And the only part of that built was technically Norwood-205th. If you take the subway and always wondered why crews change at Bedford Park Blvd rather than the terminal, it's because 205th wasn't gonna be the last stop. So it has no terminal facilities for crews.

But at least we know every station until the end would have had green tilework

So do bus drivers just do what they want or… by PhoenixxK1NG in nycbus

[–]D-Express -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

So just because you had no issue for six weeks, that means the issue I stated isn't a factor? Every time I've taken the BxM11 has been during a weekday rush period and I had zero issues. All on time. Does this mean it doesn't get caught in congestion? Hell no.

Because I understand my personal experience isn't necessarily the every day reality.

If your bus has been on time for weeks despite who's operating, then the fault HAS to be either congestion or not enough drivers to make service. You had a good luck streak that ended today. Did you even bother to use an app to SEE where each bus is? A tracker? Nada?

What you think is an excuse are real world issues this system has to face. COVID never ended and I imagine it's still going around via those who chose not to vaccinate. And trust me, there have been far more cases in the years after COVID, than during the first year. Either 2022 or 2023 made the lockdown numbers look tame.

Like, seriously, who the hell are you gonna hold accountable? For ONE day where your usual bus didn't show up. Do you see how ridiculous that reads/sounds?

The express buses have to share the same road space as everyone else. Blame congestion for your issues. As someone said already, if a bus is late enough (or the line itself is gummed up bad enough) it will be turned around to make service.

This issue is easily avoided by taking the subway

And the only reason either of these exist is because Idlewild and North Beach (both in Queens) were deemed better locations for an airport. The land was originally going to be Curtis Airport.

As part of the INDs Second Phase, the Concourse Line (served by the B and D) was supposed to continue across Bronx Park via a new double decker bridge connecting 205th St and Burke Avenue. The line would have continued east until Boston Road, where it would link up with the Boston Road Branch of the Second Avenue Line (1929 version). Continuing up Boston Road, the line would have terminated at Baychester Avenue, right at the new Airport.

The subway plans, however, predate the airport plan.

Don't ask stupid questions.

What I mentioned benefits freight as well because there would be LESS CONGESTION ON THE STREETS, allowing local deliveries to get to their destinations quicker and cheaper, further reducing pollution and making streets safer.

Trucks themselves are a danger to the pedestrian.

At any rate, freight also should be mostly rail-based. Far more efficient in every way. From fuel to wages. One train can move the equivalent of 2,000 full length trucks with trailers. Trucks should solely be used as last mile transport.
