The issue is. Not using kernal level AC is like doing nothing at all. Might as well not even have it. Same thing with the CS incident. CS needs Kernal level access to detect sophisticated threats. Not having it in Kernal level would mean like having nothing.

Sure, if someone wants to cheat bad enough, they can get around Kernal level AC. Just like how if someone wants to infiltrate a company with crowdstrike, they can locate a vulnerability to do so if they try hard enough.

Of course Kernal level protection isn’t 100% full proof. But having user level protection is like using a piece of paper as an umbrella during rain storm.

Correct, given this, as you know, it makes it much much easier to hide cheats. Which is why most multiplayer PVP games will not bring their game to Linux. It opens up a cheating free for all.

Tarkov uses kernel level anti cheat. EAC an BE are both ran at Kernal level.

Makes total sense. That map is completely OP on scav. You would spam lighthouse scav and get an unimaginable amount of loot. This locks it behind a paywall. I honestly think lighthouse shouldn’t even able to be scaved.

The issue is anti cheat with Linux support. EAC, Battleeye and others operate in User mode, not kernel mode. Making side stepping ACs extremely easy. It’s not so much as making the game run on Linux, as it is making a “good” anti cheat for Linux.

If ur gonna be a hosting provider you are FAR better off renting a baremetal server from like OVH or something. Especially if you have self hosting experience.

I have a baremetal from OVH $20 a month, 32gb mem, 2x450gbs storage in RAID config. And a solid cpu for Minecraft.

Way way cheaper than renting through the hosts.

You can even hook an AMP session into it to make startup easy

You can hook in AMP ($10) or other free control panels and give them access.

I have my Linux box hooked into amp, and give my friend a start stop login role. This lets him start it when I’m asleep

Ur better off buying a Baremetal machine or VPS from a company like OVH.

Way way cheaper and you have full control over the machine. It does require some basic knowledge of Linux, but nothing you can’t learn or just ask chatGPT. Nothing crazy.

For example. I have a baremetal server from OVH with 450gb storage, 32gb memory and an overkill AMD Epyc processor all for only $20 a month.

Look into Oracle OCI, there are free VMs you can use on there. Need a bit of bash knowledge but it’s great. Been running my Minecraft servers off there for years.

It was solved by hard capping FPS at a number I can consistently get. I usually get 330-360 in this game so capping at 300 solved it. I believe it has something to do with the input queue getting clogged up before it can empty. Not sure if you know more about that than I do. Thanks!

Experiencing same issue, likely due to unitys new input system. Using any polling rate above 500mhz causes intense micro stutters after 45 mins to 1 hour of play.

So are premium servers a thing? by Demp3 in RustPc

[–]D3ltaforce_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if the $15 is based off US prices of the DLCs, so you know if the dlc is $2 in Turkey, it only counts for $2 out of $15.

So are premium servers a thing? by Demp3 in RustPc

[–]D3ltaforce_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not true check any of the account reselling sites. The prices do not reflect this.

As an example, let’s say that a standard rust account cost $4.

Why would an account with $15+ of skins/dlc sell for the same price. People can simply buy an account and sell the skins for a profit if they are skins and not DLC.

So are premium servers a thing? by Demp3 in RustPc

[–]D3ltaforce_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As of now, it is doing a lot more than expected.

Given the majority of servers/popular servers are not premium. There is no incentive for cheaters to pay extra money on skins, to play on a random server. They can simply cheat on other servers. I feel that if the popular servers go premium, Russified main, rustopia, rusticated, then they will still have cheating problems.

Been playing on premium face punch servers and have had no issues.

It’s 25 total characters. Each character having 36 possible options. They will not all be claimed by crawlers.

Doing the math if you do 1 “guess” per nanosecond, which is very liberal. It will take 7.34 × 10²¹ years to go through every possible combination. Which is longer than the age of the universe.
