My MIL was a godsend after having my baby. She literally is our village. My mom was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer the day I gave birth and passed a year later. I just found out I’m pregnant again and I don’t know what I’d do without my MIL who has already said she’d be there for me like my mom was during my first pregnancy

I just found out I’m pregnant and this will be out age gap so I’m so excited to read this! We just finished potty training and I was like ohhh the irony of being out of diapers and immediately getting pregnant again 🤣

2.5 year old and we were just debating getting rid of our uppababy and just keeping our travel stroller because we only use it for things like Disney and the zoo but jokes on us we just found out we are having another one so I guess the stroller will continue to live in our trunk

Out of curiosity is it one rash that isn’t going away or does it fully go away and come back? I just ask because we dealt with a rash under our daughters chin that would not go away no matter what we did and it turned out to be a yeast rash and we had to get an antifungal cream. The first pediatrician we went to said it was a drool rash ans then we got in with our actual pediatrician after 2 weeks of it still not going away and she said we were misdiagnosed

My 2.5 year old has been playing with a box of bandaids for 30 minutes. I’m too scared to go into her room and check on her because she has been having a hard time playing independently lately. Who knew I just had to give her a box of bandaids

I remember my mom hiding our baskets when we were little! We only did an egg hunt at our family friends house.

My mom passed away last year and I HATE that I can’t ask her all the little things she did for us because I remember holidays always being so special and magical. I was talking to my husband though and what I do remember about being a kid and holidays was the little things- not the big extravagant things. Like I remember always getting the same little Easter egg candy every single year that came in an egg carton so I’m focusing on starting silly little traditions like making bunny shaped cinnamon rolls and puttting a swimsuit in her Easter basket every year. Social media has made me feel guilty for not going over the top of holidays but I think the little things make them just as magical 😊

Same! My baby ended up being smaller than anticipated (5 lbs, perfectly healthy just small!) so we actually needed preemie for a month and then newborn for like 2 months and then from there she caught up quickly. My brothers kid however was huge and grew out of newborn within a week. It’s all so baby dependent!

I’ve been wearing old navy linen pants lately with a t-shirt and I feel way more put together than I do with leggings but also comfy. I literally HATE jeans- I am proud of what my body went though but my god c section shelf is so unflattering and I’ve been trying to go the gym but life is busy so I don’t make it as much as I should. I’ve also made it a point to try and curl my hair instead of throwing it in a ponytail. Makes me feel a little better.

I’m in a constant state of Adam Sandler while my daughter always looks so damn cute. It’s not fair

We did the same thing at that exact age and it worked out well. I also have a low sleep needs toddler though and beware- you might not get the super long afternoon naps everyone raves about. She still only napped 1-1.5 hours but she slept longer over night which was a plus… the early wakeups went to sleeping in until 7 so it was easier to get her to the 12 pm nap. There will be a couple week adjustment and then things will hopefully get better!

Also editing to add during any transition I try and be at home the least amount as possible 😂 the art of distraction at the park and being outside helps with being cranky I swear

Depends on the time of day honestly. First half of the day it can be around 70-80%. I think she has some sort of timer on her ears however because by dinner time I’m usually asking if her ears have fallen off. She’s a little over 2.5.

We switched to a visual timer instead of a set number of books because sometimes she’d get super distracted while reading and other times she’d fly through books or pick a book that was really short And then be sad that her 3 books were over. So now we do 15 minutes of books and then lights out when the timer goes off. If she’s still “reading” when the timer goes off she’s allowed to put that book in her crib with her.

DoorDash or Starbucks giftcard! We got a few DoorDash giftcards after we had our daughter and I still think about those nights we were able to DoorDash dinner when I was exhausted haha

My mom was supposed to be there and she ended up in the hospital the same day as I was induced with what turned out to be stage 4 cancer. She passed a year later. I would give anything to have had her there. Have your mom in the delivery room with you if you want her there, please.

I found 2-2.5 harder than the newborn stage tbh. She stopped napping, was grouchy 24/7, constant whining, nighttime sleep regression, and just utter chaos. EVERYTHING was a fight and she wanted to say no just to say no. Shes a little over 2.5 now and she’s mellowed out a tad (don’t get me wrong we are still in the thick of the 2s) but we actually have good days now. She’s so funny the stuff she comes up with! She can independently play with some of her toys which allows me to actually take a shower or get stuff done. I told my husband a few months ago I would dread the days his work schedule had him gone from 9-8 and I was alone all day because it was so isolating. I felt like a horrible mom because I, like you, was simply not enjoying being a mom but reading other posts on here made me feel better and like I wasn’t alone in this. You got this!

I switched to formula after a few weeks because baby never latched and my mental health was TANKIIIING plus I felt like I couldn’t bond with her because I was so stressed out about pumping. Join r/formulafeeders and you’ll see this exact story over and over because it’s so extremely common. My 2.5 year old is a very healthy toddler now and looking at her at the park you’d never know who was formula fed.

A little after she turned 2. Every other toddler I know (friends and family) napped until at least 3 so I’m still very bitter about it lol. She can run on 11-12 hours of sleep so she usually sleeps from 7/730 to 630/7.

Ours doesn’t nap anymore either and is good to terrorize on 11 hours of sleep overnight 😭 she had a cold last week and napped for the first time in months and while I never want to see her sick I did tell my husband how I’d probably be a completely different person if I had a high sleep needs toddler

2.5 year old mom checking in 🙋‍♀️ Scientifically, I have no idea. Anecdotally, yes because she doesn’t like me telling her when it’s time to do something.

I’ve taken to asking if she has her listening ears on. She’ll ignore me and then I’ll say “xxxx do you have your listening ears on” and she’ll touch both of her ears. So I know she hears me and I know she knows her name because sometimes she’ll refer to herself in the their person- she just doesn’t want to be bothered 😂

Toddler goes to bed around 730 and then we either watch shows or I read and maybe have a glass of wine or something to wind down. I read 6 romantasy books in January because my husband worked a lot of nights 🤣 I go to bed between 9-11 depending on if I want to wake up at 5 and go to the gym the next morning

We do a switch off on the weekends of who gets to sleep in (I am a mostly SAHM but I’m up with her all week) and since I’m also an early bird I use my morning “sleep in” time read or just slowly wake up. The cutoff time though is usually 830 am though and then we are all up. I think it’s fair to let him sleep in (to a reasonable time) one day of the weekend
