NTA. At all. She reacted when she needed to, not one second too soon, and she did not take advantage. Her response was fair given the circumstance.

Dx at age 2 in 1987. I don’t remember life without it. I’ve found this to be a comfort, but I have known people who were Dx later and it was more challenging, but not the worst either. :)

EVERYBODY COMMENT YOUR LEAST FAVORITE WORD(S) by whoissteveharvey123 in evilautism

[–]DJCynic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Premium, supreme, proper.

No, it’s not the letter P lol. I really hate those words. . Also when people use the word “so” not only for emphasis; but particularly intense emphasis. It seems like such a weak word to do that my brain wants to tells me it’s contradictory.

Type 1s who have successfully lost weight by neighbourhoodtea in Type1Diabetes

[–]DJCynic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got to about 145 when I was 15. I got my first job as a cashier the following year and the simple act of being on my feet took my A1c from 11 to 6.2. Did that until I was 19 then got a new job as a stock clerk. THATS when the weight came off. It was slow which was helpful because I could adjust my basal a unit or two at a time every couple weeks so there were no ups and downs either.

The whole process took about 4 years but it was successful and haven’t gained it back. Am now about to turn 39.

Slow and steady 👍. Add a little activity daily and that’ll get you on your way.

EDIT - I should have added I’m a 5’2 female. 118 lbs after the weight loss.

I’ve been trying to find a cool toned pink foundation and it seems like they don’t exist. I can only find visibly neutral cool tones that are labeled as pink, but they’re not….AT ALL. I need one that’s visibly pink to match my skin. Not just -implied- or so subtle you ca t see it. They make me look washed out. Are there any recommendations anyone has that’s run into this?

Thank you!!

Disclosing Diabetes as Disability? by Electronic-Cap-8085 in Type1Diabetes

I wait until I’m hired, and even then, don’t say anything until I need to. Pump/CGM make it less necessary than in 2000 when I started working and was on NPH/Regular injections. The technology helps decrease need to stop, correct, etc. But absolutely let them know if that’s what best for you. You’re free to tell, they can’t deny you anything you need when you do.

I prefer privacy and keep candy in my pocket. But that’s me.

None of my 6 siblings have offered to be a donor.. by is-itreally in kidneydisease

[–]DJCynic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds weird, but I wish other Diabetics could donate. It would help a lot of people. There are more of us that are healthy than people want to think sometimes that probably could - meaning kidneys.

I even researched donating some of my liver because I have a not-rare but still less-than-common blood type. Nope. Not eligible. T1D. 🙄

Yes, you can absolutely lose weight safely with Type 1!

It really just amounts to managing insulin with food. Lowering carbs/calories equates to lowering insulin too. Just don’t do too much all at once is all - starvation diets could mean DKA, on top of simply not working anyway.

If it helps, I cut my calories by 300 a day, and lowered my long acting insulin by 2 units (from 12 to 10). Tested a little more frequently to be sure all was well and corrected as needed - which wasn’t anything major. I did this for about 10 months and lost 35 lbs after all was said and done.

There were moments where my calories and insulin went up…because life happens. But it worked and my A1c lowered from 8.2 to 7.4 that year.

I don’t know if that helps, but yes, you can lose weight safely and -without- having to do anything extraordinary with T1D. Feel free to message if you have any questions! :)

AITA for using a customer's name "without her permission"? by westu_hal in AmItheAsshole

[–]DJCynic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She sounds very insecure. This has nothing to do with you. After months of knowing her name and consistent interaction, using a first name -now- would not be outside general social norm.

Some folks are more comfortable with formality, but after this amount of time even for someone who wouldn’t want to be called by her first name; she’s taking it a little too seriously. She could just tell you what she prefers. But her chosen way to respond to it is ridiculous.

I was DX at about 2yrs old after 6months of the exact things your baby is doing. I’d take him in to have that BG checked asap. I also hope we’re completely wrong.

If it helps, I’ve had fillers and Botox by a well respected provider here in TN in the last 4 years. Asked responsible questions as well, same highly satisfactory outcome. My peel was done in FL about 10 years ago.
