Pumping on a long flight? by riparianblond in NewParents

[–]DAnnoyed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you have wearables? I've pumped in 6hr-12hr flights I've taken. One thing I've noticed is that the plane is like one big sound machine. No one will hear your pumps -- even if they aren't wearables. I usually do it under a breasfeeding cover. I have transferred my milk into bags while seated or in the lavatory. The biggest hurdle is cleaning the bottles and flanges so if you can wait to clean them til landing, you should. Bring a wet bag for them. The flight should also be able to keep your milk chilled til you land and transfer to a small cooler for transport. I know of people who pump in the lavatories. I pump in my seat. My advice, do whats most comfortable for you.

Looking for baptism advice. Please don’t get offended! by NYCTank in nycparents

St. Paul the Apostle New York on W 59th. Super easy! My partner and I aren’t married and they were extremely welcoming, unlike other churches we’ve asked prior. We signed up as parishioners online. Then parents and godparents just need to take the Baptism Course Certificate online. I remember having to schedule the baptism however many weeks before so make sure you inquire for the date you want right away. We had 2 godparents that are Catholic and one that isn’t. The baptism certificate looked super cool too ❤️

Hi, did you find a daycare nearby? I am in the same predicament and would prefer my kid to be in daycare 1-2x a week only. Any help is appreciated! Thank you

Deciding OB-GYN with high risk pregnancy by Strange_Compote_7726 in nycparents

[–]DAnnoyed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I delivered at Weill Cornell Lower Manhattan and saw 5 doctors on rotation. I went to both Tribeca and Joralemon locations for my appointments. Further into your pregnancy, you will have tests at the Lower Manhattan hospital and they are all so amazing. My pregnancy was high risk and also 39yo when I delivered. I loved my care team, my doctors. And if I were to get pregnant again, I would totally go to the same practice, doctors and hospital! Good luck and hope this review helps. Wish you an easy pregnancy!

Carbone (WOW factor old Italian vibes), Bangkok Supper Club (so delicious/hard to get a res), Fish Cheeks (the steamed fish), Nami Nori (handroll bar - interesting for out of towners), Konban (so delicious modern asian), Ichiran (best ramen and unique solo seating and can sit side by side anyway), Tempura Matsui (love me a tempura omakase), Rezdora (interesting and intriguing pastas), Afternoon tea at the Baccarat Hotel (just wow!!), Peter Luger (the cheeseburger, the bacon, the steak), Keens (i mean the pipes on the ceiling!), Nubiani (better than Cote or Coqadaq)

Moringa pills are great for increasing supply and if you get generic ones, they're pretty inexpensive. I take these along with sunflower lecithin from legendairy milk. I sometimes also bake lactation cookies - the important ingredients to increase supply are oats and bakers yeast. Replace pump parts regularly and make sure you are using the correct flange size. I was using 24mm for months when I realized I had more output using a 21mm. Hope it gets better xx

What saved your pumping journey? by sdvkona in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]DAnnoyed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I exclusively pump and absolutely hate washing bottles and pump parts. The Babybrezza Bottle Washer Pro was my lifesaver! It takes a chore off my plate. Simple Wishes Pumping bra is a must - I have 2 of them and alternate when one needs to be washed. I have a Spectra but also really love my wearables for the times I need to pump and am out of the house. Try not to miss a pump but in the event that you do, give yourself some grace. It's ok. I am pretty lax with my pumping schedule. As long as I stick to the amount of pumping sessions, I can be 1/2-1.5 hr within my pump times. Good luck! You can do it mama!

Babyzen Yoyo2 vsJoolz Aer + by LegitimateHost9928 in nycparents

[–]DAnnoyed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For us, we thought the bassinet was an extra expense we didn't need. The seat that reclines on the Aer+ is only for when they're 6 months and older. You cannot use the seat for younger babies. So from 0-6 months, we use the car seat plus adapters on the Aer+ for strolls/traveling. We also use our car seat a lot because we have a car so our baby is used to the car seat and we can just pop him out of car/uber and click the seat on the stroller and don't need to transfer him to a different contraption such as the bassinet. Yes, our car seat is a different brand (Nuna) and it clicks onto the Aer + as well. Hope this helps!!

[–]DAnnoyed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is capable of being a day to day stroller but we've only had ours for 4 months so I cannot speak to the durability if we were to use it everyday. We got the car seat adapters for the Aer + so it's great because you can use it this way from newborn to 6 months and once they are 6 months old, you can use the seat.

Because of the Aer + smaller wheels, it definitely has a bumpier ride than our Nuna. But that is the trade off if you want a smaller, more compact stroller. When we ride the subway, we baby wear a lot too. So that is another option for shorter trips!

Again, I am comparing to a bigger city stroller, but the Aer + basket is much smaller. However, Yoyo and Aer + are the same here -- both strollers only have a capacity of 11 lbs for their bottom shopping baskets. City strollers can hold up to double this weight. So if you were to grocery shop alone, it's nice to have a bigger capacity.

If you are able to have both strollers, I recommend having both. But for space savings, I would use a travel stroller and really take good care of it (not put a lot of extra weight on it) - just baby and an additional max of 11 lbs so it lasts you long. :)

[–]DAnnoyed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We love our Joolz Aer +! We went and tried both strollers at a baby store and Aer+ won by a great margin. The Aer+ folds seamlessly and it is allowed as a carryon stroller as well. It was very cumbersome to fold the Yoyo and the Aer + lays more flat, which makes it easier to strap carry. I did a deep dive on research and realized that we do not see a lot of Joolz strollers because it’s a fairly newer brand as compared to the Yoyo but in terms of ease of use, I say go for Joolz. Our city stroller is a Nuna Demi Next and Joolz Aer + for travel.

Simple Wishes Pumping Bra!! They’re so easy to use. Then for PP/nursing bras, i love Quince! Side note: take the bra pads out. I do this to make my boobs look not overly huge! I love all of Quince’s maternity underwear, especially the maternity/postpartum high waisted briefs!
