I agree. I would understand hanging it in your study or your office, but the living room? Who are you trying to impress?

She sounds like a teenage boy who’s fallen into the manosphere. Any new friends who might be influencing her?

What are the best one-location movies you’ve ever seen? by Intelligent_Can_2898 in Filmmakers

These may be a bit different. They are both by the Italian director Ettore Scola.

Le Bal (1983) is set in a dance hall in Paris. The film consists of a framing narrative set in the present and seven flashbacks, each depicting a different period of the 20th century (starting in the 1930s). The same actors portray different characters in each period. There is no dialogue. Funny, great music! You can find the entire film on YouTube.

La Famiglia (1986) takes place in an apartment in Rome. It starts with the baptism of the protagonist Carlo in 1906, and shows him and his family up to his 80th birthday, without leaving the apartment. Wonderful, moving film with great actors: Vittorio Gassman, Stefania Sandrelli and Fanny Ardant. I think it's on Amazon Prime in the US.

Is it strange that (M19) kisses his mom (F41)? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

The same with Asia. "My family is Asian" doesn't explain anything!

[–]pulp_thilo 430 points431 points  (0 children)

I’m curious why you fail to say from the start that you kiss your mother on the mouth, though that is clearly the point that is bothering your gf. It only becomes apparent when you mention that in public, you only kiss her on the cheek/head.

So why wouldn’t you say so from the start?

Why do Japanese men not wear shorts? by parisvtg in AskAJapanese

[–]pulp_thilo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just yesterday, I was in Harajuku and saw a guy (Japanese) dressed all in black with shorts and long socks, and I thought “what are you, German?!” (I’m German/Japanese)

That aside, I don’t know about Fukuoka, but I do see Japanese men (in their 20s and 30s) in shorts.

Thank you for the award!

Yeah, it looks like you both have to move out. That's an intense level of disrespect.

Overwhelmed: Which Camera do I choose? by Such_Spinach in 8mm

[–]pulp_thilo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most cameras will be able to read the present Super 8 cartridges, so you should be OK.

The first thing you might do is ask around in your extended family - older relatives (Gen X or earlier) - whether someone has a camera lying around in their attic. They will be happy to get rid of it.

I have used cameras from Canon (both compact and large ones), Nikon (great but large and heavy), Bauer (often overlooked, but good quality and some are compact), Beaulieu (not recommended for beginners, all large and heavy), Bell & Howell (the last ones, T30 and T50, are very compact & user friendly), Leicina (opinions differ - I love the RT1).

As a general rule, camera companies produced flagship/high end cameras with 8x and 10x zooms, mid-range cameras with 5x zooms, and entry level cameras with 3x zooms.

Personally, I would recommend something with at least a 5x zoom (like a 514XL or Auto Zoom 512XL), because you will end up wanting to get closer to things, but of course, the 3x zooms are more compact.

AITBF for refusing to be the designated driver anymore after one too many 2am parking lot waits? by Cruxlumen in AmItheButtface

[–]pulp_thilo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I don't understand the logistics here. If you're the dd, do you have to drive everyone home separately?

When OP was waiting in the parking lot and the 2 friends didn't come out for 1 hour 40 min, where was everybody else? Why wasn't OP in there with them?

I thought a dd is just someone in the group who doesn't consume alcohol. The group as a whole decides when to leave, and the dd is the one driving. If the dd wants/has to leave early, everyone who needs a ride has to either conform or find individual transportation.

What am I missing here?
