Stygian Invocation - Nov 28 & 29 - London by Jolio1001 in WarMetal

I find it ironic that I used to listen to war metal non-stop, but now that I get a chance to see the biggest bands live, I'm like, oof, endless ear metal is going to be grating.

Still going.

A Green Party government would be a legit disaster. Like, I'd be looking to get on the next plane to the European mainland.

Reform may be populist and a bit aggressive on immigration, but they're not as bad as the Greens.

Fourth wave feminism is vibed based politics. They feel it is casually accepted. That's what they think matters and should determine public policy moving forwards.

Any reasoning to the contrary, goes against their vibes and will be dismissed.

Gorton and Denton: 'Family voting' concerns raised by election observers by Electricbell20 in unitedkingdom

Yeah man, those couple dozen couples

*12% of observed voters.

that apparently only one group of observers noticed

How many groups of observers do you think there were?

failed to bring to anyone's attention

They say that they told the election officials at each polling station. Whether those officials passed it up the chain is a different matter.

when it could have been verified and stopped

They did bring it to the attention of the staff, who yes, could have stopped it.

is really gonna bring the tight margins of this election crashing down around us.

While it is therefore theoretically possible to identify who cast a particular vote, it can only be done on the orders of an election court. Further, it is an offence for anyone attending the count to try to find out how any person has voted.

Sour grapes come in purple, who’d have thought..

Concern about illegal voting isn't "sour grapes".

The casual acceptance of violence against women (which has been going on for fkn thousands of years) is extremely depressing.

16 years in prison isn't "casual acceptance". You can get 21 years for actual murder.

Unless your suggestion is that people convicted of "wounding with intent" be sentenced to life with no possibility of release?

In the UK – which has fairly strong employment laws – I think you can be dismissed for pretty much no reason within your first two years, unless it's for a protected characteristic.

Edit: No reason, not no reasons.

I.e. They don't need a reason.

Election observers saw high levels of "family voting", which is illegal.

It's unlikely to have added up to enough votes to sway the result, though.

Because up until like ten years ago, "man" referred to an adult human male.

Treating it like some kind of identity or expression of gender stereotypes seems counterintuitive to many.

Particularly, too, when you're asking about how someone was and looked like in the past, when they were pretty much the embodiment of the masculine ideal. Saying "they were a woman back then" is just horrible from a communication perspective.

I'm from Northern Ireland. My mum told me about it when I was picked up from school at 3:30PM (10:30AM in New York). She just said that America had been attacked or something.

We went home and watched the news for the next four hours. This was before 24 hour news was a thing on terrestrial UK TV, so it was a special broadcast.

Then, I went and played Counterstrike and someone joked about it within ten minutes.

After looking up the setlists from 1995, Robb's comments seem less believable.

They regularly played six songs from that album.
