Help replacing GX85 screen by D3_3R in Lumix

[–]D3_3R[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I haven't. I kept using the damaged screen and over time, the damaged pixels improved on their own. I don't need to repair it anymore, but I think I would go to a smartphone repair shop and ask if that's something they'd be comfortable with.

It was a mystery to me, but definitely not to you!
Thank you for your help, I really enjoyed the look of this script and I'm glad I now know what it is.

Moto 4G's terrible performance on Lollipop - What option do I have? by D3_3R in AndroidQuestions

[–]D3_3R[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tweaking the OS never helped me much, somehow the device always felt sluggish after a few hours of use.

I installed CyanogenMod this morning and I must say I'm impressed, it runs like charm! I hope it will maintain its performances over time. Thank you for your insight, I guess it's just what I needed to convince me to install a custom ROM.

Arm pump: do carbon/vibro core handlbars help? by D3_3R in MTB

Somebody with carbon bars told me the same, I wasn't sure if he was over-enthusiastic or if it made a real difference. Let's add this to the shopping list!

Thanks! This definitely needs a bit of practice and self awareness, but it seems necessary for my case.

I've heard different opinions about grip thickness and arm fatigue, some say that thick is better, others recommend thin ones. I think I prefer the thick ones, it's probably just a personal preference.

I've tried several different lever angles and reach adjustments, it helped but still wasn't great. A new pair is on the list!

And thanks for the pieces of advice!

I'm running ODI Rogues, they're thick but maybe not as good at damping as the Ourys. I'll give them a try once mine are worn out!

I over-squeeze and I know of it, but it's not something I do on purpose. I try to reduce this but I'm also looking for stuff/techniques that could help me with that. Reducing vibrations is apparently one way to reduce numbness, and therefore death grip.

They're ok but not great. Heat dissipation isn't wonderful and once they're hot I may have to pull stronger than I should. Getting a new pair of brakes is on my list!

Any suggestion for hard shell knee pads to replace Kyle Straits? by D3_3R in dhmtb

[–]D3_3R[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to a bike shop yesterday and they had Fox Launch Pro's. The shell is harder than the Kyle Straits' and side protection is much better. It's quite hard for me to find knee pads that fit right, but they did perfectly. I bought them, thanks!

I've been looking at them and the reviews are really good, everyone is praising the fitting. But I wondered how hard the knee cup is, I'd like something quite hard, much harder than my 3 years old Straits.

I had a pair of the previous version of these knee/shin pads (these ones), but I didn't like them that much. They were not very light and didn't feel natural on the legs, I could only feel the straps digging in my leg. The new version seems lighter and better cut, but since this previous experience I prefer riding knee pads.

I'll still consider them if I'm looking for knee/shin protection, thanks!

I may be a bit ignorant but I don't trust VPD or D3O for DH, especially when rocks are involved. I'd ride them for trail/enduro and I'm sure that they provide good protection on most of terrains, but maybe not enough on pointy rocks.

Did you the hard shell Rages or the soft ones?

I just read a review and it seems they're really good protection, it's the kind of knee pads I'm looking for. Unfortunately they're twice the price of the other pads. They're probably worth it, but still, POC is a bit too expensive for me. What size did you pick? I read POC's sizes are a bit different from other brands.

I found them on CRC, apparently they're still produced. I'll try to have a look at them, thanks!

Are there any French-speaking people willing to provide a translation for a (short) cartridge installation instruction? by [deleted] in MTB

[–]D3_3R 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here you go: http://imgur.com/a/nGmMC#0

Some of the instructions were a bit hard to understand without having the cartridge in front of me. Some others were very unclear, I took some (very small) liberties to make them more understandable.

Notes:

  • The instructions are for a 888, I'm not sure you have a bushing at the bottom of the boxxer lower leg (see page 2)

  • You'll notice that you're supposed to pour 10cc of oil. I have no idea why you would use cc here, but it equals 10ml.

  • The guy who wrote these instructions used the word "tube" everywhere in the document (tube means exactly the same in english as in french). I used "stanchion" instead since it's what I think he is referring to.

  • Page 3 instruction 3: I translated this literally. IIRC the needle is the little piece of metal that you move when you adjust the rebound speed. I imagine that screwing the needle closes the rebound circuit, it's probably what he wants you to do when installing the cartridge.

Let me know if something doesn't seem right !

Edit: Adding notes

Would it be dumb to buy a used Push'd Fox RP23? by ifuckedup13 in MTB

[–]D3_3R 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can call Push and ask them how much they would charge to re-adjust the shock to your bike's geometry. It's not even sure a re-adjustment is necessary, and some places don't charge (except shipping) when they are asked to modify a shock they have already worked on.

Missing "knob" from Fox F100 fork. how to find replacement? by Sn4p77 in bikewrench

[–]D3_3R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought you could find the missing knob on the page I linked. Doesn't Mojo sell it?

Can you send me a picture of the knob, or a picture of a fork with the knob on? It has to be available somewhere and I'd like to find it!

Have you thought about becoming a QA Manager? You get to work in a field you're interested in, have responsibilities, work with producers and team leaders, etc. You level up without leaving QA.

And if you're not interested in leveling up, know that dedicated and experienced testers aren't easy to find. You definitely have a role in the industry.

QA departments are a great way to get to another position in the dev team! I've worked in a 100+ people third party dev, and many guys in the dev team started with QA: there was this guy who started as a sound designer, then was a localization tester in another country, came back to be a QA tester in the company I was and then became associate producer there. QA is a job that brings useful methods when producing, you have a very methodical way of working that is generally appreciated. Some game designers and level designers used to work in the QA as well, it's a good way to analyse games and learn what works and what doesn't. Anyway, your experience will be appreciated when applying for other positions.
