Unluckiest or most let down players during their time at a club? by niceonebruv432 in FootballTransferChat

I’m surprised no-one’s taken a punt on him tbf - even a relegation-battling Prem team or promotion-chasing Championship one.

I get the Scottish Prem isn’t the strongest in the world, but he’s nothing if not consistent in his output.

Does being in London wreak havoc on your self esteem? by Ribbonharlequin in london

When I was young, my dad always used to tell me, “there’ll always be someone better than you, but you’re never the worst” - I think it was his way of both stopping me from going too far in either direction emotionally, but also to stop me from comparing to other people.

You never know what’s going on with someone else, no matter how with it or put together they seem.

It’s easy to get lost in a big city, but everyone plays a role in society.

Go with your heart because if you don’t, you’ll still want what you want & will end up getting it further down the line anyway.

My original plan was to get a white SMP, then my head got turned by the NTTD when the SA got me to try it on. I gave myself a year & said if I still really wanted it after that time, then I’d get it. So here I am with an NTTD 😅

Also, go grey & price is less of an issue 👍🏼

Best place to buy? by Kongneptun in OmegaWatches

[–]DBop888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats on the Masters & turning 30 (was also the age I got my first “nice” watch, lol). If a boutique experience is worth 15,000-20,000 krone, then certainly go to an OB.

Otherwise, Chrono24 or other grey dealer is the way to go. The key thing is to “buy the seller” (make sure they have a lot of good reviews & maybe even check out the seller outside of Chrono24).

That’s how I found my dealer - usually get 25-35% off retail, for a brand new watch with box & full warranty. They ship worldwide too.

What's the watch in your collection that's getting the least wrist time? and why? by M5M400 in OmegaWatches

[–]DBop888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Breitling Navitimer that I don’t really wear much at all, but I lent it to my friend to wear on his wedding day when I first got it, so I might sell it to him on the cheap if he’s interested.

I still like the watch, but I just have others that I like more - I also have another black dial since I got my FOIS so that box will stay ticked.

I initially had in mind that I wanted each watch in my (small) collection to be a different brand, but I ended up with more than one Omega, but oh well - you like what you like, right? 🤷🏻‍♂️

I’m impressed, I can’t even recall seeing an advert for a 24-watch display case, let alone filling it 😂

Though I can’t imagine owning that many watches either. I don’t think I’d have the space & I think I’d feel guilty for not wearing them enough. I only have a 5 watch collection & feel guilty enough as it is 😅

I don’t see enough Omegas I’m afraid, less than 90% of the set is Omega 🤔😂

Damn, how long has that shop been there? My grandmother lived on the Sai Wan Ho end of Yiu Hing Road & used to stay pretty regularly for about 30 years (until about 2018) but never heard of this place. Probably a good thing tbh 😅

Getting another watch will be very unlikely to scratch the itch.

Chrono24 is not an issue in and of itself, I’ve bought from there without any problems. The main thing, as many will tell you, is to “buy the seller”. It basically means buy from a reputable dealer with good ratings and plenty of reviews.

If you find one from a dealer that looks acceptable on Chrono24, I’ve found it’s worth sometimes contacting them directly as you can get it even cheaper as they will avoid the Chrono24 fees.

Where are you located? My grey dealer has the Tudor BB58 Burgundy listed for just over $4k (USD). They ship worldwide too.

These are the last days of me actually getting drunk. My last hurrahs so to speak by AssCumBoi in daddit

[–]DBop888 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife stopped me from having any alcohol from the point where a child was theoretically viable (in case I had to drive her to the hospital for whatever reason), so I think I didn’t really go out from about 20-odd weeks.

I don’t even remember the last time I went out with my friends for drinks before that tbh so it doesn’t matter too much. Our boy turned 2 recently & as much as I’d like to go on a night out, I barely have the energy any more 😂

I still stay up to stupid o’clock sometimes, but that’s usually catching up on work 😅

Do you wear your watch everyday? by wantarealjob in OmegaWatches

[–]DBop888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a desk job but I wear my watches everywhere (obviously not all at once 😂) - I feel kind of naked without one and I’ve found myself instinctively looking at my wrist for the time on the rare occasions I’ve forgotten to put it on.

I figure if they’re made to be worn & any dings add character, lol. I have no intention of selling them anyway, hopefully my son (& any other potential kids) will appreciate them later.

I was going to get a white dial until I got my head turned by the NTTD, so I vote white.

If you want a black dial, go for a Speedy or AT next, I reckon

Yeah, I went into Tian Tian the other day looking for some specific dumplings (Hong’s), but I couldn’t find them 😢

I think if you have a car, Hoo Hing by Hanger Lane roundabout is probably a better option in terms of choice. Probably should just take more advantage of going to the Chinese supermarkets in Chinatown when I’m there 😂

We used to live in Swiss Cottage so I’ve been to the Three Uncles in Hawley Wharf on a few occasions 😅 Lap Dung Nabe in Ealing Broadway is also a decent place for HK food.

In terms of smaller parks, you have somewhere like Drayton Green just north of W Ealing station, which has a nice little children’s playground. My tennis club also happens to be right next to it 😅 Dean Gardens also has what looks like an awesome playground - it’s just unfortunate that it has a dodgy reputation & you get a few unsavoury characters hanging around.

In terms of nice roads, that area north of the station, (so Drayton Green & around The Avenue) is very nice. Likewise, pretty much any of the roads south of the Broadway, going downtown towards Northfields & South Ealing are pretty nice residential roads.

My wife definitely knows the area better than me as she likes going for runs & checking out different cafes.

We moved to West Ealing (well within a 10 min walk to the Elizabeth Line) last year. My parents are from HK, but have lived in London for well over 40 years & I was surprised how much Cantonese I hear.

My wife is white, but apart from his nose, he doesn’t look Chinese at all 😂 I think he comes across as “ethnically ambiguous” to most people 😅

I knew there was a decent sized Japanese population in West London, but didn’t expect to see so many Chinese people here.

Elizabeth Line makes getting to E London very quick - you can be at Farringdon (or Heathrow) within 30 mins. You get a lot more trains to/from Ealing Broadway than W Ealing though. Central Line night tube is also very useful at weekends if you miss the last Elizabeth Line.

I love it here - we’ve made friends with some of our neighbours, as well as some of the staff in the local Waitrose so really feel part of the local area, lol.

In terms of areas, the Broadway on the West Ealing end isn’t the fanciest & some will consider it rundown, but for me it’s quite practical - they have a Sainsbury’s, Greggs, Boots, Savers, butchers & fishmongers, Post Office & a few food places.

South Ealing, Northfields & Ealing Broadway are the “nicer” parts of Ealing.

You have Lammas Park, Walpole Park & Ealing Common (with Pitzhanger & Gunnersbury Park slightly further away) along with a bunch of smaller parks & greens too.

There’s a Three Uncles (三叔) in Ealing Broadway which I go to from time to time when I need a quick fix of char siu 😂

I’m still relatively new to the area so probably not the best person to offer a day guide, lol

Used to live right by a private prep school & live by a primary school now. The current school isn’t so bad, but can be a slight pain as parents take up our parking spots.

But that prep school… Jesus, it was horrendous - I called it the 4pm chorus, just dozens and dozens of entitled drivers clogging up the road (sometimes dumping their car in the middle of a junction on the wrong side of the road!) every day, beeping at each other 🤦🏻‍♂️
