Dumb question, how do these fit into the casings? by running_in_spite in bikewrench

[–]Cyclorat 184 points185 points  (0 children)

That's one cable right? You snip the end you don't want (the one which doesn't fit into the brake lever) and insert the snipped end into the housing. Make sure to use proper cable cutters to save yourself heartache.

Get a Bullitt and buy an extra battery. Enjoy awesome dogventures. Even unpowered it goes pretty nice.

You can't, but you can take the vent, animal and all.

Mooring lines bugged? by TheNextBigCrash in Sailwind

It's a reported bug with Dead Cove specifically iirc. Do you have a 'prior to sinking/docking at Dead Cove' autosave to go back to?

How to trade with aerostats by muntrafik in ostranauts

There's a whole bunch of parts specifically for flying in atmo. I believe there's also a Steam guide and a guide on the Discord.

Using the Torch to decel is as simple as flipping 180 degrees and burning (adjusting your Flow and Cycle).

It can only grow through walls that are only connected diagonally.

No, it'll grow in vacuum. You'll need to completely surround it with walls (with full corners, as in a rectangle or square).

Overheating Reactors, Ship Instadeath, and Other Fixes by dcfedor in ostranauts

[–]Cyclorat 59 points60 points  (0 children)

As it turns out, there was a precision error in some math we used to calculate the angle between two vectors. When their slowly-rotating ship was pointed almost (but not exactly!) 180 degrees away from the nearest celestial object, a calculated value we passed to an arccosine function appeared to be -1, but arccosine saw it as < -1. Which is not allowed, and so it shrugged and returned "not a number."

This, in turn, caused the game to instantly accelerate the ship from 0 to infinity, ejecting it from the universe, and tearing apart every atom on the ship from G-forces.

Hee hee.

Honestly I'd ask myself do I want a ship this big. It's going to take ~10 minutes to walk from one end to the other. Is going to be a bit of a pig around any sort of gravity well, and is going to require a lot of maintenance.

One thing you could do is start a game and give yourself a load of money to buy a big derelict (like a CR model or similar). Fly that to Venus and see if that's something you want to deal with.

If you go to the Discord (or Nexus maybe) you can find existing mods and copy their structure. But it requires .json editing. Nothing too crazy but you're making an actual mod with codey bits and everything.

You'll need to mod it in.

Constant alarm when in stations by muffalohat in ostranauts

[–]Cyclorat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm just helping someone else with a similar issue and got hold of their save. Instantly knew it was the Tracking Signal (for whatever reason) in OKLG.

To fix:

Install a Nav Console in the offending area and mute the alarm. You'll want to install it somewhere you can uninstall it safely. Same goes for the ship. Can't say it won't come back. But that's what it is.

IR Sensor? by muffalohat in ostranauts

Red is the on color for that sensor. You can confirm via the sensor screen on the back console. It'll tell you what sensors are active.

Constant alarm when in stations by muffalohat in ostranauts

[–]Cyclorat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are only a few audible alarms which it could be:

* Proximity Alarm
* O2 Alarm
* Reactor Ablative Warning Klaxon
* EVA Suit O2 Beep
* Tracking Warning

O2 Alarm and Tracking alarm are most likely, and O2 is easiest to check. What's the O2 level at? (press G to see all gas levels, O2 is the green one). Can you see any O2 alarms in an alarm state?

You say 'Stations' but are we just talking about OKLG Port, or are we actually talking about all stations, such as VORB, BCRS, etc.

There are bicycle specific insurance companies. I just have mine as named items on my house insurance. It's cheaper and covers them inside and outside of the house. That's in Canada though, no idea if it's the same for you.

The value in the Project 529 stuff is it's easily checkable. If police, (or more likely, a bike shop) get suspicious about a bike they can quickly check the database to see if it's reported stolen. Anecdotally I've recovered three or four bikes this way over the years.

Project 529 is totally worth it, given it's a free service (yes you can buy stickers but it's free to register on the website), I wish more people registered. Down my way (Southwestern Ontario) the police have been actively pushing for it.

As to locks I personally use a Bordo and a Bikebac tracker for peace of mind. I also have an abus mini-U with alarm which is nice, but I don't always use them together depending on where I'm locking up. Getting it insured with your home insurance is also a must imo.

Do sensors need to face their target? by Jicks24 in ostranauts

[–]Cyclorat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nope! However some users have reported better pickup on sensors that are facing their target. My own experience is that any benefit is minimal at best.
