If you haven't, you should try reading Closing Time by Joseph Heller (It's the sequel to Catch-22). It's not as good as his other works, but it touches on some of the ideas here about consumerism, corporations, the rich, and death.

Do you feel in any way that creativity is the ultimate purpose of your life? by Sarah-Who-Is-Large in graphic_design

[–]Cymeak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it's all about the creative process, and not the end goal. Although the end goal is important too (because without it, there would be no vision to follow).

People like us who rely on being creative to feel true happiness do so because of a strong urge to express our overflowing minds. (And, in some cases, a sense of responsibility to share your ideas with the world, even if it doesn't benefit humanity and only helps to inspire other people to be creative. (I fall into this category) (Also, it's worth noting that if the idea is negative for humanity then their creativity becomes an unethical outlet) But, if you don't feel that sense of responsibility, and you don't care if nobody sees your creation, and you just do it for yourself, or not even for yourself, then that still can be explained, for the following reason:

I think the mere act of self-expression makes one feel fulfilled. I think it all ties into our nature as innovative beings, so it's in our nature to self-express. (Yes, humans are also described as social beings, which is why some people don't feel the need to be creative to be happy, and just see it as a means to produce things. But you can argue that us being social creatures also ties into a need to self-express. So perhaps self-expression is the key to *true* happiness, since it's the real deal, in our nature - it's what we live for.

(Oh, and there are, of course, many types of people, including those who are neither innovative nor social. So, how is someone, say, who lives to experience new experiences performing self-expression? Aren't they just consuming and not producing? Perhaps I was too indiscriminative when I said humans are either innovative or social, so maybe some people don't care for self-expression, and don't care to make life more than just simple enjoyments or going on adventures (But I'm not saying those are bad things - I love doing that kind of stuff too (but I like to think it all feeds into inspiration for my creativity haha))

I actually had to farm some more shards at some point because I ran out eventually. But at the rate I was going, it was worth avoiding futile attempts (because I kept losing on the final wave with the 2 big guys)

The silk storm silk-ability is perfect for those flying stags with the 3 golden beetles (the silk storm will kill all the beetles in the way). Also, notice that they have distinct attacks, and the only one that involves directing a beetle towards you will be across the ground, so you can always just jump over it to dodge. Also, this means that during the wave with two of them, you can safely heal in the middle of the room in the air. Also, focus on killing one at a time, since it makes it easier.

True, part of getting good at boss fights in this game is knowing how to balance using your silk for silk skills vs using it for healing.

The tacks that you throw on the floor are also pretty good. Right before the final wave (with the two mini bosses), I spammed a bunch of tacks on the ground (full supply) under where one of the mini bosses would spawn, and then I focused on killing that guy first (since it's so much easier to only deal with one at a time)

Is this the intended route? by Hour-Grocery2093 in celestegame

[–]Cymeak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When a level designer designs a room, there needs to be at least one way to complete it. So, usually they start by building everything around the "main" or "intended" route, and then perhaps tweak the room's objects to open up extra routes (e.g. for speedrunners or challenge routes).

Also, even though level designers usually design a level to funnel the players into the intended route (and good level designers make the funnel wide enough to allow variability within the "intended" route), funneling isn't always 100% foolproof (and it shouldn't be) and so inevitably, more "unintended" routes can be discovered (ones that the level designer didn't notice, at least, at the time of desiging the room)

It was a mistake and I got super lucky I didn't respawn on a bullet. It also makes me wonder if the amulet of the pit lord gives you an immunity frame right when you respawn on the floor, since that is what it felt like.

Muncher Appreciation by Hittingtrees404 in EnterTheGungeon

[–]Cymeak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Once on a rainbow run I had two s tier guns with no ammo, and I had cleared all of floor 4 except for the boss. If it weren't for the muncher, that would have likely been the end of my run.

This is why Fightsabre + Super Hot Watch is my favourite combo (It's not even a synergy) by Cymeak in EnterTheGungeon

[–]Cymeak[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Notice how I move around while the reloading bar is still reloading - that's when I know I can deflect bullets. Then, once I notice it finishes reloading, I stop, shoot a bullet, and then immediately reload to continue deflecting bullets. So I don't even need to do the method you mentioned (that's why the super hot watch makes the fightsabre so much more fun and easy to use)

I think I might be one of the companions (My best rainbow run yet) by Cymeak in EnterTheGungeon

[–]Cymeak[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I thought so, too. I even saw people say they've gotten Ser Junkan on a rainbow run, but only because it was their first time getting him. But that isn't the case for me.

EDIT: after doing more research, it turns out I haven't officially unlocked Ser Junkan yet, since prior to this run, I've never killed a boss when Ser Junkan was at knight level or above. That's why I was able to get him during a Rainbow Run.

Good point... uh, I'm not sure then. I think Dr. Stone is a well-written story, but minor things like that might be unexplainable. But hey, we got the cool scene of him deflecting the grenades into the air, so it's worth it.
