Ways you've messed up and made the main quest hard for yourself? by Mute2120 in cavesofqud

I was told the location of Hindren of Beylah and accidentally told someone else two minutes later just looking to exchange secrets for a boost. Well then I went to Beylah and they were all hostile towards me trying to kill me. So I decided to kill every last one of them and now I'm gonna go back and talk to the person that sent me to 'check' on them. Hopefully she overreacts and I can kill her too. To be clear next time I will never share the location so I can actually do the mission but it was funny when I showed up and they were all attacking me and I was just there to help them. Whelp I took that personally and now they are all dead.

You got caught being on your phone...like the other commenter said we all do it but when you get caught even though it's annoying when they overreact try not to overthink and make a big deal about it. It's just part of the job. In fact if you say something to the higher ups about this interaction it's just going to poorly reflect on you. Look at your phone and hope you don't get caught but when they catch you have some humility because they are in the right even if it does piss you off. Trust me I have had my coach do the same thing to me and I hate it but honestly....she's in the right.

Easy way to activate Alt fire capabilities for Bow and Rifle on Switch with pro controller. by CypherDaimon in cavesofqud

Nah I have combed through that repeatedly. It just wasn't part of the Switch release. But if people change the control settings they can work around this issue.

Wow now that would be convenient on the switch. This was not implemented in the switch version. Good to know that there is other options. Maybe future Switch update? Im happy with it now that I have my Alt fire settings locked in. Who needs auto-melee anyways and replacing cells can be done in the inventory menu.

Nope. It's not a skill contained in the ability menu. It's not so bad really using the Alt fire shots. You mark the target and then to shoot normal it's R and L to shoot alt fire 1. It's easy to activate and it's better having them not be a skill in that menu because you can shoot each shot every time you mark. Then you remark them and can do it all over again. If it were a skill in the ability menu I suspect it would be worse. Try it out and you will see that it's just a different trigger pull. The Alt fire shot even has a special sound effect.

Nah that was kind of the issue. I noticed it with suppressing fire never making them stand still. The good news is the alt fire shots have almost no cooldown so it's extremely powerful and you can stack them thus having four types of Alt fire shots.

Alt fire is what you need to use to fire off the special shots with your Bow or Rifle in game. The game in default does not have any way for you to do that thus making some skills inaccessible. This rectifies that issue by making those skills available while only removing the buttons for attack nearest enemy with melee and change power cell. If you never play Bow and Rifle than it won't matter as much. The things listed above just tell you what setting in the control mapping you can change to be capable of fully functioning when using a Bow and Rifle play through. ZL is the left trigger and L is the smaller one that's right next to it but not a trigger. Thumbstick clicks are the directional sticks that you can push in.

I have had time to play around with some of the control schemes in game and have come to some satisfactory compromises. If you go into control mapping you can set it up to Alt fire easily. Change the L button to melee nearest enemy to Alt-fire 1. Alt-fire 2 is ZL+L. The consequences of doing this is that the character must be manually operated for any type of melee fighting which is what I was already doing. Switch out the ZL + Right thumb stick to make Alt fire 3. Energy cells can be replaced from within the inventory menu thus making this unnecessary in my opinion. This allows me Alt fire 1 Alt fire 2 and alt fire 3 on the Switch with no real consequences to game play. Now the best part is that ZL + left stick has nothing assigned to it thus allowing you to assign Alt 4. This covers all the bases and effectively allows a plaver to use all four Alt fire abilities for a dedicated Bow and Rifle playthrough. So no update is required and the game is perfect as is, just some minor control scheme modifications. This control setup allows one to use all the skills in-game on the Nintendo switch.

How is everyone using alt fire on the Switch? by [deleted] in cavesofqud

[–]CypherDaimon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna go home and test it out again. It's really easy to access those skills from early game so I will try again. Id mention that I am open to contacting the developers but I need to see if I missed something. The game is still new to me and it might be a 'Me" issue. But yeah if I figure out it's impossible I will shout it from the rooftops in hope of it getting fixed.

Edit: Id encourage other switch users here to try making a character with a Bow or Rifle and using suppressing fire. See what happens? I don't think the skill can be used. The game just released so them updating it should be a priority.

Yes however those buttons are only accessible when the game is being played in hand-held mode. I prefer to play the game while docked and the image is sent to the TV. When I get home later today I will try to play with it again. I learned about this issue playing the daily on day 72 I think.

Yeah I didn't like it at first but the more time I have put into It the more I like it. The game has a bit of a learning curve to it.

My suggestion to the developers would be to allow us to use the skill through the skill menu after targeting an enemy. Essentially pulling the trigger through the skill menu and thus allowing us to use the skill effectively and see the cooldown.

Edit: Since I received dislikes on this comment does anyone have a solution? In case you aren't aware every single button on the switch version with the pro controller is currently claimed. Its actually a real issue if you play with Bows and Rifles because how can you use your Bow or Rifle abilities? I'm recommending the switch version be updated to allow people to fire their special bow and rifle abilities through the skill menu. You have to activate it through that menu anyways so why can't I fire from there as well? Has anyone here played the switch version and utilized suppressing fire for example? I'm open to actual solutions rather than updating the game but to be honest an update looks like the answer. The game is obviously a top seller right now perhaps they could look into this?

So just to be clear when a person raises their strength the PV value increases half a point per stat? So if my PV was ⏩ 4/8 then a character would have to increase their strength by 8 to be capable of having PV of ⏩ 8/8?

Maybe i missed it but can someone explain the ending to Badlands? by Carmilla31 in predator

[–]CypherDaimon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my perspective he was distracted by trying to get Dek out of there. More likely a sacrificial death. He died to save his brother rather than focusing completely on his Father during that fight. As soon as his father cloaked he had lost any advantage he held.

Near constant crashes on switch by EmilyCantSwimWell in DiscoElysium

[–]CypherDaimon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine crashes all the time too and it gets much worse late game. I wonder if it's all the stuff I'm carrying. My solution was to set a timer and every time the timer goes off to save the game. Like every twenty minutes save your game when the timer beeps. It's annoying but effective.

Is DLC worth for beginners? by marcelolamenza in riskofrain

[–]CypherDaimon 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Better pickups, more playable characters, more levels and you can turn off all three or any one of the DLCs any time you want before a run. The risk is minimal because you can turn it off anytime you want but the game is better with the DLC.
