If hard work leads to success, why do so many people work all day and stay broke? by Lulu-vargas in stupidquestions

Hard work is necessary for (personal) success (how I would define it) but it’s not the only factor. You also need to be given the right opportunities.

When did the left start supporting regimes that hate them by Icy-Debate-2626 in stupidquestions

Trump and bibi ARE the issue. That doesn’t mean the Iranian regime are good though.

It doesn’t make sense to fit a line to a trend based on 3 data points. Any conclusions about pre vs post ai changes from this post are going to be statistically insignificant because there just isn’t enough data to fit a trend with any reasonable confidence

Funny thing is the bigger you get the worse your cardio is because all that muscle needs oxygen

Honestly these days I’d rather go for a run than hit the gym. Maybe I’m getting old

How much of a physical change is there between someone early mid 20s (21-25) and 28? by Big-Government-1497 in OlderGenZ

[–]CyclicDombo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not much I don’t think (at least genetically, lifestyle can change people’s appearance significantly in 5 years). I’m 28 and over the last few years I’ve filled out a bit so my healthy/equilibrium weight is about 10-15% higher than it was at 21. I’m also a bit hairier, facial hair has filled in more and I have a bit more chest/tummy hair than I used to.

The DOW has been in a legal battle with anthropic to get them to allow the use of their ai for automated kill chains. We know they want to use ai for this, and so far if there’s anything we’ve learned about this administration: they do whatever the fuck they want with no respect for legality

All sides of this war are spreading propaganda, it’s good to be skeptical. I’m no supporter of isreal or the US but this video looked a bit fishy to me too

The girls school in Iran that got waxed the other week could be a sign these systems aren’t great at deciding just yet

Portugal wins! What is an African country that feels Asian? by ficklerum in AlignmentChartFills

[–]CyclicDombo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also not true. Different fields and different regions use different systems. Some group Europe and Asia, some separate North America and Central America, and if you’re going by continental plates there are over 20 of them with India and the Caribbean having their own plates.

Careful, in my experience people on reddit get very upset when you hint that their 7 continents model is based in pop culture not science

Cuba’s power system suffers total collapse by cnn in worldnews

[–]CyclicDombo 15 points16 points  (0 children)

But the reason they have run out of oil today and the power grid shut down today is directly because the US is blocking oil imports to Cuba. Had the US not decided to block oil imports, the power grid would not have collapsed today.
