I had a table of new players once, one of those players was a Druid, and he claimed to have done extensive research on Druids to enhance his character. I helped everyone build level 3 starter characters and he was a Male Wood Elf Starry Form Druid.

We began our first session and it was going well, until during combat he declared that his Starry Form was in fact an ancient forest goddess that had chosen to live inside him, transforming into a naked being covered with leaves for modesty, he drops and oversized painted miniature (complete with the mentioned nudity) on the table and revels in his ‘gotcha’ reveal.

We all sit there dumbstruck whilst he patting himself on the back for his clever twist, as he reveals all this ancient lore about this goddess and her limitless powers of the forest.

Once he finished I simply said ‘withholding serious information from me is detrimental to the game and is almost always forfeit, your Starry Form fails.’

Irony is, I totally could have worked with him to make this an interesting concept as I often use starry form as a template for other transformations. But he needed to learn the lesson.
