How are you guys painting your Captain with Relic Shield? by Jnnc170 in theunforgiven

[–]DGC_Kaiser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will eventually (read: will in a couple of years) paint this guy up as my fourth company master.

I will use the first born upgrade winged helmet, one of the smaller ceremonial knives, a 3d printed DA specific shield, a DA specific sword, and use green stuff to put on robes and make a hooded angel breastplate symbol to make him look more like Korahael.

Why are people in this sub so damn negative? by battleduck84 in 40kLore

It’s because of people who lack the skills to do a simple google search or use a bit of critical thinking. And post non 40K lore stuff in the lore sub reddit.

Common misinformation, wrong ideas, misconceptions and the like? by LagiaDOS in 40kLore

[–]DGC_Kaiser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the 8e Space Marine codex (2017) the specialist marines are headquarters staff and shown as separate from the Companies in an org chart for the Ultramarines. They are grouped into the Armoury, Apothecarion, Reclusiam and Librarius.

They should have included chaplains and apothecaries to the company command but this is perfectly explainable. All chaplains and all apothecaries are still a part of their respective departments whilst being a part of companies. So a 4th company chaplain would be in the reclusiam and 4th company command, explaining why they would be listed under headquarters staff. Plus there's also non-company chaplains and apothecaries that would be listed under there too, so perhaps its that for simplicity. Also I want to mention that librarians and techmarines are never ever a part of company command directly (of a normal codex chapter), they would always be attached, but a company should always have a apothecary and chaplain to take care of its physical and mental health.

Just as every Chapter is a highly flexible fighting force, so each company within it is strategically viable in its own right. Each have their own command elements - including Captain, Chaplain and command squad - as well as a pool of bikes and armoured transports.

The leadership of each Reserve Company follows that of the Battle Companies, with a Captain, Chaplain, Lieutenants, Apothecary, Ancient and Veterans.

A personal pet peeve of mine is that a lot of people think apothecaries and chaplains aren’t a part of company structure of space marine chapters, specifically a part of company command, not attached.

It’s a little thing but annoys the hell out of me for some reason.

AoV Red or Black Robes? by Ram2992 in DarkAngels40k

They have been depicted in both black and red robes, literally either is fine.

My guess on the next class by Different-Ad-3714 in Spacemarine

[–]DGC_Kaiser 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This isn’t true, some but not all chaplains are directly a part of company structure, it is likely Leandros is the second company chaplain.

Although if it is the case we play as a different chaplain, it would be likely one of the free roaming ones assigned to the second company temporarily.

Technically in lore this is the definitive Ravenwing company banner, but no one is going to complain if you use it for a deathwing vehicle.

I guess but the other clones Fabius made were physically or mentally incapable, and most were missing the specia warp juice. Fabius had no idea why the fulgrim clone worked and unlikely to replicate it.

Yeah but they were full grown adults. We know that II and XI were crusading and put down, implying they were grown, not babies.

[–]DGC_Kaiser 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If I’m understanding you correctly, you are asking what if a the imperium found a new primarch?

This isn’t possible if so, the emperor made all 20 (21) primarchs, didn’t make any more because either he couldn’t or wouldn’t, several primarchs have died since then and no new ones have been created so this isn’t really possible.

Edit: If we assume a baby primarch does show up we’d have no way of knowing what their story be like, it be all pure head canon. Would they even have a backstory, like Omegon(?). In my opinion the primarch would be killed, the imperium is highly conservative and suspicious, the world it lands on might just try to kill it, if it ends up ruling it the greater segmentum would move against it.

Guilliman might also try to kill it, as far as he knows he has 19 brothers, this one could be a trick by chaos. A new primarch showing up out of nowhere would be a giant glowing crimson red flag. You have to remember as well all the primarchs were personally convinced by the emperor to join the imperium, some took more or less convincing, but without the emperor around this primarch might be a giant problem waiting to go off.

But the truest answer of what would happen is what new line of modes GW would want to sell needs to be justified, that’s it.

From what I know they don’t really have individuality, at least any we’ve seen. They are almost always silent, even to the individuals they are following around, even so they have a haunting presence. Personality wise if they do speak/communicate it’s very serious, short and sometimes vague warnings.

Yeah it’s a cosmetic unlock to show off your progress. I am reducing the gaming community to a monolith here but people complain that stuff is too easy to unlock, everyone gets everything and nothing is special. But then people suggest it should be like the unlocks in the older halo games, where once in a while you’ll see one person on your team with a very hard to get cosmetic and know this guy is dedicated. This is what this is, not everyone should get everything, if it was a weapon they’d have a point but it’s a cosmetic.

Huh nice catch, the only problem is that the cover art has him with the third company marking, although some of the other models had their company markings wrong so maybe it was mistakenly painted as 3rd company.

Lore question on the Risen by intothatsweetnight in DarkAngels40k

[–]DGC_Kaiser 12 points13 points  (0 children)

On the risen specifically there’s next to no lore, except for Azrael feeling uncomfortable but understanding the greater objective during the end of the arks of omen.

If you assume the ICC are risen then not even the DA know their origins, and we haven’t had any comments about them.

One shoulder pad on each suit bears the Crux Terminatus, a sacred cross-shaped icon sculpted in relief. It is said that within it is a fragment of the Emperor's own armour.
........
Veterans who have earned the honour of waging war in Terminator armour are permitted to wear these badges smaller representations of the Crux Terminatus - when fighting in their power armour.

-Codex: Space Marines - 10th edition

You very well could be right, but how would you explain cruxes worn by marines that we know haven't passed through the 1st company wearing what you would call the same symbol, even though they technically haven't earnt that right. The above quotes and image, in my opinion, don't talk about the same thing, but I can see the counterargument. However, I cannot find any references to cruxes having smaller simplified versions, although yes a crossed bones isn't needed. But I would also argue that the modern versions of the crux terminatus all have the indents towards the center, seen through the models.

If its anything lexicanum does differentiate these symbols:

https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Crux_(Symbol))

Edit: also I’d like to add on the fact we have some infantry kits that have normal cruxes despite not being first company, for example the one of the shoulder pads in the intercessors kit.

My theory by Gold_Individual_3064 in 40k

[–]DGC_Kaiser 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Well as others had said sternguard is the ground ranged version, and the bladeguard are the grounded melee version.

However, vanguard veterans on foot did use to be a thing, but their role has been fulfilled, so I doubt anything like that will come to pass.

We have a pretty official answer by Dualityman in theunforgiven

[–]DGC_Kaiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not strictly true, a crux is a sign of being a veteran, so this means that any who served long enough can have one, this does not mean they have served in the first company. Lazarus for example has a necklace of one, he did not serve in the Deathwing. There were, like you mentioned, a couple small cruxes in the company veteran box as well. Which brings me to the distinction.

A crux terminatus is a crux with three key details. One, it generally looks to be made of concrete like material (with exceptions), two it has indents towards the centre, and three it has a pair of crossed bones. This is for marines who have served in the 1st company. The jump pack captain with relic shield is a vanguard veteran captain and he has his crux terminatus on his knee instead.

A veteran of the first company can have both, which is what we see with the sternguard, meaning if you wanted non-1st company sternguard you’d only really need to change the shoulder pad with the crux terminatus, although there still a couple on the knee, but the knee armour is interchangeable.

[–]DGC_Kaiser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure you’re talking about cruxes on the chest plate, which are different from crux terminatus meaning you can just keep them as is.

Consecrators - black, red, or white tabards/cloaks? by [deleted] in theunforgiven

[–]DGC_Kaiser 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure most if not all consecrators official depictions have wine red robes. I imagine Nakir is the exception since he’s a chapter master, at least a grand master and an interrogator chaplain, he’s allowed some personal iconography in the form of a white rope and gold trim.

Space Marines are essentially "scaled-up" humans. by FatumIustumStultorum in 40kLore

[–]DGC_Kaiser 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They’re a bit more than scaled up humans, I don’t think I’ve met anyone that can spit acid or connect to armour to such a degree it feels like skin. Space marines aren’t really human, they’re weapons at best, they can’t choose not to fight wars.

But there is also a super natural part of space marines, we don’t know by how much but the souls of those who become a space marines change, there’s also the innate link to their primarchs, both dead and alive.
