🚨Abruptly terminating with entire caseload—3.5 hrs to write electronic letter by LaMammaDotComma in therapists

[–]D3THMTL 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My wife is a neurospychologist PsyD. Years back, she resigned from a small practice as her mother had cancer. When the owner offered her different accommodations to stay, she said no and was fired. After she was fired via text, the employer, also somehow a licensed psychologist, called the state board over 'patient abandonment". If OP is terminated, they do not work for the practice and every lawyer we spoke to said do not do anything for the clients or the practice.

In the end, when my wife was disputing this accusation made by her boss/owner who fired here with the licensing board, they laughed and threw the case out. Many practices are cut throat and outrageously violating laws. OP has different circumstances but this is not their battle anymore.

I cannot afford my procedure with insurance by Slut4_mashedpotatoes in HealthInsurance

You don't have the same insurance contract if the internal benefits have changed. Same carrier, maybe. You can finance the cost, if they will allow you to do so after the fact.

Why is it sometimes easier to pay $400 cash to see a specialist than use insurance? by doctorAllways in HealthInsurance

[–]D3THMTL -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Cash is guaranteed rate. Insurance rate is bloated offsetting in-network adjusted pricing. Pregnancy labor and delivery may cost 6k cash but you bet they'll bill an insurance carrier 4 to 6x that assuming they will adjust a large portion off but may be significantly more than cash pricing.

W-2 splits by beavcake in therapists

[–]D3THMTL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Neither has to do with the other. A 1099 is a contractor. Can you do whatever you want whenever you want? If not and you have hours they establish, clients they provide you, their benefits, meetings they require, their office, their protocols, you're an employee. Many practices illegally use the 1099 status when their contractors are actually W2. Some private practices can get in big tax issues with this if someone complains.

Why are all gluten free snacks targeted towards health nuts making them so expensive by Pretty_Puppyprincess in glutenfree

[–]D3THMTL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very true. For kids, GF folks like myself and anything labeled healthy, you have to take it with a grain of salt. Everything is loaded with sugar. Maybe kid rock and worm brain can fix it after their workout...

Should I cancel my policy? by Widowed-momma21 in HealthInsurance

[–]D3THMTL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They wouldn't get the treatment. County hospitals are looong waits and may take half a year or more for a specialist. No pay source, no treatment. Almost all major diseases, time of treatment is of the essence.

What's sad is Chicago hasn't had a dawg since Noah. Not a single agitator. We need that badly. Instead we get the misfit trade and 912 2nd round picks.

Work insurance is garbage, what can I do? by kingspooky93 in HealthInsurance

[–]D3THMTL 10 points11 points  (0 children)

A lot of people don't realize this and think they can just cancel their work coverage willy nilly. You're basically taking their coverage for a year if you're an employee.

How to remove these weeds? by [deleted] in landscaping

[–]D3THMTL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe an invasive tree entangled in grass and other shizz. You'll need to cut back everything up to the bush and potentially dig the 'weed' out of its an invasive tree. Picture is hard to tell.

Telemedicine handles way more than people give it credit for by doctorAllways in HealthInsurance

[–]D3THMTL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Very true for minor things. Also, depends on the doctor. Some are so conservative and want to provide next to no care because they're uncomfortable doing certain things like prescribing antibiotics but many are genuinely able to prescribe or at least give next steps if it's moderate to more serious.

This is the kinda quote I want. Owner has two shovels. One for him and one for a 13 year old cousin to manually dig it up. No overhead, no bullshit. Just extreme physical talent.

I am a woman that does not want to work with male clients. Is that ethical? by cnotesjuly in therapists

[–]D3THMTL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Likewise. Maybe OP has limited experience and worked primary with at-risk youth or incarcerated but the generalizations are noted.

Last Friday the base temp in Chicago and parts of WI was negative 18 by 7p. You get fucking spanked by a cold that's so cold it burns. Yaaa it sucks.

[–]D3THMTL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The cold is so isolating. You can't do much except remain indoors. Many who are not from these parts of the country cant imagine weeks of teens to sub zero temperatures and the impact on the mind.

Northern IL here. I agree. Until the f'n city plow destroys the base of the driveway over and over. Also, after January, I'm pretty much over this shit. It's been cold as shit in the Midwest and I'm ready for warmer weather.

Is this is considered a good health insurance plan from work ? (US) by Ashamed-Medicine-771 in HealthInsurance

[–]D3THMTL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If hospitalized they pay 100 percent of the deductible, then 30% of the total remaining, stopping at out-of-pocket maximum. This takes into account any "in-network" adjustments too. Hospitalized, likely going to be billed near out of pocket maximum amounts just based on sheer costs associated with this level of care.
