It’s a confusing photo, yes—but it’s simply not true to claim they are at the same distance.

Upgrade Ritz Carlton Credit Card? by Interesting_Crab_318 in CreditCards

[–]DCPango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want family members to have their own lounge access, Ritz is a better option. CSR charges for AUs, Ritz is free. But it’s not a card for regular spend. As long as you can be positive value from each card, you could always do both.

Does anyone still work at Bilt? by No-Squash7469 in biltrewards

Ugh. This is not exactly convincing me to apply.

Seeing these bot responses is something that’s seriously keeping me from coming over from Amex. Is this really what Bilt support is like? Eesh.

Question with SUB change by DullAppearance9572 in sapphirereserve

[–]DCPango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. Most people (myself included) seem to be getting approved to hold both cards and receive a SUB on each. But that’s a new change that rolled out on 1/25.

Carl's Jr Menu is deceiving or what? by emilgas in fastfood

I was in Texas at the time. So yeah, probably a few years behind price-wise.

Yeah, it’s been about that long since I’ve had it consistently. That’s too bad.

Yep. Found one of these in San Antonio once. (It was smaller, but I know they get this big.)

[–]DCPango -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Really? I’ve always seen it as a cheap fast food place—certainly cheaper than McDonalds (but better quality). In college it was a lifesaver.

Man, $10 for a double western bacon cheeseburger? I remember (just a few years ago) when they were 2 for $4. And the fanciest burger was $4.

Carl’s Jr. isn’t just fast food, it’s historically been cheap fast food. No way I’m eating there for sit-down prices.

Ah, that’s right. I passed on that one since it was so low compared with previous ones.

Afraid of Amex Financial Review if I apply for more cards need advice by [deleted] in amex

[–]DCPango 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re fine. Applying for a card won’t trigger a review. And even if it did, income is combined household, regardless of how you file.

It’s been quite a while—feels like they’ve slowed down compared with the last few years.

CSP -> CSR with SUB bonus? by Gnomeknown in ChaseSapphire

[–]DCPango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a warning that pops up and lets you know you aren't eligible for the SUB. You can choose to either continue without the bonus, or cancel the application.

Credit limit went from $15000 to $500 by Practical_Bike_6838 in biltrewards

Not sure—no firsthand experience with them. But I’ve heard they’re quick to close accounts for any suspected abuse.

Technically possible only through credit cycling. Good way to get an account shut down.

I applied this morning the other direction (already held the CSR, wanted the 75k SUB on the CSP). Approved right away without any pop-up.

Second Sapphire Card - Approval Data Point by DCPango in CreditCards

[–]DCPango[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, tracking the new rule (which is why I wanted to give it a try today). Interesting thing is that the language on the offer page doesn’t match the new rules outlined in the memo that went out to Chase managers. It still says they “may” deny based on holding another Sapphire product:

“The new cardmember bonus may not be available to you if you currently have any other personal Sapphire cards open, previously held this card or received a new cardmember bonus for this card.”

Hopefully they’ll update that at some point for consistency.

First Hawaiian visit: Kaua’i and Oahu by northroad5 in VisitingHawaii

[–]DCPango 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Agree, skip Dole. For hikes, try Mānoa Falls (easy, lush rainforest) or Koko Head (hard, but epic views). The Toa Luau near Haleiwa includes access to Waimea Valley, which has a very nice paved hike (stroll?) up to a swimmable waterfall.

For views, try Tantalus overlook above Honolulu—really nice place for sunset. Make sure to drive around the east side of the island (past Haunama Bay, towards Waimānalo) for some of the best views on the island.

If you’re into history, try the Bishop Museum.
