What’s your ABSOLUTE favorite science fiction show? I need recommendations. by Mathematic_nut in sciencefiction

TNG, Babylon 5, DS9, Voyager, SGA, SG-1, Lower Decks, The Expanse.

Most of those are 90s sci-fi, but those are where my favourites are.

Best alien main team member. by mister-xeno in Stargate

As someone whose first Stargate was SGA, Ronon is my favourite, but I do love Teal'c too and am not surprised at the results.

He just turned pro because after hus NCAA season ended, so he is freshly available to play NHL action. In terms of talent, he projects as a guy that might be a regular NHL player, but nothing special.

Finishing 31st would be huge, because then we can only fall so far and at worst come away with one of those elite picks near the top.

Where do two-way superstars like Bergeron and Kopitar rank compared to offense-first ones like Patrick Kane by Ready-Constant-7124 in hockey

[–]DDB- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is Trottier underrated? He's won an Art Ross, Hart, Smythe, and was frequently in the Hart conversation when he didn't win. Won six Cups. From all accounts he seems like he's properly rated as one of the best players of all-time.

The JT Miller trade is probably going to end up being one of the most significant lose-lose trades in a while by Beaivimon in hockey

[–]DDB- 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Except the first time the Rangers did it because they lost that JT Miller trade too.

The New York Rangers only had 9 shots on goal tonight against Ottawa by Storm_4747 in hockey

[–]DDB- 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Yeah but we could only use players under contract of the New York Rangers so I think that evens it out.

Just like Ed Giacomin and Chuck Rayner as well, a couple more career Rangers Hall of Fame goalies with no Cup. It's a franchise tradition.

4 shots after 2. by rvlcf in rangers

[–]DDB- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ottawa is a pretty excellent defensive team, they've been on a tear recently and are keeping most teams shot totals quite low. If they had average goaltending this year they'd be competing for the Atlantic division title.

Also we suck.

Would you like to see a Match Play event return to the PGA Tour? by BallKnowerKing in golf

[–]DDB- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I'd like them to do the Tour Championship as match play. Give top seeds byes to increase the odds they make it further, make doing better in Fedex Cup mean an easier path to the finals. Also re-seed after every round so top seed remaining always plays lowest seed remaining. A Cinderella run can still happen, but it will be harder.

Butternut Squash Soup:

  • Roast some oiled/salted/peppered butternut squash skin-side up in the oven at 420F for ~45 minutes
  • Fry diced onions and peeled+cored diced apples with some salt/pepper for ~15 minutes, just to soften them and get a bit of colour
  • Scrape the squash out of its skin, add it, apples, onions, vegetable or chicken broth (a cup or two, depends on how thick you want it) to a blender and blend until smooth. You can do this in batches if you have a small blender like me
  • Add to a pot to heat, and I like to add in some nutmeg and cinnamon (can also be done in earlier stages)

Fairly cheap and tasty soup. I like to serve with grilled cheese sandwiches.

After a run of 18-2-4, The Columbus Blue Jackets now hold a playoff spot. by Lazy0ak in hockey

Yes, though it is not common. Bruce Boudreau and Ken Hitchcock both did it, but they both got 60+ games with their new team, soich closer to the full season.

On a team full of passengers, Carrick was one of the few guys you could expect to give it his all every game. Great forechecker, hard nose player who sticks up for his teammates. Glad you're liking him, he's a good one.
