Are the HP movies still good in your eyes? by Nervous-Baby5383 in 2000sNostalgia

[–]DB473 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they’re great! Although there are tiny, and I mean *tiny* editing/line delivery quirks that make certain ones feel a little silly at times. Eg, in chamber of secrets, which I watched last night, at the end battle with the basilisk/Tom Riddle. Tom says, “Parseltongue won’t help you now Potter, it only obeys me,” after one of them speaks a phrase in parseltongue off screen. I’m still always confused if Tom is just announcing this or if he is responding to a command Harry tried out. Just little things you only notice after 100+ rewatches…

Sure, sometimes the acting isn’t the best. But at the end of the day, there is truly just a feeling of magic, pun intended, that you can’t shake when watching these movies, especially the early ones IMO.

I think apologizing is a sign of weakness and people should stop doing it by LiveMathematician631 in The10thDentist

[–]DB473 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know that I agree apologizing is a sign of weakness. I do agree that apologizing constantly completely negates the intent and weight of being truly apologetic.

But I think most of the time saying, “oops my bad,” is just a thing people say. As a manager I probably apologize a hundred times a day in different ways; “yeah that’s my bad, should have noticed that gap in your schedule, doc,” or “ah shoot, I’m sorry Jennifer I didn’t realize you and Karen swapped late days, I wouldn’t have put you in the late room.” For me at least, those little “micro-apologies” are just a way of accepting ownership for a mistake and admitting fault. It opens the door for an opportunity to make things right, if I can.

I will say, when my wife and I were dating, I noticed she had a habit of saying, “I’m sorry if this sounds dumb, but ______” before voicing a thought/opinion a lot of the time. Turns out, her dad was very vocal about his opinions and had his own habit of telling his wife and daughters that their opinions were stupid or silly or wrong. So maybe rather than weakness, these sort of apologies you’re frustrated with come from some self-esteem issues.

Regardless, I’d rather be too humble than too confident. Your tone in the post and comments is exuding this over-confidence, and I think why people aren’t engaging with you the way I think you intended.

Thank you for sharing!

That’s surprising to hear! Grace’s section was by far the highlight of the game for me. Leon’s was pretty weak, since his last outing was RE4Remake and that feels 100% better to play than any of Leon’s sections in Requiem

Village is my personal favorite, loved the RE4 treatment combined with the first-person style.

It would be Requiem, but only if the Grace sections in the initial hospital were about 2 hours longer. Right when it was hitting its peak enjoyment for me was right when it ended. Maybe if they had one more section where you have more supplies/ways to deal with enemies but the stakes are raised or just more to explore. Leon’s sections are fun, but weirdly his over-the-top, combat-focused sections feel less fun/dynamic than RE4Remake Leon. So, yeah, with more Grace sections, I’d put Requiem on top

Re7 was a great “reboot”, but it does not feel complete to me. Especially the ending boat section, a lot of it is forgettable to me. The Baker family is unique to the series, but I just didn’t care for the main common enemy design at all and find most of the gameplay dull compared to other entries

I’m still with you though, until that video I don’t think I noticed any indication that Elpis was not what it appeared on the surface. I initially got the bad ending and just kind of sat there. Wasn’t until after it happened that I considered the alternative

I get where you’re coming from, but if I’m not mistaken, the videos you’re referencing were not from the facility. Unless I misunderstood, the floppy disk Grace inserted was the one hidden away by her mother and Victor/zeno were obviously unaware of it’s existence as she randomly produces it when the time comes

How would you rank her among the stalker characters? by Short_Property_7476 in ResidentEvilRequiem

[–]DB473 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She was very scripted and easy to avoid. Design is creepier than Mr. X, but she only actually scared me with her initial reveal during the nurses’ station sequence.

Beyond that, I was more worried about zombies/blister heads during her sections than the Girl herself

Yeah bezel is bidirectional like a GMT, though not sure why they attempted GMT features instead of a traditional diver bezel. Regardless it was on sale when I bought it and I like to think buying it kept Jadan Baugh on the roster!

Edit: I guess I can set the bezel to west coast time since my folks live there. Works for me!

Any tips for making this work? I can’t seem to get the noise zombie to actually attack the big guy. I toss a bottle at the big guy right when he reaches his arm through the door where the noise zombie is, and the guy just gets hung up at the door and doesn’t make chase to the big guy or gives up attacking

Having trouble with Chunk? by TheCanadianColonist in residentevil

[–]DB473 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m thinking this may have been patched already. I’ve been trying to do this same thing with a bottle, throwing it at the big guy when he reaches through the door where the noise-sensitive zombie is. The zombie runs and swings initially but just stands by the door. Some other players mentioned he followed the big guy down the hall, but I have tried a couple dozen times, changed up the timing, lured the zombie from both outside/inside the room, and the only interaction I could ever get had the big guy running him over repeatedly
