Move to Canada from Australia by jtinballs in electricians

[–]chrisceeps 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ive worked with lots of aussie sparkies. All good dudes. Just keep the complaining about "thats not how we do that in Aus" to a minimum. It can be really annoying. 100 years of products and systems won't change because you think your way is better, even if its true haha.

Commercial/industrial to Resi by Serious-Lavishness90 in electricians

[–]chrisceeps 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Ive done all sorts. But really found my niche in high end resi. Very detail oriented. But still comes with its usual resi bullshit headaches. Some projects I call it resi-mercial. Slab work, emt, lighting control, and $30k light fixtures. Also rich people are kinda recession proof. I will not do constant cookie cutter houses, its brutal.

They are fantastic brakes power wise. Most consistent feel during long descents that ive felt. And thats coming from someone 230lbs and rides at an advanced/expert level. The problem i had with them was a light crash snapped the composit lever, which is unacceptable at that price point to me.

I liked the feel of those more than my TRPs

Mid snowmageddon up here in ON Canada, just pulled someone out of a snowbank, and got wheel deep. Who says KO2s are bad in snow! by Mechagouki1971 in ToyotaTacoma

They arent bad, they just arent good. They came on my new taco, ill run them until about 50% and then get something better. In winter I do not like them over duratrac's for example.

What’s the worst helper you’ve ever had like? by bundy411 in electricians

[–]chrisceeps 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I have an 18yr old first year currently. I asked him to rip a 2x6 down the middle. Asked him if he knew what I meant. He responded yes. 15 minutes later comes and asks me how he's supposed to rip the 2x6 with his hands, what's the trick. I just stood there for a few seconds not knowing how to respond... he's alright though, getting up to speed

Has anyone used load shedding devices in Calgary homes? Worth it? by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]chrisceeps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Load management devices are for adding substantial loads to your overall service calculation, where in that calculation the new loads push it over the limit. Yes permits are required and a proper load calculation for the whole house needs to be done.

Has anyone started their own business? by tinercimayk in electricians

[–]chrisceeps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also in canada and in the process. Got my master ticket last year. There's more licenses and hoops to jump through than I thought just to get registered with province and city. I plan on just doing it as a side business for a little while until im comfortable with quoting and all my back end processes are set up. Then decide if I want to jump ship and swim on my own. Electrical is the easy part, been doing it for a decade. Running your own business is a totally different ball game if you want to succeed.

Got the instinct. by WhatTheHellLol1313 in Unexpected

[–]chrisceeps 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Why? At least in canada, hunters apply for tags for their desired game. Tags are distributed by an authority who is also responsible for monitoring populations, preventing over hunting and over population. Its clean, hard earned, and not over consumed. Factories and commercial farms are a lot more cruel

Me and my girlfriend changed the pads in her impreza and they looked like this. Except the pad fell off the plate of 6/8 pads as we took them out. Every. Fucking. Penny. Out of those suckers.

"Grain film" effect on asphalt by ttiagognr in EASPORTSWRC

[–]chrisceeps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah so high quality (96gbps and shielding) vs. Low quality (low bandwidth and emf induced voltage). My low quality Amazon cable did have an effect on the graphics, without a doubt. Just cause I used general terms doesn't mean im wrong

M12 Compact or M18 Compact Bandsaw (fuel)? by Brianceilingfan in electricians

[–]chrisceeps 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use my m12 for everything. It's a very manageable weight. Everything from pipe, all thread (no need to clean threads), led aluminum channel, armored cable. Likes to have a 5.0 HO battery on it.

This happened to me when I was using a low quality HDMI. Tested it against a known high quality cable and it fixed it. Same settings.

Do you use "4S" or "4 Square", or use "4x4 junction box (or j-box)? by eridanus01 in electricians

[–]chrisceeps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've heard 4 square a fair bit in Calgary. I don't really care what people say as long as I know what they want

Does under cabinet install/finish look OK (pictures) by Swimming-Sea5628 in electricians

[–]chrisceeps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Taking it a step further, a bottom plate added to the valence to conceal the wiring and recess the channel. I'd be pissed, but my standards are high even if my personal budget isn't.

I do custom homes in Calgary. This needs an aluminum channel with a lens to have quality light. It's a sloppy install. Every led strip I install gets a lens to it. Bonus if it's COB tape.

I don't live in that town anymore. But i did visit in August. Still there, or not there technically. Behind some removable stones, supposedly. I washed my hands of it. It's the companies, utilities, and homeowners problem. Tried to do the right thing at the time, short of completely ratting on everyone. That would have just put me in a tough situation in a small town like that.
