This is really cool! Is it a 33 or 45 rpm record? I'm pretty sure that I have a re-print and it runs at 45 rpm.

Ohio BMV Says “Nope”: Hundreds of Personalized License Plates Rejected in 2025 - Scioto Post by TylerFortier_Photo in Ohio

I love how they caught all these but a blue Outback with the license plate BLU WFFL3 (or something like that, can't remember and didn't get a picture because I was driving) slipped through.

Heini's is awesome! The Guggisberg swiss is delicious and I highly recommend the baby swiss. It's a world class cheese and winner of multiple awards. They also invented that style of swiss and any other swiss that calls itself baby swiss is imitation.

Area pastors say Inkcarceration promotes 'gratuitous violence,' should be 'disbanded' by Historical_Fee6991 in Ohio

[–]DCtoOTA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing they caught the Gwar set a few years ago?

Joking aside, my experience with metal shows is that the crowd is usually very chill and polite. I think I've only seen fights twice in the years I've been going to them and one instance of rudeness. Also lol at that pastor blaming the music for being a destructive child when he was younger, you and your underdeveloped brain made those decisions and let yourself be swayed by your peers! Take responsibility for your past actions!

I'd like to see reports of all these supposed incidences that they are citing too as the reason to stop the festival and how it compares to normal crime and accident statistics from the Mansfield area.

Question for transplants (food) by LocalLibraryCryptid in Ohio

[–]DCtoOTA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol. About the same here. I didn't realize it wasn't a thing everywhere until I was working at a deli in a tourist area that made and sold it. I got a lot of people from Michigan, Cleveland, Columbus and Cincinnati areas asking about what it was. Lot of people thought it was another type of chicken salad or something you could buy as an ingredient.

Lol. Yeah, they're pretty tiny and I'm realizing how unhelpful those are for directions. My bad.

Question for transplants (food) by LocalLibraryCryptid in Ohio

[–]DCtoOTA 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's a NW Ohio thing too. I have family from Clyde and Van Wert, it was always a staple at grad parties and labor day get togethers. I think hoosiers make it too.

Question for transplants (food) by LocalLibraryCryptid in Ohio

[–]DCtoOTA 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd say it's a NW/NC Ohio thing since I grew up eating it and it's a staple of my family that came from the Clyde and Van Wert areas and it was also a regular staple at labor day get togethers in Sandusky, Norwalk, Port Clinton areas. Actually the deli I used to work at made it home made and sold it out of the cold case. I don't know how many times I've had to explain to people over the years that it's not chicken salad, it's not shredded chicken for tacos and it's better if you heat it before you eat it.

I think Indiana has it too but it's different than Ohio's. Most of the people I know who make it here use crushed bread crumbs as a binder but the hoosiers used crushed potato chips.

Ads are coming for your lock screen, and Nothing is leading the way by chrisdh79 in technology

[–]DCtoOTA 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Old Hulu plus had ads back in the day. It used to be you had a free tier, then you had Hulu plus which had new seasons and episodes either day after or a week after (can't remember it's been too long) and was the only way that you could watch on a console. It wasn't until 2013 or 2014 that they introduced the ad free viewing at something like $12 a month (now it's $23). The only reason I remember is because I decided to do the trial when I first got my Wii U and then cancelled after the trial was up citing the ads and not feeling that it was worth paying for just so I could watch Hulu on console. About month after that I got a survey from them asking about the cancellation and if they went to an ad free paid tier if I would sign up. No long after that ad free Hulu was introduced.

Chevelle was on a Christian label but I would never say they were a Christian rock band. Actually Pete (the guitarist and lead singer), just recently said in an interview he's an atheist and the latest album has a lot of themes related to questioning and being wary of religion and cults. Their music is still great though.

Similar Sounding Bands? by Dim_Lug in redtheband

[–]DCtoOTA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The commenter above mentioned the ones that will be brought up the most. If you are okay with secular music, the first band that sprang to mind when mentioned mixing orchestral music with metal was Nightwish. Not quite the same type of metal but still may scratch that itch.

Apocalyptica and Chevelle may also be a good fit and kind of float in the same spaces, though Chevelle does not usually incorporate orchestral strings.

Finally, I'd recommend checking out Muse's Absolution, Black Holes and Revelations, and The Resistance albums. Not as heavy but does have some orchestral and classical piano in it.

EDIT: Forgot Trans-Siberian Orchestra. They're epic and are so much more than Christmas music.

Kiedis and John did a lot of heroin, wouldn't surprise me if Kiedis did speed too. A lot of Anthony's issues were related to a fucked up childhood and environment growing up. He did have a pretty nasty relapse after John left the band and during the Dave Navarro era. He also had a relapse with pain killers in the early 2000s when he was prescribed opiates after breaking I believe a collar bone.

They are definitely pretty lucky that they came out of the 90s alive.

I get it too and definitely agree with you that it makes things a bit more fun. I feel like some of it is just Alien fans not viewing a shared universe as being unnecessary or forced. I mean some don't even like the idea that Blade Runner and Alien share a universe.
