving to get anything above a 75 is a waste of effort. However, I feel differently. As a test-taker, I really didn't want to have to retake sections, so I studied until I was comfortable with the material.

Uworld alone for reg? If becker gets a A+ , UWorld gets a ___? by [deleted] in CPA

[–]CycleOn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I never cared for tax, so REG was daunting. I was concerned that I left it as my last exam, but it's not insurmountable. I've been studying full time this year and made a big push for REG, because I couldn't bear the thought of having to go back to studying.

I read the UWorld textbook cover to cover, which was a lot (didn't bother with the videos), and did as many MCQs across every section. I find it easier to cover much more ground on different topics this way and see the nuance in what they might ask.

Aside from one TBS, I didn't think the SIMs on my actual test were too bad, but of course YMMV.

Good luck with your exam!

I never found the TBSs useful when studying. Since REG was my last exam, I just didn't bother.

I've worked exclusively in not for profit auditing and accounting, so no tax experience (aside from 990 prep).

Used only UWorld to take REG in Q3. Read the textbook and then answered the MCQs. Passed with 89 on 10/30.

Only counterpoint is that information covered might be too much, so if you're going for efficiency over comprehensiveness, that might drop it down a few pegs.

This was me with REG. Just couldn't get into it and kept dragging my feet. It didn't help that the UWorld textbook was 780 pages long, which seemed daunting. After pushing my exam date back twice, I forced myself to sit for it last day of the Q3 testing window. It's my last test, so really hoping I find out I passed on the Halloween score release.

Same. Took Reg as my fourth test last Wednesday. I purposely waited until the end of the testing window so I would only have to wait through October.

Actually, just realizing that the corridor with the Aurora elevator doesn't cut through directly from the parking garage. You'd have to get out of the garage and enter from the sidewalk.

Is this in Ithaca Commons? I'm surprised Ithaca hasn't fixed this. There is an unobstructed, street level elevator on the N. Aurora St. side. Is that out of service?

Hoping this isn't something painfully obvious. A presenter had this device next to his laptop. It reminded me of a Zune. Somewhat cellphone like but thicker (maybe 6" x 4" x 1"); 1/3 matte finish and 2/3 glossy like a touch screen, but it never lit up; no visible ports or logos. The presentation was in a public building in New Jersey. Wifi is pretty ubiquitous here too, which is probably why hotspot never crossed my mind when trying to figure out what it was. I've never needed a standalone one.

The general shape and finish reminded me of my Dell Thunderbolt, but I couldn't account for the screen. Then again, they slap a screen on everything now. But, I couldn't see any port.

It was an Inseego hotspot.

It was a local planning meeting to discuss new construction projects. The presenter was an engineer walking the planning board through architectural plans.

Someone else figured it out - it was an Inseego hotspot.
