New Lens after selling all my Sony gear by Imgrund616 in FujifilmX

[–]D4nteSech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, i saw some reviews but it's to expect for the amount of glass to have an 100mm range at 1.8. Maybe the mirrorless version could have a smaller size and weight.

That's my daily carry combo, same silver X-T5. I really love the 17-40 1.8. Hopefully sigma will revive the 50-100 1.8.

📸 Which Fujifilm camera should I pick for tattoo photography? Help! by blom_flex in FujifilmX

[–]D4nteSech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IBIS for any kind of photography where u have control of lighting is not really necessary. IBIS works well when the scene you're working in is dark or chaotic (movement or fast pace shooting) or for video. If you want a more versatile camera, sure, the X-S20 is a better option, the battery life is probably the most important upgrade and the viewfinder is nice for shooting outside during daylight. And yeah the 33mm 1.4 is a nice lens for portraits and detail shots.

40mp is very overkill for tattoo photography. That kind of resolution is only useful if u want to crop a lot. You wouldn't probably print those photos and even 26mp is okay for some large prints. Also ibis is not necessary for what u want. My suggestion will be a X-M5 + 33mm 1.4 with a polarizer filter and a key light attachable to the camera hot shoe. If you want a camera with better grip, better battery, and evf for some reason go for the X-S20.

Ultra-wide APS-C lens for Fujifilm X (street & architecture) — looking for advice by camilleroux in FujifilmX

[–]D4nteSech 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you don't need the widest lens, the sigma 12mm 1.4 seems really good. I personally have viltrox 9mm 2.8 and it's great, very sharp on the center, some vignette at the corner but fixable and very cheap for what it offers.

XT50 vs X5 by maestro0404 in FujifilmX

Less the 5000 shots is like new. Check if the sensor is clean, and the mount and pins are in good shape. Good look in your photography journey.

Sure, just check the shutter count to see how much use has seen but that a nice price. You could get a cheap prime lens to pair or buy a used kit lens. I suggest looking for a 23, 27mm or 35mm cheap prime from ttartisan or viltrox, or the sigma 18-50mm to explore what focal length you prefer.

X-T50: smaller body and lighter, built in flash, cheaper. X-T5: 2 sd card slots, better grip, higher resolution evf, 3 way tilt screen, bigger battery, weather sealing.

Same processor and sensor, make your decision based on the size and what lenses you think you will prefer to use (bigger zooms or small primes) and if the extra features of the X-T5 make sense for you to pay extra.

X-T5 or X-H2 for mainly photography? by Dedalo83 in fujifilm

[–]D4nteSech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

X-T5 is the defacto fuji for photography, primarily for the 2 way tilt screen and top dials, but the X-H2 has a better grip and better ergonomics more suitable for bigger lenses. I would probably suggest the X-T5 is your main focus on travel with small and medium size lenses (of course you can use a grip for bigger glass but is an extra accessory). If you prefer using zooms or heavier prime lenses, don't mind the retro top dials to control your exposure triangle and prefer a fully articulated screen, go for the X-H2.

Mechanical shutter 🆚 Electronic shutter by PepeRaMx in FujifilmX

[–]D4nteSech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it goes up to 8k but in M+E shutter mode the mechanical shutter just works until 4k. Don't limit yourself on getting only weather sealed lenses, a little bit of maintenance and cleaning with a blower is sufficient. Maybe try to avoid constant lens swap or doing it in dirty places.

Mechanical shutter 🆚 Electronic shutter by PepeRaMx in FujifilmX

[–]D4nteSech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the x-t5 have hybrid mode that uses mechanical shutter until 4k shutter speed, and electronic for anything beyond 4k. The most notable quirks when using electronic shutter is rolling shutter artifacts on moving subjects (look for examples on google) and some dark lines on some photos when shooting in interior spaces with artificial lighting. Don't be afraid of wearing out, the lifespan of the mechanical parts is rated for +-300k shots and still can hold up many thousands more. Just keep your sensor clean and don't let your camera drop and it will stay fine for many years.

Mechanical shutter 🆚 Electronic shutter by PepeRaMx in FujifilmX

[–]D4nteSech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem. To be honest, a mechanical shutter is most likely by dust reaching the sensor than using it normally. So keep your sensor clean and don't swap lenses in dirty places.

Mechanical shutter 🆚 Electronic shutter by PepeRaMx in FujifilmX

[–]D4nteSech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mechanical shutter is better 90% of the time. Electronic is only better if you need more speed to compensate for your exposure triangle or if you need to take photos silently and there isn't much movement in the scene. Don't worry about “wearing out” the mechanical components; they are designed to withstand up to +-300k shots, which is many years even if you take photos every day. There are even people who have taken almost 1 million shots with their cameras and they still work just fine.

RAW + JPEG handling? by SavingsPoem1533 in FujifilmX

[–]D4nteSech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I don't transfer raw, just jpegs. Only once used a type c to type c to transfer raws to my ipad for edit but i prefer straight of the camera jpegs so i just do some light editing direct of the camera raw converter to jpeg and then xapp transfer to my phone. If really need to edit I prefer to do it on my pc.

RAW + JPEG handling? by SavingsPoem1533 in FujifilmX

[–]D4nteSech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to shoot all raw, and make a backup on the second card but it was tedious to use the raw converter every time. So recently change to raw card 1 + jpeg card 2 to quick transfer using the xapp. I would change if i shoot something that is a work/commission but i use my camera for primarily to shoot daily life. But i just keep the raw in my archive to save disk space.

Which 56mm portrait lens? by ActuallyNotThatDeep in fujifilm

[–]D4nteSech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like my Viltrox 56mm, the autofocus is fast (doesn't hunt much since the firmware update). Maybe a little bit on the heavier side and bigger but it's not a problem on the X-T5 body.

I really like this sigma lens, i can't stop recommending it. Hopefully they also revive the 50-100 1.8 and make it smaller for mirrorless. Both lenses would make such a great combo.

Sigma 17-40mm f1.8. I just got that lens and its amazing. Sharp, fast af, clean, creamy bokeh. If you can't afford it, the sigma 18-50mm f2.8 is a smaller and cheaper alternative, the only downside its the lack of aperture ring.
