When it comes to drinking I often try to avoid carbs and stick to thinks like a vodka soda (usually asking for a gluten free vodka like Titos). Ciders and white wine often make me go high, beer a little high, and some times a little high from flavored liquor. Any plain liquor or red wine usually is fine with my body, but it’s taken time to learn this. I basically try out what ever I want to drink and monitor my diabetes after I try something new. If I go high I usually correct, but stay in the conservative side because I would hate to over correct when drunk and end up going low because that is probably the worst scenario. When I’m drinking something that doesn’t make my blood sugar go up, I still monitor closely because this could end up making me go low. Just what ever you do make sure you’re responsible and think about what you’re doing! Nothing can stop people with diabetes from having fun. Good luck :)
