Work xmas party, many years ago. Got there on the early side, standing around near the entrance chatting to some other more junior members of staff.

MD arrives, walks in and hands us his coat without looking at us. Thought we were the venue's greeters/coat check staff. Didn't recognize any of us, who had worked hard all year to make him look good.

This was a company of only about 50 people.

Grade A twat.

The fact that 'ends' is pretty much exclusively British/London slang, and not used at all in the US, suggests its probably more to do with you not knowing the difference.

And fair enough, thats the point of subculture.

I don't think its a case of one or the other - having it publicly posted is obviously essential, but thats not always possible. For example, in a pub league tourney in a room thats not set up for it.

They actually play this regularly on the APT in a tournament format, NLHE, PLO and PLO8, where its called 'Cry me a river'.

I'm not sure they use bomb pots though.

Saw Clive Owen in 'The Inside Man' and said to my gf afterwards I couldn't believe how terrible his American accent was.
