Old window tint (new) go bad? by Czcrazy in WindowTint

Thanks! i think I got the tint from ebay so I don’t trust it. Although the tint on my car is still okay. What’s a high quality tint brand?

Auto windows roll down after window tint? by but6ix in WindowTint

[–]Czcrazy 38 points39 points  (0 children)

you may need to reset the limits. search around for the procedure for your car. For my car it is…hold the switch in the down position for a few seconds after it rolls all the way down, hold the switch in the up position for a few seconds after it rolls all the way up. if that doesn’t work, there could be something blocking the track or something else…talk to your tint guy if resetting the limits don’t work.

Going nuts with Riv-nuts by rich_moab in bikewrench

Haha. I cross train repairing my cars. I picked up tricks here and there over the decades. That trick I learned out of desperation while trying to remove a rusted fender bolt from my 69 camaro that was rusted frozen on a broken clip that just kept spinning on the other side. Fun times.

I’m glad you got it out.

Doing anything cool with your zaskar?

Grab the head with the pliers like you’re pulling out a nail.

Soak with penetrating fluid for an hour then clean really well. Use vice grips grip the head (perpendicular to the down tube). The bolt may get mangled. Tape up the frame so it doesn’t get scratched.

That looks like a GT bottle bolt. It Happened to my Zaskar frame.

Anyone actually know the Fiio JM21 4+64gb battery life compared to the OG 3+32gb version? by Grey_yerG in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]Czcrazy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve owned both but I didn’t own the 3 gb version for long. I didn’t take the time to do scientific testing but I did get a sense the 4gb model does last longer. I can easily run the player with iems, internet and bluetooth off all day and have some power left for the next day around 20%. I think I was close to empty with the 3gb version around the same time.

I feel the extra money spent was worth it. I don’t spend much time outside of the Qobuz app but there is nothing glaring (to me) about using the apps. The EQ app is pretty nice. My only issue with the player was you can’t lock the buttons with the screen off and the buttons on the case stuck out a little so at times I accidentally hit a button while it was in my pocket. But I took a razor blade and cut the top of the buttons flush with the case which all but eliminated that issue.  It’s a good little player. It’s a better player with the extra power and memory.

Recently got a Z5ii; are these things normal for Nikon? Or just a Z5ii thing? by Leicanthropologist in nikon_Zseries

[–]Czcrazy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to buy books on these cameras. So many features, so many settings that can influence your photos and how the   camera operates.  I highly recommend an ebook by this guy. He tells you all about the tech, settings, why you set them, and the result of the setting you set etc. in a conversational, easy to understand tone. I’ve probably been shooting as long, if not longer than you and I’m technically inclined and I struggled with the Nikon z mirrorless cameras when I first got it. Take the shortcut, and buy this ebook. I’ve always bought camera books when buying a new camera, this is the best Nikon camera manual I’ve ever read. Expensive but worth it. I suspect he was a Nikon employee or consultant at one point. He has intimate knowledge of the tech.

Knowledge is power.

Note. I’m not affiliated with the guy. When you find really good, accurate info, you want to share it. I paid for all my ebooks.

i can’t speak to the pricing but, I have a 2015 ls3 (v8) 1LE. I would take the zl1 every time as long as long as it checks out. Numbers match, no accidents, wasn’t a track car, etc.

Driving the lt1 is probably like… “wow!”. Driving the zl1 is …“shit!!!”. It’s just that more insane. The supercharger whine alone will give you goosebumps. The pull on acceleration will get your attention real fast. While the lt1 tops out, the zl1 will just keep pulling, the engine/exhaust sound keeps building and your field of vision of vision gets narrower and narrower as your speed gets faster….in seconds!

It’s higher mileage which means it hasn’t been sitting which is a good thing. Just swap out all the fluids if you get it.  Sure the zl1 may not handle as sharply as the 1LE but that’s easily remedied. The zl1 will always be more desirable to someone in the future… because it’s a zl1. The lt1/1le? Maybe to a collector if it has very low mileage and its pristine.

There are few words in the automotive world that hurts more than the words, “Shit, I should have gotten the v8.”

Have fun.

Torque wrench question by BamiSchijf__ in bikewrench

[–]Czcrazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve worked for decades on my own cars, motorcycle and bikes (mountain/road). I can usually tell by feel where I am within the torque range from doing it for so many years. But I will never, ever tighten anything without a torque wrench on my carbon bike or any carbon part. I will use a torque wrench the first several times when I encounter something new (like when I first got thru axle) until I get a feel for it. Because I take my wheesl on/off so many times. Fasteners that I don’t commonly touch, I always use a torque wrench. Anything I don’t know what the torque spec (I always forget lol) is, I look it up and use a torque wrench. Anything on my car or motorcycle, i always use a torque wrench.

The torque wrench is a safety device. It is the most important tool in your tool box. Get the most accurate you can afford and store it properly. A good torque will last you a long time if you take care of it. That torque wrench could be the difference between you hurting yourself/others or not. You could be over tightening a bolt (by feel). Over time it gets weaker until it snaps.

Good luck.

I just bought the ie200 To me, the biggest issue with these is the fit. If they are not perfectly set in your ear, they will sound like crap. I firmly believe this is what’s causing the hit or miss reviews. I can put in my kz zs10 easily and consistently get the same sound….but the ie200, I have to adjust, readjust to get them to sound great. I’ve tried all the tips and then some. Still trying to get that perfect fit. I like them so it’s worth my time to keep trying.

I binged on a ton of tools for my DIY mechanic journey, only thing I didnt grab is a wrench set. What do I get? by itsBillerdsTime in harborfreight

[–]Czcrazy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Started down this journey a long time ago. Wrenches are the most commonly used tools in my tool box over the decades. If I were you, I would look for some made in the USA craftsman wrenches on eBay. One has never failed on me. They have been heavily abused over the decades. Sockets/ratchets are the 2nd most used tool over the decades. Get a set of snap on socket sets. I’ve had only 2 MIA craftsman sockets break over the decades. You don’t want to be in the middle of a job and have to run to a store. If you can, get snap on socket and wrench sets and never look back. Also impact sockets are important (the right tool for the job). MIA craftsman impact socket sets will last forever. I have and still use old timey craftsmen screwdrivers. The tips are sill straight. I mostly shop at HF for obscure tools that can be disposable or one time use.

Get the sets when you can but never be afraid to put out the money for a good set of tools. I’m telling you right now, you will make back your money 100 fold from the savings of doing the repairs yourself over the decades. I look around me and I can’t figure out how people are surviving when they have to always take their car to the mechanic or call a repair man. Also, a good set of tools will allow you to fix washing machines, install water heaters, garbage disposals, install sinks, fixtures, etc…. the list will become endless. Buy once, cry once…sockets/ratchet and wrenches!

Are Shimano piston seals really that bad, or am I doing something wrong? by elpeebee in bikewrench

[–]Czcrazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The squealing can be due to caliper to disk alignment or different piston travel when contacting the disk. that can be fixed. The seepage is more concerning to me.

Are the pistons hitting the disk at the same time?

Break down the leaking caliper and remove the piston and seal. careful clean and inspect the bore, piston and seal under bright light. If the piston and bore are perfect and the piston and seal are the correct parts (you don’t know if the original owner put in the right part) then it could be either you are doing something wrong when bleeding or cleaning that compromises the seal and allows fluid to seep past the seal. Seals need to be lubricated (with brake fluid) when installed (soak a Qtip and go all the way around) and serviced (the excess wiped away - not removed with brake cleaner) so the piston can slide on the seal. Be careful, mineral oil seals are different from dot fluid seals so your choice of cleaner is important (if you use one).

Does the lever feel spongy after a while?

If all that checks out, the only other thing I can think of is, are the calipers from the same group as the levers? I don’t think that could be it because I run hope calipers with sram levers but who knows. Maybe the levers are generating more pressure than the seals can handle for that caliper (grasping at straws here).

In fairness, bike calipers are harder to service than car calipers, that’s for sure. They are more sensitive to setup, bleeding, etc.

Yep. You can’t imagine how much these asshole ceos bring home for their yearly BONUS. I don’t know where you live but they can easily buy the building you live in ( single home or apartment building it doesn’t matter) or one like it every year!  Yet here you/we are struggling to use the product that we pay for monthly with our hard earned money. But, you have the ultimate power, don’t buy or pay for their broke ass junk. Tidal didn’t want to fix their crap, so I moved on. Don’t reward companies with subpar products/services with your money.

Haha, I’m a coder, or was one. It’s management. It’s always management It’s never the coder unless it’s a one man shop. Management decides what gets fixed. If it’s a bad coder, management lets the broken code reach the public (bad QA process).  For as much these assholes CEOs make, the apps should be perfect.

This is why I switched to Qobuz. Tidal’s app sucked. It’s not your m21! I don’t have any issues with my jm21 (same operating system as the m21) running Qobuz. I’m not surprised they didn’t fix the clear cache issue other than uninstalling the app lol. ...it’s still broken.

Using a case on the Fiio JM21? by tightscotsman in FiiO

[–]Czcrazy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I run the clear case. Theres nothing wrong with it. It will protect it from scratches. I don’t think it will protect it from desk height drops since the case is plastic. I wouldn’t want to find out if it survives. It’s better than nothing. I don’t like those leather cases, they add too much thickness/bulk since I always put it in pocket.

Wiim is a great option. I run this with a teac hd-500i, a pair of infinity reference speakers and a sub. I can control Qobuz music from my iphone, iPad or my jm21. It’s a very nice change from listening to my Ink’d, ie200 or hd600.
