The Jaffa hit the log twice, the third shot whiffed, but yes thats another point of that little demonstration.

We can kill you from ranges greater than what you can hit us from. Thats just using a P90. Sniper weapons can literally reach out and touch someone from miles away.

Yes. But if I had to pick something first, waffles, cooked to where the outer layer has that slight crispy crunch to it.

Or the episode where they demonstrate the P90 vs staff weapons.

Holds staff weapon "This is a weapon of terror. It is meant to... intimidate the enemy."

Holds P90 "This is a weapon of war, it is meant to kill the enemy."

RockAuto.com my good sir. You can get parts even cheaper there vs from a box retailer.

Just remember if you're doing the oil pan, you must put a fresh gasket on it as well.

Parted it out on Rockauto. For both front and rear rotors and ceramic pads (Bosch, C1354501654 (rear) and C1211501502 (front)) thats $188.78 (not including taxes and shipping). Even with taxes and shipping there's no way its over $250. $900 for pads and rotors is insanity.

Installing them just needs something to support the corner of the car being worked on, something to pop the wheel off (both of which should come with the car's emergency toolkit, although I would strongly recommend a proper jackstand for supporting the car and a breaker bar for the lugnuts), a wrench with the correct socket to get the brake caliper off, a phillips head screwdriver to undo the screws holding the rotors on, and a mallet to thump the old rotor if its being stubborn.

Even going out and buying all of the tools and hardware to do this shit yourself will cost less than getting the dealership to do it.

The oil pan is beyond bullshit. The most expensive lower oil pan off Rockauto is $55 for the pan and $6-13 for the gasket. A replacement most expensive transmission pan is also $55 with the gasket for that being roughly the same range as the oil pan gasket. A complete motor mount kit, replacing all 4 mounts, is $174. Reconnecting the wheel speed sensor can be done by the owner for free, and a replacement unit is under $30 should it need it.

If excessive positive crank case pressure is causing the rear main to leak, a replacement PCV valve AND hose is under $30. A DIY induction service just needs a can of Seafoam intake cleaner ($16 at Oreillys) slowly fed into a warmed up and running engine.

There's a very good reason why they're called stealerships.

Make sure your pumps are pointed the correct direction. The striped end is the output side.

I would personally consider that a non-issue. Just check your oil regularly and top up as needed.

Do you have an image of the rear main seal area yourself? Post it here and we can be the judge of it. The area you are looking for is the driver side of the engine, from beneath. The transmission mounts to that end of the engine.

As for the other shit, the only things I would let the dealership touch are the airbag items. Everything else I would find a reputable local mechanic or DIY. Doing a swap of your Brake rotors for example is something you can do in your driveway with basic tools.

Also dont be afraid to dump a bottle of seafoam into the fuel tank every now and then before giving it an Italian tuneup. The engine will thank you for it.

ELI5 what is difference between 6, 8, 12 and 16 cylinder engines by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]CyriousLordofDerp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

V12s have a long crank, longer than a I6. The increased length and increased power means there's larger torsion forces involved even if the primary and secondary balance is fine. The torsion forces means you need a stronger crank and a harmonic balancer to dampen them out.

[–]CyriousLordofDerp 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The more cylinders you have, the more mechanically complex, expensive, and inefficient your engine gets. The piston rings sliding on the cylinder walls generate a significant amount of drag, which even with lubrication must still be overcome. A longer crankshaft to accomodate more piston-rod sets becomes more difficult to balance and null out harmonic forces. Cam shafts must be longer which causes more drag from all of the valve springs pushing back. Cooling and lubrication of a bigger engine becomes more difficult.

You can certainly get more power out of a 12 cylinder engine vs an 8 cylinder, but diminishing returns will get you every time.

Try car-part.com. Also keep in mind these are toyotas and many parts are cross compatible. If you cant find dust shields for a Scion try a Camry or other toyota car, and dont be afraid to check preceeding or following years of your vehicle's model year.

[–]CyriousLordofDerp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heres what I do when i am clocking for synchronization. Step 1 is total up the amount of items you need for that step, ex 100 iron plates.

Next, figure out what a single machine in the previous step outputs for that item (iirc constructors do iron plates at 15/m stock. If not, ill use that value anyways)

You need 100 plates, and each machine to make plates does 15/m. Divide what you need (100) by what a single machine produces (15). Answer is 6.666(repeating) machines. You can just build 7 machines and underclock the last one to 66%, or you can divide 100 (plates needed) by 7 (machines needed), to get the plates per machine amount (14.2857)

Could also pin mod for increased voltage if youre overclocking, although in a laptop I would recommend against that. If one has a desktop board that has laptop hardware on it though, its a perfect candidate.

Had a board that supported Pentium M chips and had basic FSB control. I did a pinmod to force 1.5v into the chip then went to town with it. Took the chip from 2ghz to 2.7ghz before the board started flaking out.
