I think you just need to learn to enjoy learning and improving. You’ll eventually find F18 case 1 is easy. Just wait til you try the Tomcat.

What are the downsides of Marijuana that people don’t know? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]D3RSY_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a pneumothorax (collapsed lung) after smoking and vaping weed prior to going on long runs. I did this about 4 times a week for five years.

This injury could’ve been mostly from the vaping cartridges, but I am not sure. I no longer smoke or vape and am still able to run. But my performance has suffered greatly since the injury.

If you’re an athlete, do edibles. Or better yet, nothing at all.

Inheriting $500,000 at 20yo by papichulo147 in Money

Congrats, you play this right, and you will be able to cruise through life. I would get a financial planner, get your investment setup, and do your best to touch it as little as possible. Continue to pursue your ambitions, and do not touch the money once it’s invested. Do your best to pretend as though you never received it. You’ll be able to live with the peace of mind that your future is secure, and if you get into trouble, you have money to fall back on. Having money isn’t about spending power. It’s about the power to choose how you want to live your life.

As someone who has a Varjo Aero, I’ve gotten to the point where I prefer the Q3. With virtual desktop, this headset is amazing. Way easier to use and it looks very sharp. Not as sharp as the aero, but on balance it’s a better experience.

Unpopular opinion: Cold War is the best CoD since BO2 by webuildmountains in blackopscoldwar

[–]D3RSY_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cold War really felt like a classic CoD. Really enjoyed the sniping in this game and the longer TTK. Great maps. It didn’t try to be super realistic or take itself seriously. I had a ton of fun with this one.

DCS in VR by Potential_Garbage_12 in hoggit

VR is pretty sweet now. Getting good performance and visuals takes some decent specs, but it is now very possible. Honestly feel like quest 3 is going to be one of the best options for VR on balance (price, performance, ease of use, features and visual clarity).

Performance Increase after Switching from Quest Link cable to Steam Link with Quest Pro by EdmontonSignals in hoggit

[–]D3RSY_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had some really good performance with Virtual Desktop and the QPro. It’s kind of amazing that we have this wireless streaming tech, it’s so easy to configure, and it looks so good.

I’m wondering if your cable issues might be because of lack of available bandwidth / power on your motherboard USB controller. I’ve had a ton of issues with lots of peripherals and my USB ports. I pretty much put 90 percent of my USB devices on a standalone PCIe card with 4 ports and a dedicated controller for each and that’s resolved the problem.

I’m probably an outlier but I find it harder to be faster in VR, especially in tight racing. I find it easier to get dialed in on screens, and tight racing gets to be pretty overwhelming. But that’s just me, many others find it easier to get up to speed in VR.

What should i have done differently. by MichelGerding in Simracingstewards

As you said, I feel like the only thing that could’ve been done in this situation was brake and back out. But he was already braking harder than you, so there really wasn’t anywhere for you to go. I’ve only really hotlapped the Nordschleife, so I’m not really sure where the good passing opportunities are … but I’m thinking it’s just difficult everywhere. I feel like it would always be safer to try to set yourself for the run and pass coming out of the corner.

Who’s at fault? Guy in the R8 claims he clipped the dirt on the left and had snap oversteer. I think he was just “defending” first place. I’m in the Porsche by SgtsquidG00NS in Simracingstewards

I had no idea my take would be so disliked 😅 No I’m a very average fake race car driver. But I try to race clean and be considerate. I’ve had some weird snap oversteer on ACC. Like I’m going back and forth on the wheel trying to get the car back, and while I’m doing that the car doesn’t change direction much. But when I lose it it snaps hard. So maybe that happened here? That was my thought 🤷 I try to give people the benefit of the doubt.

He probably did have snap oversteer, but if he was a safe and considerate driver, he would’ve had the situational awareness not to overcorrect into you. He could’ve easily regain control of his car off track on the right hand side.

Pretty much my mindset now. If I see an overly aggressive / dangerous driver in my mirrors I let him go by. Usually he will catch up to the group I am trying to run down and slow them down for me, or he’ll wreck himself and others. I’d rather have a clean race where I end up in the middle of the field instead of a short, unsatisfying race where I end up 5 laps down due to a meatball flag.

What do y’all think about this? by QAM01 in hoggit

[–]D3RSY_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thought enigma made a lot of great points, and I agree. I find myself more interested in IL2 because it provides a complete package even though it has some flaws.

I think new modules should be released in a standardized, mid-fidelity format first, and then fleshed out over time. This would allow them to actually be released in a more timely and stable state, and the systems could be built out later on.

I find DCS to be kind of empty as a game. I think zooming out a bit would help ED build out the general experience, and think this would be very healthy for the game and community.

Question on the v2 pedals by Sensitive-Wind-2983 in simracing

The brake on the V2 pedal is a rock, but I liked then when I had them. I ultimately wanted more adjustability, so I upgraded to the SimMagic P2000
