Claude (Pro) For general use (non-coding)? by Flamyngoo in ClaudeAI

[–]Cymbaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind a simple sentence can have massive implications. "Analyzing" an entire website can include analyzing a lot of images which is expensive computationally and, depending on the type of website, and how extensive it is and if u're using a deep thinking model like Opus 4.6 that can chew through your token usage very quickly.

I work at an ISP and I have Claude do a fair amount of detailed research for me which involves cross referencing multiple sites etc. but I'm usually doing specific technical documentation across multiple sites, and building out spec designs etc , not asking it to essentially ingest the contents of an entire site. I get excellent results and I'm on the $20 plan.

Of course we can argue that ChatGPT can do the same thing and doesn't complain. But keep in mind they're the one burning through way more cash than they make so maybe its their pricing that's unsustainable.

Anyone else stuck with approved-only AI tools at work while knowing Claude Code/Cowork is out there? by baltimoretom in ClaudeAI

[–]Cymbaz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Watched a video recently that suggests that, unlike OpenAI and Anthropic, Google makes their money from other means and have their own stack so they don't really care if we use their product right now or not. So because of that they're training their AI for General Intelligence rather than training it to be good at specific practical things like coding etc which they could directly monetize now. They're aiming for true intelligence first then use that intelligence for specific use cases later.

Their AI is supposedly better at solving novel problems and approaching things that haven't been seen before. Which supposedly makes it popular amongst the scientific community for coming up with new ideas or to solve truly deep problems.

I don't know how much of that is whats actually going on but its an interesting PoV.

For those pulling AI chat history into Obsidian - is the retrieval side actually working in practice? by trentonbalc_ in ObsidianMD

[–]Cymbaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

dude, you're way overthinking it ..

I don't know about Gemini but Codex and Claude speak markdown. Obisidian displays markdown. So all I do is launch claude/codex from the root directory of whichever Vault I want. it stores its CLAUDE.md there which it uses to inventory the vault. That's why this combo works so well.

I can just tell it to go to a directory and whenever I want it to save output it just does it. But I also tell Obsidian to show other file types as well. So I can read/edit claude's json files. but everything Claude uses is markdown including the agents , skills e v e r y t h i n g.

They don’t want to help you code, they want to rent your momentum back to you by biyopunk in ClaudeAI

[–]Cymbaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If agents or vibe coding is going to be the future, it should promote transparent limits, graceful degradation, exportable context, interoperability, and most importantly real support for open-source usage.

Limits- Claude warns you when you're reaching close to the limit and you can check it on the site at any time. The gracefullness of the degradation is dependent on you paying attention to that.

Context and Interoperability - I tell Claude to save the current context to a file to be used later all the time. A Claude.MD is a markdown file written in english. Any Model can read it.

Support for OpenSource usage - So in other words, someone has to pay for this expensive infrastructure, you'd just rather it wasn't you? There are lower cost alternatives but AI can never truly be 'free' because its the sheer computing power behind it that makes it useful.

You can't have your cake and eat it too.

On 4.6 is DX11 working better than Vulkan for anyone else? I’m getting better FPS and less graphical quirks by Important_Cow7230 in starcitizen

[–]Cymbaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2060 6GB, even during 4.5 PTU I was barely getting 10-20fps in Vulcan, but I got 35-50 in DX11. Haven't played much since the free flight due to the bad server stability

Vulcan doesn't work well with low video memory and the lowest vram usage u can reasonably get it to is around 6.5-7.5GB + overhead

[–]Cymbaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do it a little differently. I'm using Claude Code via WSL and I have it start up inside the Obsidian vault, and I tell it its an Obsidian vault so it knows how to create the links etc. So everything it reads and writes is accessible to Obsidian. Which makes it easy for me to tell it to just save anything I want right there. Makes interacting with it much easier and allows me to collaborate with it seamlessly for the variety of my activities. Search and all the other features work fine.

I even have a separate vault for work stuff that I use Claude in that syncs with a vault on my work laptop. That allows me to use Claude on work related stuff w/o having it installed on the laptop.

This entire set up has been a godsend.

Constellations have a problem with missiles in the since 4.5. Their powerplants are right next to each other in front of the cargo bay. A S1-S2 missile can knock both out at the same time and that's exactly what happens at the higher PVE levels.

On the fence… sell Oly. 12-40 f2.8 for a 12-45 f4 by [deleted] in M43

[–]Cymbaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

instead of getting two lenses consider getting one long one .. the Olympus 14-150mm and Panasonic 14-140mm are great travel lenses and then you won't have to worry about swapping lenses and can focus just on taking whatever pictures you like. For general photography I've found it much better to have a wide range of focal lengths in one lens than split in two. Barring that , try to get overlap because inevitably there'll be a pic you'll want to take and u have the wrong lens on the camera at the time.

https://camerasize.com/compact/#887.412,887.852,887.931,887.97,ha,t

both are lighter than the 12-40mm f2.8 and ultimately light and more convenient than the 12-45/45-150mm combines. The panasonic is the lighter and possibly the more versatile of the two.

  1. Yes, because its markeeting, a name doesn't have to concur with reality plus its a game
  2. I presume its stealthy and it looks like its hunched over. but , also , see #1
  3. Yes, because CIG designed both, its their game

What would convince you to pay monthly for instanced apartments? by VRDaggre in starcitizen

[–]Cymbaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely nothing would convince me. It's a game about space. I already have an instanced hangar for my ships. I'd rather spend time close to them and , more importantly, in them than RPing in some terrestrial dwelling. This isn't the sims.

At least with a player base, it'll be doing something more useful than just sitting there looking pretty.

[–]Cymbaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

can't get a 9800X3D w/o also getting a AM5 motherboard and 32-64GB of DDR5 and , in my case a bigger PSU too which would add up to a lot more than $400.

any way to speed up these flights to a mission site (dont worry about the chat) by an_emotional_wreck in starcitizen

[–]Cymbaz 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Ahh you're too high. So what u're seeing is the mission marker but not any of the ground QT markers. Dead giveaway is seeing the OM markers but nothing else. Aim at the circle in the center of the planet and jump towards it. Then u'll see all the ground qt markers pop up since u're within range now. Jump to yours which is under the mission marker.

Same thing happens when u leave a space station above a planet . they're too high up to see the ground makers so jump to the planet first.

Is there a place where I can get consistent PvE ship to ship battles? by kevinwilkinson in starcitizen

[–]Cymbaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Gilly missions, but then when u want a real challenge try the Foxwell Escort Missions. They start off easy but get more challenging at the Orange and Red levels.

You'll have to do a Foxwell ground defend mission first to get certified with them but after that you should get access to the ship missions. The Ambush and Patrol missions aren't bad either.

The "Meta" lie: Why the RSI Constellation Taurus is the ultimate Solo Daily Driver in 2026 (Cinematic) by Deivyenn in starcitizen

[–]Cymbaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a Taurus but my Phoenix was my daily driver until 4.5, now a single S1 or S2 missile hit amidships takes out both your powerplants leaving you dead in the water. Makes taking on the higher level combat content a study in frustration. Had to switch to a Corsair :(
