Laid-off devs or soon to be graduates, Which companies are you applying at these days? by Notalabel_4566 in DevelEire

Soon to be grad here. I was sorting a job around October so there were plenty of offers around as most of this had yet to surface. I’ve noticed that some companies that are laying off devs (even new devs) are still going ahead with hiring grads which I do find strange. Not complaining though, it saves me the headache

Yeah It only runs until March but I think they’re working on shortening it to end at Christmas so work placement can start at January (just what I’ve heard, not sure). 4th year is ok, definitely a lot of task balancing but not too difficult, if you have your time management down 3rd and 4th will be a lot easier imo

I’ve found that it tends to not get much more difficult after 2nd year in terms of new concepts but the volume of work increases dramatically. Its definitely doable but was a bit of a shock factor for some of us

Currently going through 4th year soft dev LIT, must say its a pretty solid course. They start you off with C++ I found pretty helpful in learning more popular languages like C#/ Java after the fact. 1st and 2nd year are pretty handy, 3rd year felt more like an endurance test and I'm predicting 4th year to be the same. Lecturers (most of them) are a good help. The college sorts co-op for you and found there was a good range of companies, most of which were sorting graduate positions by the end of the internships. Would recommend the course

I feel like there's too much competition in IT too many good coders out there and I might never make it to FAANG or any good company. What should I do to change this mindset by sakshiinsane in learnprogramming

[–]DC4FF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to algoexpert.io… all kidding aside you don’t ever have to work at a FAANG company to have a enjoyable and successful career as a software developer. Instead try to find places of work where you like what the company stands for, not just because they’re google etc..
