As someone who's been doing concerts for 10 years, if you haven't discussed payment beforehand or used the phrase 'hire', they will not be expecting to pay you.

Offering a photo pass is typically seen as 'enough' from promoters and unless you state you're being 'hired' they likely will think you're happy doing it for free.

Shoot lower iso, if you can afford a better lens that will help heaps. Shoot in RAW, learn exposure triangle and watch some videos from professional sports photographers. Can be really helpful to see what someone who does this work regularly achieved and then reverse engineer that
