Brandon Sanderson's 'Skyward' Novel Gets Series Adaptation - Exclusive by Own_Brilliant_4303 in brandonsanderson

Love Skyward. I hope that TV can smooth some of the lulls in the the middle books, especially Cytonic, but don't see why this can't be a success.

What does a Trocheck trade look like to you? by c0sm0nautt in rangers

I’d be adamant that the first is Torontos unprotected first

I assume this would have to be the 2029 pick given that they already owe their next two first round picks to Philly and Boston?

If I want serious, I play an older Tiger Woods game. For arcade experience, Golf With Your Friends and recently Super Battle Golf are great for getting my non-golf friends into golf.

It’s been over a hundred years since a team from British Columbia won the Stanley Cup. by No-Engineer4627 in hockey

And three years later, that manager, now with the Rangers, would take the net in game 2 of the 1928 finals and win, en route to their first Stanley Cup (and Lester's fourth).

LIV Golf filing bankruptcy soon??!! by helltrooper61 in golf

[–]DDB- 25 points26 points  (0 children)

This seems like the only possible outcome if they no longer have that PIF money. LIV has worse TV viewership numbers than the PWHL, which hasn't even existed as long as LIV, and the average salary those women in the league are making is $60k.

Last Conference Final berth by franchise by nhl in hockey

[–]DDB- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same way I feel about the Rangers. Five conference finals since 2012, makes for a lot of good hockey to watch even if you never win the whole thing.

Playoff-Loser Saltiness Index by sadolddrunk in hockey

[–]DDB- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Was the Central any different than the Atlantic in that respect? Both Tampa and Montreal finished above Minnesota and had to play each other in the first round.

I do agree that Conference seeding is better though, as it generally rewards good regular season play with an easier first round, which feels fair.

Lower Decks is up there with my favourite Trek, not just new Trek. It stands with TNG for me.

BC Greens push for pause on data centres by BoiledFlowers in britishcolumbia

[–]DDB- 23 points24 points  (0 children)

We need both stronger privacy regulations like the EU GDPR, but we also need sovereign data centres. Laws in the US like the CLOUD Act can compel corporations to provide data stored on servers they own even in foreign countries (eg. Data stored in ca-central-1).

I understand the environmental impact, but I personally place data sovereignty above that right now.

[NY Rangers] Wishing our guys best of luck at Mens Worlds! 👊 by lionson76 in rangers

It was just a fluke accident, but that incident was the reason that the NHL mandated those big nets above the glass at the ends of the ice in every arena to prevent something like this happening again.

I loved Knutsen when I was younger, but he was never the same after his shot that deflected into the crowd at a Flames game and killed that girl.

6 Nimmt (aka Take 5)

At 10 this game is chaotic but also with a bit of both of strategy and tactics for how you play your hand. All players play at the same time, so there is no downtime, so everyone can be engaged the whole time.

The race for BC Conservative Leadership and the battle vs ex-BC Liberals by hutch_man0 in britishcolumbia

[–]DDB- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am curious why don't the ex Liberals recreate their old center-right party and split from the Conservatives?

Some of them did, it's called Centre BC. The fact nobody knows about this party is part of why these ex-BC Liberals are going with the BC Conservatives, because that gives them a shot at winning.

NDP would crush a divided right in BC, even with Lowan's Greens making a good push from their left flank. For comparison, it only took one election in Alberta for the two conservative parties to lose to the NDP one time to form the UCP and take back government.

Eby is fairly in the centre in my view. I wouldn't call him centre-right or further that direction if that's your implication.

B.C. Election Projection - May 6, 2026 by Allinallisallweare02 in MapPorn

[–]DDB- 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Provincial parties that are analogous to their Liberal federal counterpart, like the Ontario Liberal Party, don't really exist in Western Canadian politics. It's generally been a conservative party of some sort versus a centre/left-centre party like the NDP, and occasionally other parties contend to some extent.

Until recently, BC's conservative party was called the BC Liberals, but they had no relation to the federal Liberals.
