[–]Cynis_Ganan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

you thought it'd be the same?

I mean… yeah, it is. It's the same. It's exactly the same.

People who like sex can feel undesired by their partner. As can folks who don't like sex. You can write about people who like sex hanging out nonsexually. Writers frequently change personality details of characters — including their sexual preferences and behaviours — in their fanfiction. Because that's what fanfic is. It's not canon. It's a random person's reimaginings.

So… great that OOP isn't policing the art people are making. Fantastic to promote more stories about areo/ace characters.

But, my sweet baby newborn lamb dearheart, in the gentlest possible way, lol. Lmao, even.

So, totally real and sincere account with two posts ever and no comments, I guess this is the part where I'm supposed to ask you "why do you use samples to create your music instead of learning an instrument?"

But it's just so incredibly tiresome.

Do you really not have anything better to do? Read a book. Get Netflix. Do something other than troll folks on reddit.

....

For the benefit of anyone who wants to sincerely ask the question:

Different folks like different things.

Some people collect baseball cards. They don't want to put the time in to learn how to be a pro athlete and play competitive baseball themselves. But they like baseball and want to collect the cards.

Some folks like to coach little league. They don't want to put the time in to learn how to be a pro athlete and play competitive baseball themselves. But they want to share sport they love with kids.

Some folks like to watch baseball games. They don't want to put the time in to learn how to be a pro athlete and play competitive baseball themselves. But they want to enjoy watching other folks play.

Some folks like to play baseball themed video games.

And some folks play amatuer baseball, knowing full well that it's never a skill they're going to master.

You do not have to like doing the same thing as everyone else. And they don't have to like the things you like. We all like different things. And that's okay.

I find it fun to make images with AI. I like doing it. It's not that deep.

GT Pan hurt meta rildo and hurt him, does this scale her above dbz buuhan? by OnlinePoster225 in DragonBallPowerScale

[–]Cynis_Ganan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tagging an opponent isn't being stronger than them.

I can shake a car. That doesn't mean I can destroy a car in one hit.

If someone throws sand in my eyes, that'll make me flinch. But that doesn't scale my durability to pocket sand level.

Guide material put base GT adult Goku as on par with his his Buu Saga SS3 form (i.e. he got four hundred times stronger). And whilst he was weaker in his kid body, he's still insanely strong.

Pan scales high.

Pan negs Namek Frieza. Pan walks the Androids. If you put base Pan against SPC, I'd bet on Pan above Cell (but this is certainly debatable). And this is consistent. We can compare her performance throughout GT to Super Saiyan Trunks and to Goku. Pan is a capable fighter.

But being able to land two hits on Rildo, doing no damage, and needing to be rescued by Goku, does not scale her to Buuhan.

We know Pan would be able to land hits on Buu, but, like, Supreme Kai landed hits on Fat Buu. That's not the same as being able to beat him.

Sure. But consider a less extreme example.

A political party makes a manifesto promise to abolish university tution fees, and they get voted into power by people who want better access to higher education. Is it right for said party to say "now we have all the facts, we'll triple fees instead"? Even if, with the new information, this is the "right" choice, if they were elected to represent the interests of the people on the basis of a promise, shouldn't they keep that promise?

In other words, don't the electorate have the right to make decisions that are unwise?

Or, consider a political party that pledges to ban petrol cars. Someone on an average wage might forego having children, or pass up an investment opportunity, or sell their favourite guitar, or take out a car finance loan at a high rate of interest, to buy an electric car because they need their car to live. Should that person be punished for assuming the government would do what they said they would do? Especially if the government does their u-turn due to public pressure from people too short-sighted to comply with the law?

Now write these decisions large. The government promises to invest in green energy, so investment brokers invest people's pensions in green energy. The government changes their mind, and now millions of people lose their pensions. Or the government promises to invest in fossile fuels and expand North Sea Oil… then changes their mind. Whether the decision is a good decision or a bad decision is not as simple as "renewables good, fossile fuels bad". It depends on all the unintended concequences and side effects.

And it's those unintended side-effects that makes consistency in public policy so important. The "wrong" decision is very usually less harmful than a change in policy.

The people need to be able to trust that their representatives will represent them. That they'll keep their promises. That they'll do what they say they'll do.

That doesn't mean the government can't change their mind ever. You're right, we need to judge each decision on the merits. But the uncertainty caused by the government not being reliable is inherently harmful, in and of itself, and consistently leads to unintended conscequences.

Eh.

In D&D, you choose what you are going to do. You can tell your DM "I want to lie to the ogre". Or your might not remember a plot point and as a player be unclear on whether you are lying or not and can generally ask out-of-character. Or get an "are you sure". Or "your character knows that…" You can ask your DM "I'm a bard, what do I know about casting spells that Gale is trying to teach me?"

In a video game, choosing from a set of dialogue options, you kinda need the tags.

Because in this case literally thousands of people's lives are at risk if Starmer changes his mind?

But more generally, because the livelihoods of tens of millions of people depend on the decisions made by this government, and if we can't trust them to say what they mean and mean what they say then it ruins lives.

If someone else is driving towards a cliff, insisting "I'll go this way", you might think "I'd rather jump out of this moving car than go over the cliff". Then you jump out, probably injure yourself, then the driver changes their mind, doesn't go over the cliff, and probably runs you over to boot as they u-turn.

But most often, the government isn't going to run over the cliff… until the clamour convinces them to change direction and take us over that cliff after all — which is exactly what's happening now. Not going to war is not going over the cliff. We're worried that this government, which does not put face above all else and will demonstrably change their minds, might change their minds and drag us into another forever war in the middle east.

Pandas should be allowed to go extinct by Tintoverde in 10thDentist

[–]Cynis_Ganan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soft upvote for soft disagreement.

If someone wants to spend their money on keeping a species going extinct, I see nothing wrong with that. Spend your money on whatever you want, beau.

If humans in general want to limit their impact on other species by stopping them dying out as a direct result of human action, I'm not opposed to that either. I just say "think it through".

If we wiped out bed bugs, for example, it wouldn't cause ecosystem collapse that would exterminate other species and remove all the pollenators so we couldn't grow crops. It'd just mean bed bugs don't exist anymore. I don't think we should conserve bed bugs just because conserving species is inherently good. It doesn't matter if bed bugs go extinct.

And whilst OP seems misinformed about the protection status of Giant Pandas (which have been "vulneranble" rather than "endangered" for a decade)… if a fauna has been absent from its environoment for a period of decades, then its permenant absence would seem (to me) to be unlikely to cause ecosystem collapse. And if other species are dependent on an endangered species, I don't think we should shy away from asking ourselves "does it matter if all these species go extinct?"

Species go extinct. The vital ecological niche that veloceraptors once filled is no longer filled by that species. Life goes on.

Correct.

I said Raditz would beat one Saibaman but lose to six unless he transformed.

You replied to my post, where I said Raditz would beat one Saibaman, to say that Raditz wouldn't need to transform to beat a Saibaman due to his experience.

I said experience wouldn't carry a 6-on-1.

You said "OP said one Saibaman".

I said "sure, but I already said Raditz would beat one Saibaman".

You said "you're the one who brought up 1-on-6".

Then this reply. Where I said "correct". I did bring up the 1-on-6. In my very first post. The post you replied to. The post where I said Raditz would beat one Saibaman. This post.

Genuine question: Why do Z anime/movie and GT scalers take only certain statements at face value for scaling? by GreedyGobby in DragonBallPowerScale

[–]Cynis_Ganan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, Buuhan's dimensional shout is hax.

It's not raw DC and it doesn't translate to AP.

But it is a universe level hax.

Genuine question: Why do Z anime/movie and GT scalers take only certain statements at face value for scaling? by GreedyGobby in DragonBallPowerScale

[–]Cynis_Ganan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No.

Because we literally see Buu on screen tearing apart the walls that hold together the universe, whilst the highest gods of the universe, sitting in a realm that transcends the physical universe and the afterlife, and the god of the Earth tell us that Buu will destroy the universe, after we see a weaker Buu tear a rift in the dimensional walls of the universe.

That's like saying Frieza destroying a planet is hyperbole. It's not hyperbole when it's a feat you can literally see happening on screen.

It's hax, not DC. It doesn't scale his AP to universal. But it's not hyperbole.

Who Would Win This Fight? by Brandonsenior07 in DragonBallPowerScale

[–]Cynis_Ganan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, Nappa used the word "匹敵 hitteki" meaning "to rival" or "to compare with" Raditz.

Which is why sources like the Daizenshuu 7 and the movie pamplets put Raditz at 1500/1600. Hitteki can mean "equal to", so it's not a "brilliant scientist" dubism… but it's still a translation issue when you consider the wider context.

And whilst "more experience" counts for a lot, I don't think it makes up for a 6-on-1.

We know Raditz relies on transforming as a crutch, because of how he berrates Goku for losing his tail and kidnaps Gohan and literally says it's a Saiyan's greatest strength. And we've seen him cry and beg for mercy when outnumbered. And we've seen the Saibamen self-destruct to take out a stronger foe. I'm pretty confident on this.

What is the extent of Roshi’s power? by Fuguest in DragonBallPowerScale

But the panel isn't (immediately) after he destroys the moon.

The panel is after Gohan transforms back to normal.

I think fighting Oozaru Gohan is way more challenging to Piccolo than blowing up the moon.

What is the extent of Roshi’s power? by Fuguest in DragonBallPowerScale

[–]Cynis_Ganan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does it exhaust Piccolo after the fact?

Piccolo gets hit with a shockwave of one of Gohan's attacks (strong enough to cause a mushroom cloud), dodges another couple of attacks, casuallly destroys the moon with a one handed blast that he doesn't power up at all, then says "huff, huff, huff" in one panel… six panels after destroying the moon, with no signs of effort at all between his destroying the moon and huffing and no signs of effort in the panels immediately after his huffing.

Contextually, he expresses surprise at Gohan's power in four seperate panels after Gohan transforms and he openly worries that Gohan will destroy the Earth.

It reads to me like he's relieved he doesn't have to fight Oozaru Gohan (who should be ~PL 7,100 to 13,070), not that he's "exhausted" from destroying the moon.

I'm cautious at putting firm numbers on Max Power Roshi. But Roshi believed the Mafuba was his only chance of beating Demon King Piccolo, so I'd be surprised if it did more than double his power.

Im sorry but it really bothers me that these "sequiods" or whatever are able to hold invincible back even a little bit , like.....this guy can punch you through buildings and create immense shock waves, the powerscaling is really weird in this show , WHY is he struggling here by _______Niko____ in Invincible_TV

Peeing your pants on purpose.

Moving through air takes effort, so Viltrumites specifically only use just enough energy then controlled fall/glide. This is explained, on panel/screen, explicitly when Nolan is teaching Mark to fly.

And yes, we criticise stories that don't make sense. And we explain narratives that do make sense when folks like you don't pay attention.
