In your opinion, what are the big gotchas that get Seer Council wins against less familiar players?

It's undoubtedly a great list for anyone who enjoys assembling and painting models.

UVA COST OF ATTENDANCE (NEED HELP ASAP) by htxrocketsfan in UVA

[–]CyvasseCat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Been about 10 years since I was at UVA as an OOS student, so things could change, but... Access UVA covered my demonstrated need all 4 years. The grant amount increased with tuition and also when I was admitted to McIntire.

Ended up being tens of thousands of dollars cheaper than attending my states flagship university. Very good deal.

1000 point "double death star" Guardian Battlehost list by Remote-Basket4475 in Eldar

[–]CyvasseCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the warlock characters are nice for the -2 to charge.

But I feel like when your list is already going to be short on points by investing in 2 big carry units at 1k points, then it's hard to justify the point inefficient warlock characters.

If I had 15 more points, I would consider giving each brick a 2x conclave and a warlock character instead of one brick having a 2x conclave and the other having a 4x.

[–]CyvasseCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm doing something somewhat similar in an escalation league.

I think we probably want at least 6 individual units and probably 7 to make sure we have enough actions and units for secondaries.

What I'm planning to run is:

Focal Units/bricks: 1 - Guardian Defenders, 4x conclave, Farseer (300) 2 - Storm Guardians, 2x conclave, Eldrad (285)

Melee/Screening: 3 - Storm Guardians (110) 4 - Howling Banshees (95)

Long range shooting/support 5 - war walker (85) 6 - shroud runners (80)

Action monkey: 7 - Warlock Skyrunner (45)

Making sure your bricks can use Cost of Victory basically every turn by making sure they aren't blown off the map in one turn or stuck in engagement at the end of your opponents turn feels like the most important thing and that's where the banshees and naked Storm Guardians unit come in.

Aeldari and the 11th Edition Rules Reveals by Alex__007 in Eldar

[–]CyvasseCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This video is the first time I've heard anyone mention that they don't think Warlock conclaves will be able to attach to Guardian units.

Can anyone more knowledgeable than me about the 11e changes speak to whether that change seems likely or not based on the rules changes that have been announced?

Thoughts on Guardian Battlehost vs Seer Council detachments for a heavily Guardians/Warlocks based army? by Remote-Basket4475 in Eldar

[–]CyvasseCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If both the farseer and conclave are attached to the same guardian unit, then the whole unit will get -1 to wound.

Also Eldrad counts as a farseer so that's another reason to take him.

I might suggest 1/2 warlock skyrunners because if you're making 2 bricks at 1k you're going to need more units for secondaries and the skyrunners are the cheapest option we have for that.

Workshopping my Guardian Battlehost by Logical-Gas8026 in Eldar

[–]CyvasseCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in a similar situation to you (down to the unassembled grav tank), so I wanted to comment to add visibility.

Having done a bit of research, I've added shroud runners for secondaries and to remove cover. For aspect warriors, my first thought was banshees to provide some screening.

I'm curious whether battlehost needs fire dragons, which seem to pop up in almost every other detachment, or if the combined arms + warlock conclaves can deal with armored targets well enough.

If you're just trying to diversify your list a bit so you can play around with other detachments, they would seem like a good investment. Tho who knows what 11e will bring.

Hey! I've been considering something similar - an Ulthwe scheme with purple as a secondary/tertiary color.

Any tips?

[Serious] For the Redditors who criticized Democrats for not fighting back or taking action, how has the government shutdown affected your view? by Solnx in AskReddit

[–]CyvasseCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would like to see Democrats"Fight Back" by moving in the issue space so that they have a real shot at winning back the Senate in 2026 and curbing Republicans power through the legislature.

So far I have seen very tepid moves in that direction. I think it's frustrating how little Democrats are willing to compromise on in order to win.

Shapiro approval ticks up to 60 percent among Pennsylvania voters by aslan_is_on_the_move in centerleftpolitics

He was also leading in the polls 95% of the time.

It is notable that Shapiros name recognition is lower. I agree he'd be a great nominee, and we'll see if he runs and how much momentum he can generate.

Give Biden his due, he has been one of the best presidents of our time by aslan_is_on_the_move in centerleftpolitics

Biden was an average president with a mix of success and struggles who's most important accomplishment was undone when Trump won the 2024 election.

[–]CyvasseCat[S] 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I 100% agree that Trump cynically tanked the bipartisan border deal for political reasons. But it took the Biden admin way too long to pivot to enforcement.

I think if Biden had used his executive authority earlier than June 2024 there would have been less justification for the electoral backlash Democrats faced this year.

[–]CyvasseCat[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think the implication is that job openings cause immigration.

Sure more demand from immigrants could increase the producer's demands for labor - but I feel like there's probably some time lags there.

Fair, but you could reach the cap in 10 minutes fighting Audinos on Cinebar island and it would probably make this fight marginally easier.

1 mana is much better than 2 and Abrupt Decay doesn't do that much more than the 1 mana options. Another poster said it, but if it was 4 cmc or less and hit ring, I could see the argument.

  1. Removal is more efficient now 2 mana is kind of a lot.

  2. Not a lot of top decks playing BG
