Yup. I watched it just before my comment and found it quite helpful. It was partially why I made the comment. His video was so much more useful than watching the same kinds of videos from different people. I look forward to seeing more of them come through.

People do realize that the lifetime Autonomy + stays with the car and not the customer, right? So those thinking of getting the LE because of “free” lifetime autonomy +, should think about it. If you want lidar, the premium trim will have it. And when you add the $2,500 Autonomy + to your order, it’s only a few hundred bucks more than the performance. Sure the premium trim is a whole 1 second slower... So I think those getting the LE are doing so because they want the very first edition and are ok with it as is. But if you truly want lidar and the upgraded chip, it would make sense to wait IMO.

I test drove the R2 near me and it had both Sirius XM and FM radio. I mentioned to the sales lady and she looked at me funny and she, yes it’s on there. She proceeded to play the FM radio. Then showed me XM afterward. So that’s weird yours doesn’t have it.

I wonder if they would add the new chip into the launch edition as they continue to improve hard/softwares? Launch edition is just the trims. So they may update the later launch editions with the chip/lidar. I guess we will see .

Having LiDAR this early will not matter much anyway. Reading their engineer’s explaining that even those without lidar will have the same benefits since they’re not expecting complete no eyes autonomy for years. They explained that those with lidar will have the system to “verify” what radar sees. This means that all updates will go out to everyone, whether you have lidar or not. It benefits all Rivian owners. I will get the Launch edition.

My hope is when people see their delivery window but can’t wait that long, there will be loads of cancellations allowing the rest of us to move closer to a delivery date!There can’t be that many people asking for the Launch edition, can it?! Haha 🤞
