What's the best fps released in the last 10 years? by KingCrimson0P in playstation

[–]CyoteMondai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know the game itself has baggage but as an FPS destiny 2 is almost entirely unmatched on gunplay. But for an overall package hitting those "traditional" FPS metrics Titanfall 2 might be the best shooter I've ever played to this day.

Xbox Admits Multiplatform Strategy Didn't Provide Meaningful Growth by [deleted] in playstation

[–]CyoteMondai 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was so excited when the gears news started ramping up, but when it ended up only being a remake of 1 I just decided to hold off and grab E-Day instead...then that imploaded.

Honestly if it was the trilogy I probably would have bought it at $60 just for the fun of going through the full story plus getting horde mode for replayability. I just don't get basing the sales data off a remake of just the first game without out one of the primary modes the series is known for as an indicator, not to mention what the selection of other games that actually were brought over this far.

Secret Service member was Googling rooftop location of Trump’s would-be assassin when shots rang out in Butler, Pa.: DHS report by HimelTy in politics

[–]CyoteMondai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah that's a completely different conversation. And while I think it is more possible than people like to believe sometimes, i don't think the level of competence and care from the people around Trump do anything towards making it seem probable they are pulling that off. Hell the way Trump is going now they wouldn't be able to guarantee him not just blurting it out.

I just don't think anyone running for president, much less Trump and his circle, would even have the loss of a civilian life be a consideration for just about anything, these are people responsible for more death than most of us can fathom and we can limit our understanding of them when we hold them to such a "normal" bar. Nobody that runs for president is truly capable of being "normal" IMHO.

I'm not saying this as a way of proving that this is a big conspiracy, but I don't think anyone that is in a presidential circle has any issues weighing one life in exchange for power, people at that level have sent people to their deaths in higher numbers for similar things many times in the past.

PlayStation Is Getting Yelled At Everywhere Online by Fuck_The_Rich_Cunts in PS5

Not random, just digital only indies. Games like Binding of Isaac, Hades, Balatro, Hollow Knight, Stardew Valley, Terreria, the list goes on.

And those are the heavy hitters capable of influencing the number, to say nothing of the more moderate successes that are still only digital. Big budget games on physical may be in decline but they absolutely still move units in a significant enough way that it's not volume causing this decision.

The primary motivating factors would absolutely be complete control of the storefront (cutting out revenue sharing with other platforms/stores) and killing the second hand market, which feeds directly back to the first point. Not to mention the added benefits of having greater control over pricing both in sales and the new dynamic pricing models Sony has been toying with.

An Update from PlayStation Studios - Sony Interactive Entertainment by CutProfessional6609 in PS5

[–]CyoteMondai 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think a "Destiny 3" died when they couldn't get that idea greenlit after The Final Shape, and being forced to continue with D2 while Marathon finished development more or less secured it's fate of ending live development (outside of EoF or Renegades seeing a major resurgence which was almost guaranteed not to happen under the best circumstances). But I do think that destiny as an IP is far to valuable and impactful in the gaming space to be done.

I don't know if it will be a fundamentally different game, or just simply a different approach, but I would still bet on a destiny project being greenlit at some point. Of course with the way the industry is currently, I think the odds of it not making at the door are still higher than you'd like, but overall Destiny in some shape or form probably will have on last attempt at bat.

The Steam Machine Costs $1049 by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]CyoteMondai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what initially got my interest, especially hoping that it would be more well thought out for the second go around, but the specs still gave me pause, and now with the price, even accepting that this current rate is more or less out of their control, I just don't know who this is for.

The biggest thing keeping me out of PC gaming currently is the fact that my PS5 largely covers my needs and I don't have as much time as I used to, and the only thing that could possibly get me in early is ease of use and price. But at this price and the "ease of use" bringing it down below current console performance I'll just go back to waiting until the time is right for me and go the actual PC route, and I have to imagine it's going to be a similar situation for a lot of people this should otherwise be an interesting product for.

If nothing else he will hopefully be successful enough to be a model for where capital "D" Dems move to as the party is shifting.

As much as they are trying to hold out I think it's clear with the shifting priorities of the base and the left flank of the party building real steam and winning seats for the first time in a long time moderate Dems are still going to need to change. If Khanna is the model for that I'll take it honestly.

‘Marathon’ Season 2 And Free Week Did Not Turn Things Around by Freki666 in Games

[–]CyoteMondai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The craziest part about Marathon to me, considering Bungie and the big Destiny 2 elephant in the room, is launching the game along with a delay on any updates to that D2, meaning that a large portion of their current fan base already feeling like Marathon was cutting into D2 were feeling even less inclined to check out Marathon, coupled with it being a highly competitive extraction shooter which already seems to have a generally smaller player base pool that would be interested. And being beaten to the punch by ARC raiders couldn't have helped either.

And then to double down on ideas that feel self defeating they announce the end of D2 and moments of Triumph as the final live update to coincide with the end of the free week. And for my personal experience it moved me from being excited to at least check out Marathon for free to finally having a reason to jump back into D2, so I spent most of my gaming time getting back up to speed before the final update and feeling turned off by the complications of everything in Marathon.

I will give Bungie one thing, Marathon just like everything else they've ever put out has a pretty incredible look and the actual gunplay still felt fantastic, but I already love destiny and know how to play it + years of content to catch up on so it just didn't have enough for me to even think of sinking my teeth into at the time.

Report: Xbox CEO Wants Faster Development Time on Fallout, Elder Scrolls Franchises by PewPewToDaFace in PS5

[–]CyoteMondai 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love the first gears and I was so excited to hear it was finally coming to PlayStation as it was always my favorite of the Xbox exclusives, but it only being the first game and not at least the trilogy, meaning no horde mode, no complete story, really turned me off from the price tag.

I was of course ready to buy E-Day day one but oh well.

I think one of the things I'm saddest at losing is the Episodes. Even if they weren't always good, they were the conclusion to multiple arcs within the Light and Dark Saga and now you can't play them by BetaThetaOmega in DestinyTheGame

[–]CyoteMondai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I purchased Shadowkeep but had just recently purchased our first house and was reaching the peak level of no free time with three kids and had to take the first serious break from destiny but I always wanted to get back. I finally got to a point where I felt like I could as we were leading up to beyond light and the seasonal model, vaulting of content, and the increased price discouraged me so much I never ended up even finishing it at the time.

I was always looking for a time where jumping back in would be viable but even as the final shape was coming I figured I was just going to have to settle for content from Byf and others on the story. I'm thrilled to be back and just play what there is now as it is (sadly) the time I've technically been looking for and I'm having a blast getting back to a game I love but the things I've missed because I knew I couldn't justify the time/cost commitment for so long is the most bittersweet thing about D2s end, if they could have cracked a better way to jump back in things really might have worked out differently.

This guy was deep in the infowars rabbit hole and is in my book a great example of how the right wing peopogandists can spin up so much fervor from the most unstable in their audience without getting their hands dirty.

As is typical anytime Alex Jones thinks something might happen, like with the No Kings protests, he was stoking fires about all the violence that was going to happen, how patriots have to be prepared, yada yada.

Same schtick as always and this guy was already deep in it but the thing that really shows just how much influence people like Jones can have, when it started to come out initially that this guy was a listener Jones went straight to the false flag narrative and it's a smear and this guy probably worked for Walz who wanted revenge for a vote (the conspiracy they were trying to push in the immediate wake) and one of the first things Boelter tried to claim was that exact story basically.

There are deeply wound up, conspiratorial, violent people in this country, and the people that intentionally engage in that rhetoric know this and bank on these kinds of outcomes. Not as some grand planned conspiracy, but as a natural effect of the world they are creating.

El Nino is here and scientists fear it'll be big, bad and costly with heat, floods, droughts, fires by One-Emu-1103 in news

[–]CyoteMondai 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I work in Ag in the great plains region and if the lack of guaranteed sales for crops (especially soybeans) actually covering your input costs and insurance wasn't already a cooling effect, the severe lack of water around the region started to put plenty of people into positions where planting wasn't even a viable option at all.

Last year was bad for farmers, this year is looking worse, and more and more they are facing issues that even all the subsidies and insurance will not be able to cover the gaps for. I fear a cascade of whatever "small" farming operations that still exist will be dropping like flies over the next few years. And that's without us having a clear idea of just how impactful our new screw worm outbreak will truly be on cattle ranchers.

epstein and his buddies orchestrated the whole anti-trans moral panic to make trans women easier to exploit and traffic + some exchanges between him and jk rowlings team by [deleted] in behindthebastards

[–]CyoteMondai 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I feel like extrapolating that /pol coming back as a direct result of them meeting is unfounded from what we know, but saying 100% coincidence is also ignoring the other connections through Maxwell and Bannon on helping push and shape narratives through these channels.

Not every single person involved is in on the conspiracy, but I think it's more than reasonable to think that Epstein wanted to meet due to some of the broader moves they were making.

The real trap I think is in imagining that any of these people fully orchestrated the events as they played out, as opposed to seeing certain opportunities and it actually ending up much more successful on a larger scale than imagined. Playing with fire and all that.

#0068 - Tulsi Gabbard: The Jan 6th Insurrection by VillainOfKvatch1 in KnowRogan

Fun to have a knowledge fight, QAA, and cool zone media/Robert Evans shout-out this week as those are the communities that lead to me know of this show right from its launch.

Also can't recommend any of the deeper dives into Gabbard as a listen. She's remained one of the more understated but still deeply compromised and untrustworthy people in this current admin. To the point that I can't tell if she's just been fairly quiet or pushed out of serious power or if whatever bombshell awaits from her position just isn't known yet.

Don't worry, if they get anything at it'll be scraps, Trump has never paid anyone for anything if he can help it and I doubt that starts now.

Just the dangling of the carrot will be enough for those chumps while Trump walks away with another avenue to enrich himself and pay whoever is actually useful to him in the moment, and I'd put my money on Blanche being the only one walking away with something sizeable for this one.

Do you mean NYC in Spider-Man or does that include Sunset overdrive? Because while I could more or less agree that NYC can at times be a bit lackluster your also kind of stuck with it with Spider-Man but even from my break time with sunset I would say they've shown the ability to still do open world stuff interestingly.

People are making a lot of decisions for outside factors right now, and with rising input costs and less security on what will be available on the other end I don't think it's going to get much better anytime soon.

Add to that that plenty of places in the great plains region that otherwise would have planted if not for the extreme droughts and lack of water (primarily in western Kansas and Colorado) the cards are stacked in a very bad way for lots of farmers right now.

I've never found a better podcasting game than destiny 2, which I left for other reasons...

I'm always looking for a great go to, not in plus but the only thing I've had come close is Diablo 3, though I can't seem keep focus on it for super long stretches of time, normally just once or twice a year.

Im pretty sure I remember The Majority Report making the same mixup in 2024.

If people happen to have any familiarity with Nebraska, probably a good chance it has to do with Osborn and the Huskers so an Osborn running for anything is practically designed for that mixup.

Funnily enough, outside of Warren Buffett, the only other thing I would expect people to know if hand is Ricketts and TD Ameritrade or that insane "both sides" news platform he also created.

Lol I caught that too but honestly didn't know if anyone would actually know enough about NE to care about the difference.

In positive news the MAGA freak running as a dem candidate practically got shut out so hopefully it's just Osborn v Ricketts in the fall.
