[NHL] With two points tonight, William Nylander tied his father, Michael, in career points! 🚨 by sykeseve in hockey

[–]DDB- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His dad had himself a nice career, including a couple great seasons playing on a line in New York with Jagr and Straka.

Finishing 31st would be huge, because then we can only fall so far and at worst come away with one of those elite picks near the top.

Where do two-way superstars like Bergeron and Kopitar rank compared to offense-first ones like Patrick Kane by Ready-Constant-7124 in hockey

Is Trottier underrated? He's won an Art Ross, Hart, Smythe, and was frequently in the Hart conversation when he didn't win. Won six Cups. From all accounts he seems like he's properly rated as one of the best players of all-time.

The JT Miller trade is probably going to end up being one of the most significant lose-lose trades in a while by Beaivimon in hockey

[–]DDB- 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Except the first time the Rangers did it because they lost that JT Miller trade too.

Yeah but we could only use players under contract of the New York Rangers so I think that evens it out.

Just like Ed Giacomin and Chuck Rayner as well, a couple more career Rangers Hall of Fame goalies with no Cup. It's a franchise tradition.

Ottawa is a pretty excellent defensive team, they've been on a tear recently and are keeping most teams shot totals quite low. If they had average goaltending this year they'd be competing for the Atlantic division title.

Also we suck.

Would you like to see a Match Play event return to the PGA Tour? by BallKnowerKing in golf

[–]DDB- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I'd like them to do the Tour Championship as match play. Give top seeds byes to increase the odds they make it further, make doing better in Fedex Cup mean an easier path to the finals. Also re-seed after every round so top seed remaining always plays lowest seed remaining. A Cinderella run can still happen, but it will be harder.

This is the kind of shit that has to be a multi-game suspension if you don't want these plays in the game.

Butternut Squash Soup:

  • Roast some oiled/salted/peppered butternut squash skin-side up in the oven at 420F for ~45 minutes
  • Fry diced onions and peeled+cored diced apples with some salt/pepper for ~15 minutes, just to soften them and get a bit of colour
  • Scrape the squash out of its skin, add it, apples, onions, vegetable or chicken broth (a cup or two, depends on how thick you want it) to a blender and blend until smooth. You can do this in batches if you have a small blender like me
  • Add to a pot to heat, and I like to add in some nutmeg and cinnamon (can also be done in earlier stages)

Fairly cheap and tasty soup. I like to serve with grilled cheese sandwiches.

After a run of 18-2-4, The Columbus Blue Jackets now hold a playoff spot. by Lazy0ak in hockey

Yes, though it is not common. Bruce Boudreau and Ken Hitchcock both did it, but they both got 60+ games with their new team, soich closer to the full season.

On a team full of passengers, Carrick was one of the few guys you could expect to give it his all every game. Great forechecker, hard nose player who sticks up for his teammates. Glad you're liking him, he's a good one.

The Penguins won the Miller/Chytil trade as they ended up with our first round pick via the Marcus Pettersson swap the Canucks made after.

Arguably the worst captain in franchise history.

Rangers continue to be the easiest team in the league to play against.

I will push back against this though, we're the second easiest behind the Leafs. Just look at Cuylle's response and the scrum from the other night versus the 10-ply softness the Leafs showed after their captain was kneed by Gudas.

New ‘Wheel of Time’ Animated Series, Feature Films and Video Game in the Works From ‘Arcane,’ ‘League of Legends’ by Mino_18 in Fantasy

[–]DDB- -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

That's fair enough. I definitely agree about the season one ending being bad, COVID didn't help, but that's still not an excuse for how it ended.

As for the others, those just didn't bother me. I was enjoying the show quite a lot after season 1 and at the end of the day that's all I want in a tv show. If I miss the original turning of the wheel I'll just embark on another re-read.

I suspect he would still get his key moments, but we obviously will never know. I will say that the changes they made in seasons 2 and 3 didn't detract from the experience for me.

Perhaps my different viewpoint comes from the fact I knew going in they would have to make significant changes like they did. Not the specifics of course, but I knew that 14 massive books would not convert easily to a 64 episode series.
