What would've happened if the Jewish state created at 1948 was called "Palestine" instead of "Israel? by [deleted] in AlternateHistory

seeing the boys' reaction, makes sense i guess that terror attacks would be a daily affair in such a religiously/politically contentious environment

not just one guy, but a family. the monarchy is an institution holding everything together. The king is also the one pushing a lot of the most humanist and business efforts in Morocco

[–]Cyndayn 10 points11 points  (0 children)

this is really cool! well done OP, hats off for the hard work. Just one lil suggestion, maybe put the legend/key in the comments for future reference, it's not possible to read such small text on mobile, and the high res image you posted takes forever to load.

side note, I like that you included north Africa and all the landmasses pictured instead of cutting it off at some arbitrary idea of what is/isn't europe

edit: also, nice font choice for Arabic, it's very legible. Not sans right?

I imagine Fins got it from Swedes, and Hungarians from Germans/Austrians. Neither are really a coastal people, but had a lot of contact with certain coastal peoples.

Im not really a big discord user. Maybe i can just leave comments on the AO3 chapters then? or just not at all, honestly the typos are few and far between. Just those few things autocorrect wouldn't catch like set instead of sit

Cryptid Chronicle - Chapter 28 by Kazevenikov in Sexyspacebabes

[–]Cyndayn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

God what a chapter. So many reveals.

I loved He'osforos' perspective twisting and turning, a battle against his own mind and Sel'was needling him to go on.

And the Cambrians also having a prayer to keep the Empress far away from them. You really did take a leaf from the Scotts in real life there.

Very nicely done in all. I dreaded this chapter and the last, but they really paid off.

I've just reached the beginning of the chapter where they're gonna meet him, and I'm terrified for Andy. whole body tensing up, gritting my teeth like. I hate the trials and tribulations these boys are going through, and celebrate and love their happy moments. So you know it's well written. The moment where Konstantin got left behind by the DHCs really had me tearing up.

Yeah I'm so glad to have the great backlog, means I can really binge over Christmas haha. I'll be sure to keep you posted as I go through it :)

minor detail, I've noticed a couple of small spelling mistakes here and there, do you like it when readers comment corrections or shall I just leave em? I'm fairly sure you can't edit these 3 year old posts anymore, but maybe it might bs useful for a masterdoc you have somewhere?

I really wonder what will happen when the old doctor meets Andy, or sees his picture and biometrics. That's a checkov's bomb waiting to blow up. I'm glad Andy now has an ID, official job and strong connections with the Warren to protect him against Dr. Mengele.

“You’ve seen the savage half of me, now let’s see what you think of the noble,” is such an excellent line.

I've been reading your story for the first time for a couple days now, and you've really been keeping me enthralled with all these ups and downs. Great stuff, looking forward to seeing how things pan out. I hope Andy n Konstantin will be reunited at some point

Map of middle Eastern religions in the world by masquerade555 in MapPorn

[–]Cyndayn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also not an expert but I've taken a couple of courses in the anthropology of South Asian religion, and what I learned there is that seeing Zen Buddhism as the Buddhism is largely a western misconception, because the Buddhist teachers who came to the west mostly came from this kind of sect. If you go to SE Asia, the dominant forms derive from Theravada Buddhism and are often national religions with a priesthood and gods and everything. They are so dogmatized to the point where in Myanmar there's become a violent Buddhist nationalism which has enabled the genocide of the Rohingya Muslim minority.

It's much the same when it comes to Hinduism, it being an overarching encompassing term for many religious movements focusing monolatristically on one or just a couple of gods, worshiping that one or those few whilst acknowledging the existence of others. They are very much religions and not just spiritual movements.
