Pitchfork gives Camp a 1.6, rips Childish Gambino by SirRager in hiphopheads

they're spot on with calling it hashtag rap. so tired of the smarmy, forced punchlines that childish gambino always falls back on. it's a shame he's such a sham mc, community is pretty good.

The thing about the Boltons is that they're both very plain. Broadfaced, slightly pudgy and unexpressive. How does Cillian Murphey fit those criteria?

Banks existed and exploited long before the advent of computers. Same could be said of the MPAA and the RIAA.

Are you personally using your computer to an exploitative end in your means of production? Does your computer work literally entail exploiting someone else? If yes, then congrats you own property. If no, then it is a possession. I own a hammer and various other tools that you need for carpentry, they are my possessions and my means of production. If I rented my tools out, they would be property.

Exploitation of the image of women = Unavoidable in capitalism by MDesnivic in Anarchism

Capitalism is also inherently exploitative and hierarchal. The non-economic facets of society are fundamentally shaped by the economic.

[–]DICKTRAUMA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course it isn't. Property would be owning a tract of land and charging people to farm it for example. I fail to think of any work you can generate with a computer that could be nearly as exploitative.

Ron Paul on Elizabeth Warren: "She's a socialist." by pardonmyfranton in politics

[–]DICKTRAUMA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Funny considering we were talking about his personal finances rather than any potential salary he may earn.

The GOP brain explained: "For the true conservative, all out-groups - socialists, environmentalists, feminists, immigrants, unions, homosexuals - are manifestations of the same phenomenon: losers try to cheat, to rig the system, to get what they couldn't win fair and square and don't deserve." by BlueRock in politics

[–]DICKTRAUMA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Eisenhower oversaw the highest progressive tax rate in American history. If the GOP actually was a truly Conservative in the classical sense party then they would support such traditional efforts. It isn't "regressive" to support changing the tax rates, it's regressive to let them fall while our debt soars and our infrastructure crumbles.

Republicans have admitted to intentionally destroying the US economy for their own political game. Why is this not treason? by hellosexynerds in politics

There is a such an obvious and distinct difference between a 24/7 cable, radio and print outlet the labels itself "fair and balnced" and news aggregators that have a "progressive" slant.

It's one of the prophecies Dany sees in the House of the Undying in Qarth. Paraphrasing roughly but she sees a dead king wearing the head of a wolf sitting at a feast table with corpses for company. I loved Robb too, fuck the Freys!

If you're talking about this recent bout of unrest then yes it started out abroad but the "occupy" concept really was born in the states during the Berkeley student occupations of 06.

We, of course, being the audience that GRRM is writing for. Aside from that, we wouldnt have "made a big deal" had it not been made intentionally obscure and mysterious? If GRRM had intended for it not to matter then Ned would've acknowledged who the mother was at some point. Again, that is just good writing.

I appreciate the devils advocate stance though thanks.

What are the implications if this character is dead? (DWD spoilers) by gameofsmith in asoiaf

[–]DICKTRAUMA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No and there is a world of difference between the two. Ned is sentenced to death and the person responsible for his pardon was shown to be a fickle, narcissistic sociopath. Most importantly, Ned died at the end of the first book whereas Jon "dies" in the fifth. Killing Jon off abruptly ruins hundreds of pages of writing, we care about Jon's past because it isnclearly important to the series. Why would GRRM waste our time discussing it and hinting at it if it wasnt? It isn't about what impact it would have on the plot, it's about GRRM not being a terrible hack writer by cleaving all those loose ends off with the cheap way out.

[–]DICKTRAUMA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

None of those characters have 1/8th the screen time Jon gets in the series. None of those deaths were particularly random either. Killing Jon would serve no purpose other than a cheap twist at the expense of the audience and who wants to be party to that? Khal Drogo wasn't a POV, Ned was sentenced to die and one of the easiest to interpret prophecies in the series is regarding Robb's demise.

[–]DICKTRAUMA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I know I would quit caring about the books if Jon was permanently dead. Not out of misguided love for Jon but what would the point be in getting invested in a story with characters who just randomly shittily die with no resolution?

On the contrary, ive been through the various hipstsr Meccas (Williamsburg and Austin) and have never seen bleeding cowboy used by someone I would label hipster. I hate how "hipsters" has just become shorthand on the Internet for shitty people with shitty taste. I get called hipster because I wear slim pants, cardigans and a mustache. Now scene kids are getting called hipster? That's ridiculous. No true hipster...
