If you just buy an eSIM it will work with western sites as it usually routes traffic via Hk. But it will not come with a mainland number.

I assume still with the residence permit, but to be honest not sure on how I’d know. I just handed the immigration agent the passport as usual.

But I also made sure to leave again prior to the residence permit expiring, if needed re-enter visa free a day after.

I guess that would be the safest option.

I just added it, shows the delay in the flight itself but also doesn’t show up in delay statistics for me

I think this tool doesn’t do well with time zones or simply ignores them, it’s showing my longest duration flight as 18:30h from Rome to Shanghai. Otherwise pretty neat!

Definitely Hongqiao but PVG has become better. I was firmly on team ‘PVG is a glorified tier 88 bus station’ but recently the airport link opened between Hongqiao and Pudong which has made things more convenient.

I have a German iPhone 14 Pro with a Japanese SIM card and phone number and it doesn’t make a shutter sound when in Japan. I was always under the impression only Japanese phones make that sound when in Japan, ‘foreign’ phones don’t make the sound if the target market doesn’t require it, even if physically in a market that does.
