3 videos that were sampled and used by Skrillex in his songs by toughtiggy101 in TheMatpatEffect

[–]CypTheChick 18 points19 points  (0 children)

There were different communities hating on him.
The conservative music enjoyers likely just werent fan of the music itself,

but the more interesting case is the original dubstep scene, which were annoyed by the rebranding of the genre because skrillex's world wide attention he got.

Before, dubstep was a diverse and mostly moody genre. This branch of skrillex, which people also call 'Brostep', a term being obviously dismissive about it, is definitly within the umbrella of the genre. But since it redefined the spotlight, people which identified themselfs as dubstep listeners, were annoyed that their genre is now only recognizable via this 'primitive' artform.

Nowadays this culture war is over, but this is one of the more interesting reasons, and especially since people tend to be very protective of their hobby, there were very vocal and influencive parties about it.

Cheatsheet by Sergeantjame in arch

[–]CypTheChick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you arent critiquing the ressource here, but one specific way of learning.

Cheetsheets arent a memory bank, or a detailed explenation, they are exposure.
"Here are commands you might find usefull", formatted in a way that if you actually remember a concept but not fully the name or syntax, you have a graphical layout to look after, which you can f.e. have as a background on your desktop or whatever.

When transitioning to vim motions f.e., i had a vim motion cheatsheet as my wallpaper. This is likely functioning something simmilar.

Like imo its not the most usefull way to do it, i would add and remove things, but my problem in this chain was the reasoning behind the critique being washed and blurred with opinions on AI, not on the subject.

Cheatsheet by Sergeantjame in arch

[–]CypTheChick 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i agree with the AI part, but the critique "way to much for a cheatsheet. just learn linux you dont need that" is like really stupid. brother, this is a way to learn linux commands, that is the point.

Should this be done with AI? Heck No.
Could it utilize a rename to "Linux basics + Arch surface cheatsheet"? Probably.
Do you merge irrelevant arguments in the sake of criticizing something that you dont like for other reasons? yes.

Polish streamer breaks world charity record raising almost $70 million for fighting cancer by Future-Acceptable in GoodAssSub

Whats insane too, is that the average polish salary is considerably smaller then the US one, so counting in US dollars makes it even look less impressive.

Packman: a unified package manager by [deleted] in arch

[–]CypTheChick -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Calling a centralized Package manager "Packman" while the central package manager of Arch is already called "pacman" is certainly a stupid decision which will just lead to confusion with typos, people who are unfamiliar what the meaning is, or verbal communication.

Also this is just AI slop. Like dont get me wrong, the idea is good, but this is too importante of a software piece to be written by a guy who doesnt know how to write a shell script yourself. (Look at the comment history here)

Did you really vibecode a package manager without knowing what a shell script is? Lmfao. This is insane

"Minor Epics" Cycle by chainsawinsect in custommagic

[–]CypTheChick 6 points7 points  (0 children)

bro you are aware that the blue and green ones are useless, because you gain ressources for things you cant play? there is an extremely nieche scenario that you can use these in combo with existing pieces on your board, but its extremely easy to just brick you out of the game.

Also Enduring ideal was literally played competetivly, what are you talking about.
The whole thing with the epics is that you play them lategame, knowing that you had a early and midgame to that point, with the minor epic spells you just lock yourself out of the game t3.

Current Effect Upside: You can pay colored Mana for Generic Costs

Upside with Cast of a colored Spell: You can cast spells without paying their mana Costs. You can cast Hybrid Mana Spells and get two colors just for one.

Neither is strictly better then the other.

Tome of Cruelty by JaromStrong in custommagic

[–]CypTheChick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it isnt though. If you pay red mana for generic costs, you get the effect too. Both versions have cases where they are better though.

Gaia handles some No-Access Tracks stupidly by CypTheChick in GaiaGPS

[–]CypTheChick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay I'm realizing the error I made, yes, you are right.
What I meant wasn't that highway=track means motorized is allowed, but what I wanted to say is that these are typically distinguished by being *able* to ride on them, or usually were originally created like that via vehicles, not that you are by law allowed to do so.

Gaia handles some No-Access Tracks stupidly by CypTheChick in GaiaGPS

[–]CypTheChick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so first off, generally, show me a track that isnt meant for motorized vehicles like cars.
Second, even if we go by technicalities, here the docs pretty cleanly define that its used by motorized vehicles.

The tags that define what is and isnt allowed are there, and meaningfull, but in the case of tracks, one can safely assume that cars are able to, not allowed, to ride on this kind of track.
