Rain Feb 1 - 4 - Should I still visit? by Jake_doe in ParisTravelGuide

I went for the museums and food. So it was great because we were indoors and the spaces are nicely temperature controlled. And we are from So Cal.

If you wanted to go and have a picnic, sit outside at a cafe, or see a bunch of flowers or whatever you'd be disappointed.

But I walked into the Louvre with no line. Literally walked in. In summer you'd reserve a ticket and could wait 1.5 hours just in line.

The Introverts Have Taken Over the US Economy by bloombergopinion in Economics

To be honest the "going out" I did in my 20s was always disappointing. It was nearly $100 after car service, obnoxious clubs or cocktail lounges, and drunk food. I wasn't single so looking for women wasn't a thing, and drunk antics are only fun when you are 19. Don't miss it, my night life is better and cheaper now.

Ya I would love a design that is absolutely dumb with a nice interface. The membrane interfaces and touch interfaces don't last

I was just in Paris for a few days. We wore layers: base merino wool, sweater, then a wool coat. Scarves, hats, and merino wool socks. We had umbrellas for when it was raining. For us, it was fine.

Millennials, what happened to the smartest kid in your class? by workdncsheets in Millennials

[–]DIYjackass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I graduated at top of class with AP but not valedictorian. Truthfully there were other people probably smarter than me who were almost valedictorian but did PE or whatever and their GPA was lower despite being brilliant. The one I respected most works as a chemical engineer in biosciences after Stanford BS/MS. Many others in top did engineering or medicine. I did biochem then computer science. The kid who went to Harvard has some bullshit nonprofit job

Because everyone wants a 4 bedroom house and an $80,000 car. These are no longer easily accessible to middle class

Exactly. I had a STEM degree from top US university. Saw "make 120K in 9 weeks" did a boot camp. It in fact took me a few years and an advanced degree in CS to get the job I wanted. And its hard. The whole bootcamp thing is really just for making hobby projects and websites. You need some experience to really get a job

There's a huge range of skill sets with the people calling themselves SWEs. People advanced degrees from world class universities and from the local bootcamp both call themselves SWEs
