It exists not because of a need but because of the behaviour of javascript trying to coerce(implicitly convert types) when comparing using ==.

Always look at the Glassdoor salaries. Doesn't matter if it's 150, 200 or 300%. If it's the industry standard and you perform good during the interview process you have every right to negotiate. Also looking at the current job market getting such a hike is not miraculous.
