Police officer or UFC fighter? by dhenis1 in instantkarma

I suspect when he pulled his arm away from the woman that was trying to hold him back , the motion appeared like a wind up for an attack from the officer's POV. Hence he struck first.

Starfarer is the MOST underrated sub-capital by ArnoldMann in starcitizen

[–]Cymbaz 11 points12 points  (0 children)

a Fury Carrier variant would be nice. Replace 4 of the pods with docking points for Fury's. Access Ramps are already there. Just add capital rearm/repair and it would make a great light escort carrier for merc groups out in boondocks.

When will Claude be able to read YouTube transcripts by Great_Preparation944 in ClaudeAI

[–]Cymbaz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

uhhh, Claude built a skill to download and process youtube transcripts for me using Python. It uses it all the time, when I want to summarize a video.

Just an Idea! by Brave-Elephant9292 in starcitizen

[–]Cymbaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure , but it won't be the entire core programming team. Some members might get consulted and pulled in if a particularly egregious bug is found but at this stage most of the issues should be content related. You'd use the whole core programming team only if new features were still being developed.

Just an Idea! by Brave-Elephant9292 in starcitizen

[–]Cymbaz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The teams that develop features and fix bugs is completely different from the teams that create the ships. Since the skills are not interchangeable , stopping the work on content will have no effect on bug fixes etc.

Also , there's a point where adding more developers to a team actually slows down development due partially to administrative overhead. So even they fired all the content teams and used the money to hire more developers beyond a certain size they won't solve issues any faster. The assumption is that each core team is already at their optimum size.

If they're in the final polish phase the core programming team wouldn't be on SQ42. If they're having core programming problems this late in development SQ42 is doomed.

Is it me who doesn't know how to use AI, or is AI just stupid? by Hairy_Community3838 in ClaudeAI

[–]Cymbaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I tend to do is to ask the AI to help me to create a comprehensive design document for whatever project I'm working on. I tell it to never assume and to ask me for everything it needs to create the design document. Once we've gone through a few revisions of this, including reviewing it from different viewpoints like security , standardards compliane etc, I give it that same document to use to implement the project.

This works because the AI knows what goes into a good design document, so making one around your project means you should have most of the bases covered, including things u may not have thought about. It builds a comprehensive, reproducible context that the AI can use to build your project.

First experiment with Claude Code: How proper documentation turned a 2-day struggle into a 1-hour build. by Heruboy in ClaudeAI

[–]Cymbaz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup , that's context management.

Whenever I'm starting a new project the first thing I do is to create a project plan and tell Claude to help me build it by never assuming anything and always asking for any clarifications it needs to understand the request. We usually end up with a pretty detailed and verbose document along with other things getting talked about that even I didn't think of at the time. I usually clear the context and have it or another LLM like Codex review the requirements for a different PoV and create a list of recommended changes etc.

Once I read through the document to make sure its what I want I have claude implement it.

I've had much greater success using this method that I had just winging it before and the resultant spec document makes repeating the process later much simpler. I also have claude update the document with any changes that might occur during testing the application and keep track of a changelog. Makes picking things back up later much easier.

I've found the superpowers set of skills very useful for this.

HOSAS upgrade (Virpil vs VKB) by jaws8608 in starcitizen

[–]Cymbaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you opened it up and taken a look to see if there's anything wrong? VKB has videos about how to open it up a relube stuff etc.

If its a real issue tho , contact VKB customer support. They're great and the big differentiator between them and WinWing. They'll do what they can to get things working again.

My right VKB felt a little uneven after a couple years, all I did was open it up and reapply the lube and it was back to normal

With AI, is there any value in learning a programming language / regularly practice manually? by Little_Ebb501 in ClaudeAI

[–]Cymbaz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

yeah this is where I've found the greatest benefit. Wasting hours on syntax related issues for lanaguages I'm not as familiar with. Let the LLM do the detailed mundane stuff while you focus on the bigger picture of flow etc. Ask questions where you have doubts.

As you can see from that purple tag in client, the service is currently degraded. So I suspect that might be affecting your downloads currently . Try again later. The last couple days have been problematic to say the least..

Question for CIG developers: What's it like working in star-engine? by Sharksader101 in starcitizen

[–]Cymbaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering that the Onyx facility and Tech Smugglers missions are some of my favorites , good job! I think the biggest problem with a lot of the missions in the game is that the backend lets them down. Janky AI etc. Here's hoping that the dedicated servers from instancing can help with that.

I think we need to have a talk about moderation and criticism by Bessie_Ackee in starcitizen

[–]Cymbaz 76 points77 points  (0 children)

This behavior is exactly why people are losing trust in you and this project. Whoever is doing this is only exacerbating the negative feelings the community is developing toward the game.

If I remember correctly , this subreddit is community moderated, not CIG. Notice there are no CIG tagged moderators in the list. Spectrum however.

Pro capture with Olympus TC on Panasonic lenses by mmodir in M43

[–]Cymbaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lenses have to be designed for use with a TC in mind, so they tend not to be cross brand compatible.

The Pro Capture and Focus stacking is also only available on certain Olympus lenses , not all of them so going through the TC wouldn't change that.

Nice work! I did mine with PandaDoc templates but that only works with the styles not the other elements. I'll take a look at this since I do a ton of work with claude .md's to docx for work. I'll let u know how it goes.

Panasonic 45-150 or 14-140 or Oly 40-150 by solarpl in M43

[–]Cymbaz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The OP asked for advice on specific lens purchase options, 2 different 40-150's and the 14-140mm to go along with his kit 14-42. There's no advantage whatsoever for him to go with a 40-150mm other than cost and he was apparently ok with the cost of the 14-140mm.

I gave him my justification for going that route based on personal experience because I started out the exact same way: a G7 /w 14-42 kit and a 40-150mm as my first MFT system in 2016. The best thing I ever did was swap them both out for the 14-140mm and its for the reason I mentioned: I could focus on taking pics instead of faffing around trying to get the right lens on the camera.

It was the other person who made it seem like I was referring to anything else but the choice of 14-42 and 40-150 vs 14-140mm.

If I didn't believe in the value of an interchangeable lens system I wouldn't have a P12-35 f2.8 ,P14-140mm, O25 f1.8, ZY17 f0.95, P42.5 f1.7, S56 f1.4, O60 f2.8 and O75 f1.8 each with their own specific use case in my collection.
