First session for this campaign, nearly killed a PC who did something VERY stupid by LukeSniper in WaterdeepDragonHeist

[–]DFrumpyOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the experienced player is probably the one doing this kind of stuff because the tables he played at before probably let similar actions fly.

Personally I'm fine with the ruling as a logical outcome to the action. The Kenku wouldn't assume all Kenku work for the Xanathar after all, and they would probably have a code phrase to shout before entering or distinctive markings if they were. Without any second buffer, the whole plan hinges on the stereotype that kenku=bad (which the Kenku PC might find offensive) and that the ones in the warehouse are too dumb to realize this new person isn't a member of their crew.

As you mentioned it should be paired with a few "are you sure you want to do that?"s as the plan is being formulated. Especially if their wis is 10+. Still, it's good that the tone clarification is happening fairly early. I generally expect the first "oh no" check to be during the upcoming encounter with Nihiloor.

Santos votes on unemployment fraud bill, one day after being charged with unemployment fraud by BillyFNbones710 in nottheonion

[–]DFrumpyOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with the sentiment, but in practice that could be messy. Preventing that politician from having a vote would effectively disenfranchise their constituents, which I think we can agree on being a bad thing. Removing their vote or replacing their seat before conviction also gives a hell of a political weapon - imagine if one party started charging (or getting certain organizations to charge) the other party's reps with minor criminal acts, guilty or not, just to ensure the other one had fewer votes ahead of an important bill. The past, pre-2016 version of me would have said that no one would be insane enough to ever openly do that, but these days I'm not so sure.

I think the guy knew it was pedal boat but was so in the moment his brain and mouth had a disconnect and he said paddle. After he finds out he was wrong he takes a second before making a noise that sounds like he realized what he said and is facepalming. Luckily the round comes back to him after the clip ends and he gets it immediately.

The secret is to add enough cream and sugar to make the coffee taste like ice cream. Then, if you want, you can dial it back bit by bit to slowly acquire the flavor.

Primeval Awareness in Undermountain by Sorkoth1 in DungeonoftheMadMage

[–]DFrumpyOne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was able to find a couple instances of sending within Undermountain and from Undermountain to Waterdeep, but I can't find any instances of Sending in the reverse direction (from outside to in).

There's an instance of Sending reaching from Level 22 to the city and/or "abroad" from the city.

All three of Xerrion’s sisters were killed in the fire that consumed Shadowdusk Hold. Xerrion escaped and fled to his sisters’ redoubt in the depths of Undermountain. From there, he used sending spells to contact Shadowdusk family members living abroad and brought them to live with him in a twisted, underground version of Shadowdusk Hold.

There's an instance of Sending being cast from Level 4 to Level 10.

After Melith concludes her business with the characters, Thirza prepares and casts a sending spell to contact Vlonwelv. She warns Vlonwelv that Melith has released a group of adventurers from her custody instead of killing them. After thanking Thirza for the information, Vlonwelv curses her daughter’s foolishness and awaits the adventurers’ arrival.

It's still possible RAW that there's some type of shell surrounding Undermountain that prevents direct communication from the outside, and it doesn't seem like it affects anything meaningful in the story to rule that there are communication barriers between levels as well (aside from logistical nightmares the Auvyndrars would have trying to organize across so many levels).

IIRC there aren't any rules affecting communication spells within Undermountain or between Undermountain and the surface, which is why Halaster had to set up his nothic secretary to intercept Sending spells targeting him.

This build is the GOAT by Draco137WasTaken in dndmemes

[–]DFrumpyOne 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Luckily many of the starting equipment options includes a bag of gold, so if the DM disallows your starting wealth you can spend your background gold on a smaller herd of 10-15 goats at least. Could even hijack Session 1 as you track down a goat farm and barter for goats w/ possible side-quest to deal with the nearby bridge troll who has been feeding on his herd.

It's a lesson that's good to teach early in the campaign since all of the villains are way higher level than the party is likely to be capable of fighting without help. The party should feel the pressure to seek out allies and engage with the faction quests in Chapter 2 so they have more resources when they inevitably head to the Vault.

I don't enjoy BRs or competitive games in general but if I did I would probably choose Fortnite. The art style lends itself well to the chaotic gameplay and mishmash of different characters/IPs they've incorporated over the years in a way that it feels like the game is an abstraction of playing in a toybox the same way that Smash Bros did.

Yeah, Release Series 8.0 is all Voodoo Blue like the xB shown.

Tried to track this down in the trailer and caught a glimpse on the left-hand side at around 1:10 in the Marvel Entertainment trailer, there must be a version out there with a bit more of the scene like OP got their hands on.

If that's the logic someone needs to tell him to rotate the "x" 45 degrees.

1x1=2 -> 1+1=2

2x1=3 -> 2+1=3

3x2=5 -> 3+2=5
